Botanical Bakeshop Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Botanical Bakeshop represents one of the most exciting and unique retail concepts to recently emerge in Portland, Oregon. Situated in the heart of the Woodstock neighborhood, this establishment is far more than a typical
Bakery
; it is a dynamic,hybrid
space where two distinct, but complementary, businesses thrive under one roof. It is the collective home ofShop Halo Halo
—a Filipino-inspired bakery offering a "mix mix" of baked goods and sweets—andDaphne's Botanicals
—a beautiful houseplant and design shop. This visionary collaboration between two Filipina entrepreneurs, Geleen Abenoja (the baker) and Daphne Peters (the plant expert), has created a lush, inviting environment that aims to be a true
community hub
for the local Filipino and broader BIPOC community in Portland. Visitors are treated to an experience that engages all the senses: the aroma of fresh baking and coffee, the visual delight of gorgeous houseplants and Filipino-inspired decor, and the delicious taste of culturally rich pastries. The interior, described as warm and inviting, features a living plant wall, rich wood paneling, and comfortable seating areas, making it a wonderful place to relax in SE Portland.Shop Halo Halo is particularly significant as it is noted to be one of just two brick-and-mortar Filipino bakeries in Portland, and the only one on the East Side, bringing authentic and creative Filipino flavors—like ube, calamansi, and pandan—to the forefront of Oregon's dessert scene. This business is a true testament to entrepreneurship, having successfully crowdfunded its launch, highlighting strong community support before even opening its doors.

Dalgona coffee
and the unique, savorycorned beef pandesal

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Beautiful plants and delicious goodies! What more could we ask for?? The space is wonderful and inviting, and lots of options for additional plant care, rather than just plants. It was a wonderful place to visit and I already can't wait to go back.
August 05 · Katie Stone-WarnerThe Dalgona coffee was excellent, but the ube pandesal with cheese was a bit too firm for my liking. I would have preferred it to be a bit softer.
January 15 · Koko BoboCORNED BEEF PANDESAL — unique as a bakery offering but a classic to Filipinos. It is divine. I ordered one, ate it, then ordered another one. The other pastries I got were good, but do not miss out on this little savory treasure. 🇵🇭-certified.Dalgona coffee was excellently made and has a surprisingly good price considering its craftmanship and the average price of coffee in Portland. Also vibes were immaculate — plants and local + bipoc art.Highly recommend this gem.
October 08 · Stephanie GonzalesTwo staff members made unwelcoming remarks when my partner and I entered the shop 30 minutes before closing. The conversation went on for two minutes before we decided to leave. They not only talked about us, but the person that arrived a minute after. We knew that they were closing at 4 pm, and planned to make it a quick trip for some cupcakes to go.
September 16 · Andres GonzalezNot sure how staff members talking loudly about “annoying customers who come in a half an hour before closing” isn’t directed at my boyfriend and I as we walked in at 328… but anyway we were treated extremely poorly and left from being so uncomfortable within a few minutes without buying anything. The response from the business to my boyfriend not taking accountability and trying to instead act like that somehow was not directed at us when they not only started the conversation when we walked in but also looked at us multiple times and did not greet or acknowledge us is bonkers. Super crumby behavior and I’ve worked in over 6 different customer service job and would never treat people like that, both in and out of a work setting there is no reason to be unkind to people. Can’t support a business that doesn’t own up to it when their workers act that way personally.
