★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Omg what a cute new bakery right by the hospital! I just happened to be walking to the post office and came across this adorable little shop. There were people outside having coffee so I felt compelled to stop in. Not much for seating inside. They had a variety of pastures to choose from and they all looked delicious!I saw a tray of almond croissants coming from the back so I opted for one of those since they were just freshly baked. The staff was friendly and he said they've been open for about 2 weeks. I had no idea!Well I took my croissant to-go and inhaled it as soon as I got home. The croissant itself was super flaky and moist. The almond paste was the perfect amount of sweet and they didn't skimp on it at all!I'll definitely be back to try their lunch sandwiches and more of their pastries!!
September 24 · Candie BrownI’m just a home baker but in my humble opinion these pastries are amazing. As a new small business the volume at which they’re able to produce high quality pastries is beyond impressive. As someone who works in the service industry it’s very frustrating to see so many negative comments about the availability of pasties near their closing hours. They open at 7am.It’s unrealistic to expect any business to have an infinite supply of high quality goods.People need to realize This is not McDonalds or Starbucks. All it took was a little patience and in 15 extra minutes their 10am batch came out and I had some of the best pastries I’ve ever had.Aside from pastries they have fantastic coffee that completely took me by surprise and had me coming back for that alone! (Tiramisu latte and strawberry matcha are just perfect)If you want a soggy flat Starbucks croissant be my guest. but if you want a quality, one of a kind pastry, made with care have a little patience. It was well worth the extra 15 minutes.
September 25 · Sarah Rose LopezOverall I feel like they still need a lot more time to get organized, it definitely felt like they weren’t ready to be as busy as they were. No pastry was amazing (our butter croissant was underbaked) and none of the lattes were mixed, all the syrup sat at the bottom of all the drinks. I won’t be coming back at least until they seem more settled, there are too many other great bakeries that are worth while.
September 11 · NailaStopped by The Salted Butter Company on California & Fair Oaks across from Huntington Hospital. Staff were friendly and smiley, and the space itself was clean, hence the 2 stars.Unfortunately, my experience fell short in several key areas:PastriesBy the time I arrived (before 12pm), all baked goods were already sold out. While it’s a great sign that demand is strong, as a first-time guest, not being able to try the items you’re known for makes me hesitant to return, especially if this happens often. I also noticed a few guests before me leaving disappointed when they learned there were no pastries left. That’s not just a loss in sales, but also a missed opportunity for word-of-mouth marketing and customer loyalty. If this is a recurring issue (as Yelp reviews suggest), it would be wise to raise par levels so guests throughout your full operating hours (until 2pm) can actually try what you specialize in.Drinks•Iced Cloud Matcha: Grainy texture, tasted mostly like milk. The foam was nice, but overall it didn’t do the matcha justice.•Salted Brown Butter Maple: I ordered it iced but received it hot. Even then, it wasn’t served hot, more like room temperature. The flavor leaned heavily toward plain milk and coffee, with very little maple or brown butter coming through. Don’t be afraid to turn up the flavor profile here.FoodThe cashier recommended a sandwich (I believe it was the Vodka Parm). I appreciate the upsell, but if you’re going to stand behind a product, it should represent the pride of the kitchen. Unfortunately, the sandwich was less than room temperature and soggy. Sitting in the dining room, I also noticed pre-assembled sandwiches left out, with flies landing on them. This not only affects food quality but also creates a negative perception for guests.Suggestion: Ditch the preassembled approach. A made-to-order sandwich with hot, crispy chicken, warm vodka sauce, and freshly toasted bread would have elevated the experience significantly.Overall:Friendly staff and a clean space are a good start, but execution on food and beverage quality needs attention. The pastry shortages, underwhelming drinks, and pre-made soggy sandwiches make it hard to justify a return visit, especially when Pasadena has so many strong options. Again, Good luck and congratulations, guys! I hope you guys take this in positive light. :)
August 29 · Erick GarciaI am an admitted croissant snob, and these are the best croissants I've found this side of Paris. Buttery, flakey and just the right amount of crunch. The fig pastry, chocolate croissant and ham and cheese croissant are also delish. I'm working my way through all their offerings. I split the Chicken Parm sandwich (on housemade focaccia) with my husband and we both loved it. I'm so happy to have an excellent bakery/cafe in the neighborhood. We will definitely be "regulars".
