Yedam Rice Cake Introduce
The culinary landscape of Gwinnett County, Georgia, is rich with diverse and authentic international flavors, and the traditional Korean bakery segment plays a significant role in providing unique specialty items for local celebrations and everyday enjoyment. Yedam Rice Cake, situated in the heart of Duluth, is a business that focuses on these traditional Korean confections, known as tteok. Tteok, or rice cake, holds deep cultural significance in Korea, often symbolizing celebration, good fortune, and family gatherings, especially during major holidays like Lunar New Year (Seollal) and Thanksgiving (Chuseok).
Operating as a specialized cake shop, Yedam Rice Cake’s primary focus is on providing these culturally important and distinctively textured rice cakes to the community in Duluth and the greater Atlanta metro area. Unlike conventional Western bakeries that specialize in flour-based cakes and pastries, Yedam Rice Cake is dedicated to the ancient craft of creating tteok. These treats are made by steaming or pounding glutinous rice flour, resulting in a wide array of textures and flavors, from the chewy, cylindrical cakes used in savory dishes like Tteokbokki to the sweet, intricately shaped confections filled with various pastes or powders.
For customers in Georgia looking to honor Korean traditions, celebrate special milestones, or simply try an authentic, fresh rice cake, Yedam Rice Cake presents itself as a source for these unique products. The business operates with a specific service model, prioritizing pre-planned orders over walk-in traffic, a common practice for specialty bakeries focusing on large, celebratory quantities of perishable goods. This approach suggests a focus on providing high-quality, made-to-order tteok for events and large family gatherings.
However, it is vital for potential customers to be fully aware of the public feedback regarding the business. A notable customer review highlights significant concerns regarding the quality of a large, pre-paid order, describing the rice cakes as "torn and unpresentable and soggy," and ultimately "ruined and inedible." Furthermore, the review details a highly negative experience with customer service, stating the owner was "rude and unprofessional," and initially refused to provide the replacement product, even going so far as to tell the customer "not to order from their shop again." This information serves as a crucial caution, suggesting that while the shop specializes in culturally specific products, prospective patrons should consider these serious complaints about product quality and customer management before placing large or important orders. The documented refusal to address quality issues professionally is a major point of consideration for any local resident valuing reliability and positive customer interaction.

For residents of Georgia, especially those in the Duluth area, the single most defining feature of Yedam Rice Cake—and what is theoretically worth choosing—is its specialization in authentic, traditional Korean rice cakes (tteok). In a region where finding fresh, high-quality, culturally specific goods can sometimes be challenging, a dedicated cake shop focusing entirely on tteok serves an important community need. The ability to order large quantities of tteok for traditional holidays or family events is a crucial service for maintaining cultural heritage. For a resident celebrating Lunar New Year and requiring fresh tteokguktteok for the soup, or hosting a baby’s first birthday (doljabi) and needing colorful, symbolic rice cakes, Yedam Rice Cake’s specific product offering fills a valuable niche that general bakeries do not.
However, it is essential that this choice is balanced with a substantial caveat: the reported serious issues with both product quality and customer service. While the product itself is worth seeking out for its authenticity, the public record includes a recent, severe complaint about receiving a "ruined and inedible" order, compounded by the owner's unprofessional and rude response. For any Georgia local considering this business, especially for a significant event, it is crucial to understand that the risk of product quality issues and poor customer resolution is a documented reality.
Therefore, the decision to choose Yedam Rice Cake must be made with eyes wide open: if the need for a specific, traditional Korean rice cake variety outweighs the publicly documented risks regarding customer service and quality control, then the specialty product is available here. It is highly recommended that customers place a very small, non-essential test order first to gauge current product quality and confirm the appointment-required process before committing to a large, expensive, or high-stakes event order. Transparency regarding the potential for negative experiences is paramount for local consumers making an informed choice.

Yedam Rice Cake Reviews
Ordered a large order of Thanksgiving rice cakes for an event. Half of the rice cakes were torn and unpresentable and soggy. They were ruined and inedible When issue was brought to owners attention owner not only refused to do anything but responded in a rude and unprofessional manner stating that they would not provide rice cakes that were already paid for. Only when the authorities we're almost contacted did she provide the already paid for rice cakes. Furthermore the owner rudely told us not to order from their shop again. Do not order from this business horrible treatment of customers and customer service. Does not care about quality of product or customers and does not deserve to be in business.
