This isn't just another coffee shop; it's a true Rhode Island institution, with a reputation built on a passion for artisan baking and a commitment to fostering a welcoming neighborhood environment. Since opening its first location in 2001, Seven Stars has become a hub for locals, a place where people gather to start their day, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a moment of peace with a good cup of coffee and a delicious pastry. The bakery's success lies in its dedication to "baking great stuff the old fashioned way," using high-quality ingredients and time-intensive methods to create a product that is consistently outstanding. This article will take a deep dive into what makes the Broadway location of Seven Stars Bakery so special, from its delectable baked goods and artisan breads to its convenient location and community-focused atmosphere.
Seven Stars Bakery has a well-deserved reputation for its breads, which have even earned national recognition from outlets like Food Network. They bake everything from scratch daily, using the age-old method of long fermentation. This process, combined with the use of freshly milled, organic grains sourced from the Northeast, gives their breads a deep flavor, superior texture, and a longer shelf life. The commitment to this traditional approach is evident in every loaf, whether it's their signature country bread, a rustic sourdough with a blend of whole wheat and rye flours, or a savory Vermont cheddar loaf. This focus on craftsmanship is a major draw for Rhode Islanders who appreciate a well-made, quality product. While some customer reviews may have mixed opinions on certain items like croissants, the overall consensus for their bread, and specifically items like the sticky bun and cheddar bread, is overwhelmingly positive. This shows that the bakery excels in a variety of items, catering to different tastes and preferences.
Beyond the baked goods, the atmosphere at Seven Stars Bakery is a key part of its appeal. The Broadway location, in particular, is noted for its "hipster vibe" and historic, Victorian architecture. With ample indoor and outdoor seating, it's a perfect spot to relax and watch the world go by. This isn't a place where you're rushed in and out; it's a place to linger, to read a book, or to enjoy a conversation. This welcoming environment, combined with friendly and efficient staff, creates a memorable experience that keeps customers coming back. The bakery's commitment to community extends to its use of local partners, sourcing ingredients like fresh eggs, cheese, and yogurt from Rhode Island farms and creameries whenever possible. This not only ensures the freshest products but also supports the local economy, a value that is highly appreciated by the Rhode Island community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1MEM tea and a variety of coffee drinks. Pastries, bread, and a few yogurt and granola options in the cooler, as well as three types of milk (pink, chocolate, and regular) and orange juice. The cheddar bread with a bit of butter is phenomenal! They don’t have sandwich options beyond butter, jam, cream cheese, nut spreads, and avocado toast, but that bread is so so so so so so good!!!
April 09 · Kristy JohnsonThe photo below is not a croissant but this bakery calls it one. Then croissant did not have any air in it. The croissant is cut in half to add the almond filling which is not traditional in anyway it’s completely flat and frankly somewhat tasteless. We’re glad we ordered a sticky bun, which was quite good
May 11 · Kenneth LawrenceOk I have to come back here for sure. I had a bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit but I think I’d rather have it on a bagel if they have them. The coffee was quite good but the biggest standout was the chocolate milk 🤣 I’m looking forward to trying new things here in the future. Check it out!
March 02 · Zachary MacDonaldGinger scone...is THE best scone in the world. All the scones are great had the lemon currant ...so good. And the chocolate almond croissant is 😋 delicious! July 14 · j bluntCame here on a visit to family from NYC. Got their Vermont Cheddar loaf which traveled super well and tasted great! Their dirty matcha was wonderful and my BF loved their cold brew. The cashier was so helpful and wonderful. Would absolutely go back on my next visit to PVD.
