Barrio Bakery Introduce
Hello, fellow Vermonters! If you’re searching for a place that perfectly blends the aroma of freshly baked goods with the comforting hum of a true neighborhood gathering spot, then Barrio Bakery in Burlington is a must-visit. Nestled in the heart of the Old North End, Barrio Bakery is much more than just a place to grab a coffee and a pastry; it’s a vibrant community hub where quality ingredients, traditional baking, and a warm, inviting atmosphere come together to create a delightful experience. From the first sip of your morning coffee to the last bite of a perfectly crafted scone, Barrio Bakery aims to be a great start to your day, or a delicious stop any time.
Originally established as Panadero Bakery in 1999, which started as a cottage business at the Burlington Farmers' Market before opening its storefront in 2006, the bakery underwent a transformation in 2013, rebranding as Barrio Bakery. This change reflected the vision of owners Ryan and Jessica Bunce, who desired a name that truly encapsulated their concept: a "barrio" meaning "neighborhood" in Spanish, emphasizing their role as a central gathering place for the community. The bakery quickly became known for its expertly brewed Vermont Artisan coffee and a wide array of meticulously crafted pastries and breads, all made from scratch. It’s a spot where the sun streams through large windows, gently warming the delicious treats, and where the air is filled with enticing aromas, inviting everyone in for a moment of peace and pleasure.
Barrio Bakery is conveniently located at 197 N Winooski Ave, Burlington, VT 05401, USA. Situated in Burlington's Old North End, it’s an integral part of a thriving neighborhood. While street parking might be typical for this part of Burlington, the bakery’s location makes it easily accessible for residents and visitors exploring the area on foot or by bicycle. Its presence in the Old North End positions it as a go-to spot for those living nearby, offering a convenient stop for a morning coffee on the commute, a midday treat, or even a post-work pizza. The cozy, sun-filled space is designed to feel like a "neighborhood's living room or, more so, the neighborhood's dining room," as one of the owners aptly put it, creating an inviting environment for everyone who walks through its doors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- This coffee and space are lovely this morning, even the kids 2 tables down are in a carb haze of joy, nodding along with the country music playing in the background, setting the tone for the hot Summer morning. The caffeine is pulsing through my veins, nutty undertones with a hint of the vanilla sugar I dropped in from the sugar bar are pulling my hand up and down and down and up, people walk in and out, lavish greetings from co-workers and subdued hellos from friends echo thru my slow awakening. Yes, please. Next time, I’ll look closer at the baked goods, there was a ham and cheese calling Alex’s name. This is a GREAT start to your day. June 23 · Jamie Ginsberg
- At 12:15 on a nice weather Saturday, many of the top options had sold out. Hard to judge. Raspberries Rhubarb bar was delicious. Barista was ready for the day to end. June 08 · Ken Crites
- Fantastic bakery with exquisite baked goods. The cookie we got was fantastic and so were our chai and matcha lattes. I have been wanting to stop by here for some time and so glad I did today during the ramble. This bakery is the epitome of an amazing food venue and part of what makes Burlington an amazing place! Stop by for a coffee and a baked good and enjoy the nice music, artwork and delightful atomosphere!! July 29 · Philip Yazbak
- London Fog, ham & cheese croissant, and bacon & egg on brioche - an excellent lunch. The order was quick, and the barista even let us use a sharp knife to cut the sandwiches.Nice, neighborhood vibe that didn't feel crowded even when all the seating was occupied. February 25 · Philip Hardebeck
