St. Paul Bagelry Nicollet Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For years, discerning residents across the Twin Cities have known that to find an authentic, chewy, and perfectly crusted bagel—the kind that truly rivals a New York original—one must make a pilgrimage to the St. Paul Bagelry. While the name pays homage to its roots, the Nicollet Avenue location in South Minneapolis has firmly established itself as a local institution, serving the essential breakfast and lunch fix for the neighborhood and beyond. This is more than just a bagel shop; it’s a friendly, women-owned small business that operates as a bustling breakfast restaurant, lunch spot, and a purveyor of finely crafted coffee, all wrapped up in a welcoming community space.
The true star of the show is the bagel itself, celebrated by local patrons for its traditional, "Brooklyn-style" preparation. This means the bagels are made from scratch, boiled in water to achieve that signature exterior crust and chewy interior, and then baked daily. It's an old-world artisan recipe that results in a product far superior to the common, bread-like options found elsewhere. The reputation of the bagels here is stellar, with one customer review simply stating, “Love love love the bagels and sandwiches.”
Recognizing that a great bagel is only the beginning, St. Paul Bagelry Nicollet excels in culinary creativity. They offer an extensive menu of innovative, cleverly named bagel sandwiches—both hot and cold—and an impressive selection of over a dozen bagel flavors and a wide variety of cream cheeses. Whether you're grabbing a dozen to share at the office, settling in for a hearty breakfast sandwich, or picking up lunch on the go, this Nicollet Avenue gem promises a satisfying and authentically crafted experience. Be prepared for a line on cool Saturday mornings, as the friendly, attentive service and amazing food draw a loyal crowd.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place has easily become a favorite. They don’t stay open late but they do open early. Depending on the time it can be a bit busy but the service is great. Street parking is usually fine. I’m not in love with their coffee but the bagels are amazing. Love love love the bagels and sandwiches.
June 03 · SheReviewzThis place does several things very well, including Brooklyn-style water bagels, attentive, friendly service, and innovative bagel sandwiches, and an eclectic assortment of cream cheeses and bagels. There was a line out the door upon my visit on a cool Saturday morning in early September. I’ll definitely be back, and again, and again!
September 06 · Critical ChrisGreat food. Came in close to close so there weren't many options, which I didn't mind at all since that's to be expected from a bagel place! Even with the smaller selection (I got a club on the Hawaiian bagel), it was absolutely delicious. Staff were also very friendly and considerate. Can't wait to go here more!
June 27 · Seth MartinezWow, what a great bagel place. I love plain bagels the most, especially at lunch time as a sandwich. We purchased sandwiches here, had some chips and ate those at a picnic by Lake Harriet. Perfect consistency of bread and corned beef. Got the Reuben and the MacGyver. Highly recommend.
June 23 · Kat SpoffordOne of the few (maybe only) bagel places that are open at 6am. The bagels are soft and warm at that time. I get the dozen special to take to work and they are always gobbled up. I also get myself an everything with cream cheese and lox and they don't skimp on the lox.
