Square Donuts Introduce

This is not just another donut shop; it is an Indiana institution with roots stretching back to 1967 in Terre Haute. Its legacy is literally built on a difference in shape, providing the local community with a distinctive, fun, and famously fresh take on the classic pastry.
Located on Fort Harrison Road, Square Donuts is a cherished family tradition, founded by Richard Comer Sr. The shop quickly gained renown for its innovative, signature square-shaped donuts. This clever design doesn’t just stand out; as many regulars attest, it feels like you're getting "more donut per donut." The commitment to the square shape is so strong, it even led to legal battles, proving just how protective and proud the family is of their unique Indiana invention. The Comer family tradition has carried on through three generations, ensuring that the original recipe and the fresh, soft quality remain paramount.
The appeal of Square Donuts is about more than just novelty. Customers consistently rave about the product’s incredible quality. One delighted patron described them as "hands down the BEST I’ve ever had! Super soft, crazy fresh, and they somehow stay soft even after 24 hours." This dedication to freshness is a point of pride, with daily favorites ranging from classic glazed squares and plain long johns to decadent specialty donuts like Pecan Topped Cream and Maple Frosted options.

For residents of Terre Haute and the surrounding Indiana communities, Square Donuts is worth choosing for a confluence of history, quality, and convenience. The most compelling reason is the product itself: the signature square donut is an original piece of local history that delivers on its promise of an exceptionally soft, fresh, and superior-tasting pastry. The fact that customers refer to them as the "BEST I’ve ever had" is powerful testimony to the consistent quality maintained over decades by the Comer family.
Beyond the taste, the operational services are perfectly aligned with local needs. The drive-through is a massive benefit for a quick morning run or for solo diners needing a treat on their way to work or school. When paired with the "Great coffee" feature, it becomes the ultimate quick breakfast pit stop. Furthermore, the commitment to full accessibility for all customers, from the parking lot to the restroom, shows a business that values the entire community it serves.
It is important to heed the review noting a communication breakdown in the drive-through that led to an incorrect order. This suggests that when ordering specific or non-standard items (like unfilled chocolate long johns), customers should be attentive, or better yet, opt for the quick takeout counter to confirm their order before leaving. However, this isolated customer service issue does not overshadow the decades of positive experiences and the consistently high praise for the freshness of the product.
Choosing Square Donuts means not only indulging in a delicious, freshly made treat but also supporting a three-generation, family-owned business that has been a proud, defining staple of the Terre Haute and broader Indiana bakery scene since 1967. For a truly unique and high-quality donut experience, there is simply no place else in Indiana that delivers the square deal.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I would never dream I'd be giving this place a one star because I used to love it so much. I rarely have cash these days and I am not usually able to go when they're open but I found myself under the right circumstances and in need of a pick me up today. When I pulled up I asked the lady working if they specifically had unfilled chocolate long john's to which she said yes and then I asked if they had the chocolate donuts with the white cream filling to which she also stated yes. I asked if I could get four of the unfilled and two of the filled. She proceeded to fill two bags and handed them to me as I handed her the last of my cash. I then drove on my merry way trusting that everything was in order. This was my mistake. Upon arriving home I opened the bags to discover that she had given me three glazed donuts (which were never even mentioned) and three of the filled chocolate. Not once did she say that she couldn't understand me nor that there was a communication issue at all. It's as though she just threw whatever she had available in the bags hoping I wouldn't check them and by the time I did it would be too late (they were closing in 30 minutes at that time). I was really looking forward to the pick me up and this definitely soured my day.
April 24 · Rachel RodgersOMG — these donuts are hands down the BEST I’ve ever had! Super soft, crazy fresh, and they somehow stay soft even after 24 hours… like, how is that even possible?! Square Donuts is next level. I’m obsessed!
April 26 · Carmina GonzalezEarly morning sugar run❣️My 4yr old grandson loves this morning treat. Their donuts are delicious and the storefront is in such a small cozy setting that it’s just impossible to not set a great tone for the day. From the counter display, customer service and right on through every bite of donut- It’s just perfect❣️❣️
February 27 · Brandy MichelleCash only, get with the times grandpa. Rise n Roll and Pana donuts are way better than these donuts. Too bad Terre Haute has zero donut options. Square donuts pretty much has a monopoly here. If Rise N Roll opened a location in Terre Haute this place would go out of business.
July 17 · Kyle MThe best place for donuts in the Wabash Valley! Courteous, kind, helpful staff that makes you feel welcome. All their donuts are amazing!!
