What is Worth Choosing Baygulls Bakery
For residents of the Tampa area, Baygulls Bakery is worth choosing for several compelling reasons that extend beyond their core product. Firstly, the bakery fills a critical need for an accessible, authentic-style bagel experience in a highly populated part of Florida. While the definition of "New York" bagel may be subject to debate—a common and sometimes humorous point of contention among Florida transplants—the consensus among many local patrons is that the bagels themselves are fresh, flavorful, and a significant step up from mass-produced alternatives. The ability to choose from unique bagel doughs, such as the savory Asiago Red Pepper or the innovative Coffee flavor, and pair them with creative schmears like Sriracha Honey provides a level of customization that is highly valued.
Secondly, the menu’s breadth offers excellent value and variety. Where else can a local customer find a premium Smoked Salmon sandwich right alongside a regional favorite like a Guava & Cheese Pastelito? This fusion of classic Northern bakery fare with beloved Florida treats makes Baygulls a culinary crossroads that caters to the diverse palates of the Tampa Bay community. The inclusion of specialty drinks, like a full espresso bar featuring Latte and Cortado options, ensures that the quality of the coffee matches the quality of the baked goods.
Finally, supporting Baygulls Bakery is an investment in a local, inclusive, and socially conscious business. As a certified small business that clearly promotes an LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safespace environment, it stands out as an establishment dedicated to fostering a positive community. The ease of the experience, facilitated by ample Free parking lot access and an efficient Takeout service model, seals the deal for busy Floridians. While one review points out a logistical issue that was ultimately corrected by the owner, the overwhelmingly positive feedback about the quality of the food and the commitment to correcting errors reflects a business that strives for customer satisfaction. For a delicious, fresh, and welcoming start to the day, Baygulls Bakery is a clear local favorite.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Saw a reel on FB about this place and my wife wanted to try these NY bagels. I met the owner who was a super nice guy with a killer beard. Very vibrant place inside and love how they display the various types of bagels. I grabbed a Salmon on the cheddar pepper bagel and also got a bacon cheddar with avocado smear. Holy cow that bagel was fantadtic and the Salmon sandwich was unreal. I highly recommend this hidden gem and wish they had one in Pinellas county side!
September 07 · David MorenoLet me start by saying I’m from NJ, worked in NY for years, and I know what a real New York bagel is. This place is absolutely not it and it’s honestly disgraceful that they even market themselves that way. From the moment we walked in, the experience was off. No greeting, no welcome, nothing. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and tomato, salt and pepper, they said no tomatoes,Fine. Then I asked for a pork roll, egg, and cheese and they didn’t even know what pork roll was (how are you marketing you’re from up north and do not know what a pork roll is or have it.) and started telling us about a bagel hotdog which was comical thinking it compared in anyway. That was some of the first red flags.I ordered two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches with salt, pepper, ketchup, and mentioned we had a coupon. The cashier cut me off with an attitude and said, “Well I already rang you up so… you can use it next time.” Strange, but I let it go still trying to have hope in these bagels. We waited 10 minutes and got our order missing salt, pepper, and ketchup and the bagels weren’t even cut in half. We asked them to fix it, waited another 5 minutes, and when we finally got home we discovered they had sliced the bagels without removing the foil, leaving shards of tin foil inside. At that point, it became unacceptable. I had to drive all the way back because I refuse to pay $20 for two sandwiches with barely-cooked bacon and literal foil pieces in them. When we went back, the owner did apologize and remake the order with a refund but by then the damage was done. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and it was one mistake and inconvenience after another.Even after the remake, the bagels were bland, the bacon chewy with no flavor not two mention how little amount of bacon there was for this $9 bagel, and the only thing that added taste was the ketchup. For the outrageous prices they charge, the quality was nowhere near what’s advertised.Bottom line: Don’t call yourself a New York bagel shop if you’re not from there and can’t live up to that standard. This was extremely underwhelming, both the food and the entire experience. Definitely not worth the money or time.
August 23 · natalie kosciarzBoiled and never frozen in other words a REAL bagel. Great service. Clean. No tables, but have 8 seats at a bar. Also has full coffee service with house made syrups. I had the Asiago red pepper with regular cc (picture)
September 24 · Suzanne GallagherAs soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the many varieties of bagels to your right and a seating area to your left. The staff is very friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have. No downsides except for not having mayo and not cutting the bagels in half after adding the schmear (which they are super generous with). My girls enjoyed the bakery and asked to go again. Oh... they also have little reward cards offering a free 13th bagel after purchasing 12. They'll hole-punch the cards after every purchase. Enjoy!!
September 07 · Alex CIt would be nice if you carry diet soda or water. The bacon egg and cheese bagel tasted good. The bacon was really good. The bagel I would consider above average. Good but didn’t blow me away. I would go back to eat there again. I would just need to bring my own water.
