A significant number of their mochi donuts are also celebrated for being gluten-free, a major advantage that appeals to a wide segment of the Ohio community, from those with dietary restrictions to others simply seeking a lighter, chewier treat. The shop is more than a dessert destination; it’s an Asian-owned, women-owned small business dedicated to sharing a passion for high-integrity, delicious, and unique Japanese treats with the Ohio community, making it a proud local success story.

Past and present flavors include Matcha, Classic Coffee Donut, Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Double Chocolate, Funfetti, and various fruity and savory-leaning options.
- Authentic Daifuku Mochi: For those who lived or traveled abroad, or who appreciate authentic Japanese sweets, the Daifuku Mochi is a standout. These are soft, chewy mochi balls filled with various pastes and fillings. Featured varieties have included Strawberry Red Bean, Japanese Sweet Potato, Matcha Truffle, Buckeye Daifuku, and Apple Pie Daifuku, representing a high level of artisanal skill.
- Diverse Hot and Iced Beverages: The shop, or its coffee partner, offers a selection of quality drinks perfect for pairing with a sweet treat. These include high-quality Coffee, and specialty lattes like Hojicha (roasted green tea) and Green Tea Latte, which customers describe as "smooth and flavorful."
- Dietary-Friendly Options: The use of rice flour in their mochi donuts means they are often inherently gluten-free, addressing a key need in the local bakery market and offering a delicious alternative for sensitive diets.
The Mochi Shop has quickly become a standout destination for sweet seekers in the Columbus area due to several compelling features:
- Authentic and Unique Texture: The 'mochi mochi' texture is truly their calling card—a combination of moist fluffiness and distinct chewiness that is unlike a standard American donut, highly praised by all who try it.
- Commitment to Local Business Values: The shop proudly identifies as Asian-owned and women-owned, appealing to local Ohio residents who prioritize supporting small, diverse, and community-focused enterprises.
- High-Quality Coffee Pairing: The collaboration with an adjacent coffee shop for "Great Coffee" provides a complete, high-satisfaction experience, ensuring patrons don't have to make multiple stops for their coffee and dessert.
- Focus on Seasonal and Rotating Flavors: Their menu is dynamic, with flavors rotating regularly. This strategy encourages repeat visits and keeps the selection fresh and exciting, especially around holidays with seasonal Daifuku Mochi offerings.
- Daifuku Specialization: Very few places in Columbus offer fresh, high-quality Daifuku, which provides a special treat for anyone familiar with or wanting to explore traditional Japanese confectionery.
The emphasis on high-quality ingredients, often utilizing traditional Japanese methods and modern flavor pairings (like the Daifuku filled with peanut butter and dark chocolate truffle in the 'Buckeye' variety), elevates their offerings beyond the typical bakery fare.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you haven’t already, run and go get their mochi donuts. Which one? All of them of course. They’re so good. I wish I was a local here so I can have them every morning. Moist and fluffy and gluten free? How dare you! I did end up eating everything in one sitting after trying one. Next door’s coffee coin’s coffee is perfect duo. Their coffee is very well balanced so one bite of the donut and one sip of coffee is a match made.
June 07 · heechul kwonVery cute little shop, we lived in Japan for 12 months, so having fresh Daifuku was a really special treat! And it’s really good. We also tried the hojicha and green tea latte which were very smooth and flavorful - definitely recommend stopping by.
April 22 · Sunny K BurnsIt was our first time here and we were greeted with smiles right away. The vibe was very welcoming. The owners of Coffee Coin were so friendly. Unfortunately we didn't get to personally meet the owners of Mochi Shop. We got coffee and some mochi donuts and our fave were the Strawberry Red Bean Mochi. It was so soft and chewy. My husband had to run back to get more to go. We will definitely be back. Coffee Coin 👍👍 Mochi Shop 👍👍
April 12 · ANGELAThe staff was super sweet and helpful and answered questions we had. They made great suggestions and explained everything. The donuts were fantastic! We haven't had a chance to taste our Mochi yet because the donuts were so filling but we are super excited to try it!
May 29 · Skye DemingI enjoyed the cute Ghibli decor inside! The hojicha latte was excellent. I paid $7 ($6+$1 added honey to sweeten). The donuts were also good. My husband, who is picky, said compared to the other competitors in the area it’s okay.
