Rachael’s Bread is conveniently located at 14 Walkup Cutoff, Lake George, NY 12845, USA. For residents and frequent visitors, finding 14 Walkup Cutoff is straightforward, often recognized as a familiar landmark for daily commutes. Its proximity to Lake George ensures that whether you're heading to or from the lake, or just navigating the local area, a stop at Rachael's Bread can be easily incorporated into your plans. Being situated within Lake George itself means it's a convenient option for anyone vacationing in the area or living in nearby communities. The nature of a cottage business often means that the exact pick-up or purchasing method might vary, sometimes involving online orders or specific pick-up windows, adding to its bespoke appeal. This location allows Rachael's Bread to serve its immediate community directly, fostering a strong local connection and making it a genuine neighborhood favorite for those seeking high-quality, fresh-baked goods.
Rachael's Bread specializes in a range of freshly baked goods, with a particular emphasis on artisanal breads and delightful sweet treats, all made with a commitment to quality ingredients.
- Artisan Sourdough Breads: A core offering, Rachael's sourdough is a highlight, made with a long fermentation process and organic ingredients. This includes varieties like Plain Sourdough (which can be shaped as baguettes or soup bowls), Cheddar Sourdough (made with organic USA Milled Wheat and organic cheddar cheese), and Jewish Rye (featuring organic USA Milled Wheat, organic rye flour, and organic Vermont Whole Wheat Flour). The process involves cold proofing for 24-48 hours, which lowers the glycemic index and makes it more digestible.
- Yeasted Breads: Beyond sourdough, they offer other fresh, wholesome breads such as Challah (a dairy-free, egg bread made with organic eggs from their own homestead chickens, available plain, with chocolate chips, or as dinner rolls) and Country White (a naturally vegan option, very light and fluffy, also available as dinner rolls, Italian, Kaiser Rolls, and Sub Rolls).
- Sweet Baked Goods: Rachael's Bread is noted for its delectable sweet offerings, including:
- Blueberry Coffee Cake: Praised by customers as "quite literally one of the best desserts," this is a must-try.
- Cinnamon Rolls: A popular item, known for their comforting flavor and texture.
- Cookies: A variety of cookies are available, though selection may vary by day.
- Cinnamon Babka: A rich, sweet bread, a delightful treat.
- Biscotti: Perfect for dipping in coffee or tea.
- Cinnamon Buns: Another sweet, comforting option.
- Cinnamon Swirl & Cinnamon Raisin Breads: Classic comforting flavors, available in loaf form.
- Specialty and Seasonal Breads: Rachael's Bread also offers specialty breads that are not made daily, such as Bagel Bread (seasonal, boiled then baked, available with various toppings) and Maple Oat Bread (seasonal, made with local maple syrup and organic ingredients).
- Organic Ingredients: A significant highlight is their focus on using organic ingredients in their products, contributing to both taste and health benefits.
- Nut-Free Environment: A crucial service for many customers, Rachael's Bread operates in a 100% nut-free kitchen, making it a safe option for individuals with nut allergies. Most breads are also naturally dairy and egg-free.
Rachael’s Bread stands out in the Lake George area due to a combination of unique features and a strong commitment to quality and customer well-being.
- Organic Ingredient Focus: A major highlight is the bakery's dedication to using organic ingredients. This commitment to wholesome, natural components resonates deeply with health-conscious consumers and those seeking superior flavor profiles. For example, their sourdough is made with organic USA Milled Wheat, and their Challah uses organic eggs from their own homestead.
- 100% Nut-Free Kitchen: This is a critical and highly appreciated feature, making Rachael's Bread a safe and reliable option for individuals and families dealing with nut allergies. This level of care and consideration sets them apart.
- Artisanal & Small Batch Baking: Operating as a "cottage business," Rachael’s Bread focuses on small-batch production. This allows for meticulous attention to detail, traditional baking methods (like a 23-year-old sourdough starter and cold proofing), and a consistently high-quality product that feels genuinely homemade.
- Exceptional Flavor & Quality: Customer reviews rave about the "incredible" and "delicious" products, with specific mention of the blueberry coffee cake being "one of the best desserts ever." This speaks to the consistent excellence of their baked goods.
- Homemade & Homestead Connection: The fact that products like Challah are made with eggs from their "very own homestead right here in Lake George" adds an unparalleled level of freshness and a deep connection to local sourcing, enhancing the "farm-to-table" appeal.
- Variety of Offerings: Despite being a smaller operation, Rachael's Bread offers a surprising variety of items, from various sourdough types to yeasted breads, and a range of sweet treats, catering to diverse preferences.
- Customer-Centric Approach: The option for online orders and a focus on daily fresh offerings (as seen in the advice to check Facebook for updates) indicate a responsive approach to customer needs and availability, ensuring freshness.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stopped here to see what this little spot tucked back from the road was all about since we must pass this location three to five times a week late morning or early afternoons…. . I was hoping for something sweet along with some fresh eggs but my timing must have been off. Unfortunately, when I arrived the selections were not much in the way of cookies, pies, muffins. I will have to try & do an online order instead. I did not see any GF options either.
July 08 · Lisa BStopped here on the way to Vermont and so glad I did. The blueberry coffee cake was quite literally one of the best desserts I ever had. Cute little interior shop, too. I also love that all of the ingredients were organic. Will return here if I’m back in the area any time soon!
July 04 · Honest ReviewsWe stayed for a week in Lake George and ate Rachael's bread every day! We found it online and put in a preorder for pickup at Dan's Farm Shack which was fast and easy. Rachael is very responsive. At the end of our week here we went back by the farm shack to get more bread to take home - that's how good it is! We tried the sourdough, bagel bread, cookies, and wagon wheels, and all are delicious. Don't miss this local gem!

Her passion and vision for her business is evident. I would even say that you can taste it!
February 27 · Angela ByronRachael’s Bread is the best. I am a person who has never really eaten a lot of breads, but since my wife started getting breads and baked goods from Rachael, I love it now! And their prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend you check them out.
