Ararat Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Nestled in the vibrant community of Tujunga, a key neighborhood within the City of Los Angeles, Ararat Bakery stands as a local resource for a delicious variety of baked goods, specializing in the rich culinary traditions of Armenian and European pastries. For residents across the San Fernando Valley and the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, this bakery offers a convenient spot to grab everything from morning coffee and a quick bite to traditional flatbreads and savory items. The name "Ararat" itself is a nod to a significant symbol in Armenian culture, reflecting the authentic heritage and specialized offerings that this local business brings to the diverse California food scene.
Ararat Bakery functions as a vital neighborhood spot, catering to both locals who grew up with these flavors and new patrons eager to explore the Middle Eastern and Caucasian culinary landscape that is so prevalent in Southern California. Unlike large, commercial chains, this bakery is rooted in local service, emphasizing traditional recipes and quick, accessible service options. The focus is on providing baked goods that are not only tasty but also rooted in cultural tradition, such as Armenian flatbreads, *gata* (Armenian sweet bread), and various savory puff pastries like *boerek*. These specialized items make it a unique destination compared to standard American bakeries.
As a local establishment, the bakery operates primarily with a Takeout model, designed for customers on the go who need a quick and easy stop. While customer feedback occasionally points to inconsistencies in quality control—highlighting the importance of asking about freshness, particularly for delicate pastries—the overall community presence remains strong. The positive interactions, where employees sometimes offer extra bread or pastries, showcase a local, goodwill approach that contributes to the neighborhood charm. For Californians seeking authentic, regionally-specific baked goods for a fast, satisfying treat, Ararat Bakery on Foothill Boulevard serves as a dedicated, accessible source.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I specifically asked for fresh pastries and picked two different roulettes…Both turned out to be stale with bad cream. Very disappointing!God knows what’s going on in the back prep rooms!I returned both pastries, and the cashier took my information and phone number to process a refund since the owner wasn’t present. Unfortunately, no one ever followed through.Poor quality control and unprofessional service.Won’t be returning, and I don’t recommend this bakery.
August 21 · Mayis MegThe bakery is great, and the pastry quality is about the same or better compared to other similar places I've tried. I just think the quality in all bakeries went down overtime in the last 10 years but they still taste fine. One of the employees was honest that three pastries was from last night and when I asked for two, she gave me all three for the price of two, which was nice of her. I also went back to say thank you to a different employee, because she gave me an extra loaf of bread for free, when I only asked for six. She wasn't there, but the way I said it to one of the other employees makes it sound like she charged me extra, so I hope my compliment wasn't misunderstood and didn't accidentally get her in trouble.
July 21 · Dante AvyanIf you want fresh bake goods, this is not your bakery. The sweet bread which I liked is not make daily only when old one is sold per assistant. I tried the custard nazook and it was old and expensive. Service poor except the young assistant who is sweet and helpful.
July 15 · Lexsy MarroTerrible Bakery. All there desserts have been there for days they are all mushy. Terrible employees they have such bad attitude towards costumers it’s like I’m begging for free food I’m just trying to buy barbari and they always give me stale bread one time I told my daughter to go in and buy bollios and came out with over 10 of them and stale they wanted to trick my daughter and give her all the stale bread. Today I went in and bought a chocolate covered strawberries and turns out they don’t wash them.
April 29 · AllisonWe bought cake pops and asked the worker if they contained any nuts due to severe nut allergy and she assured me that it is nut free. I asked 3 times if she was sure if it was nut free and she said yes with an attitude. While my kid was eating it, we discovered a piece of walnut in the cake pop. This is very unacceptable as nut allergies are life threatening! I'm very upset and I will never come to this bakery again! If you are not sure if it is nut free, you should not give incorrect information!
