Bung Da-Bang Introduce
For residents of Northern Virginia seeking an authentic taste of Korean street food dessert, Bung Da-Bang in Annandale has swiftly established itself as a must-visit destination. Located conveniently within the popular K-Market food court, this specialized bakery focuses primarily on mastering one of Korea’s most beloved and nostalgic snacks: Bungeoppang (often known by its Japanese counterpart name, Taiyaki).
Bungeoppang is a charming, fish-shaped pastry cooked in a waffle-iron-like mold. What sets Bung Da-Bang’s version apart—and what has earned it strong local praise—is its commitment to perfect texture. The pastries are famously crispy on the outside and delightfully chewy and gooey on the inside, a quality many customers attribute to the likely use of sweet rice flour (mochi) in the batter. This texture creates a sensational contrast that elevates the simple snack into a truly memorable dessert experience.
While the traditional filling is sweet red bean paste, Bung Da-Bang offers a range of innovative sweet and savory choices, ensuring there is a perfect 'fish' for every palate. The experience is further complemented by their addition of Bingsu—Korea's iconic shaved ice dessert—making this small shop a powerhouse for genuine Korean sweet treats. Known for its friendly, family-owned service and exceptional quality, Bung Da-Bang is a true gem in the Annandale food scene.
Bung Da-Bang is situated in a high-traffic, easily accessible area of Annandale, VA, specifically within the bustling K-Market food court. This placement offers Virginia customers the convenience of combining their grocery shopping with a delightful dessert stop.

Key Features and Highlights:
- Unmatched Texture (The "Crispy and Chewy" Factor): This is the defining feature of the bakery. Patrons often claim it surpasses other popular national chains in this regard.

- Savory and Sweet Variety: While many similar shops stick to sweet fillings, Bung Da-Bang provides savory options like Kimchi and Pizza Bungeoppang, appealing to a broader range of tastes and offering a unique snack option.
- High-Quality Bingsu Dessert: The Bingsu is highlighted by customers as being "awesome" and "ideally sweetened," providing a superb cold dessert option that uses thoughtful additions like a cornflake base and fresh fruit toppings.
- Family-Owned Atmosphere: The shop operates as a small, family-owned business, noted for its friendly and nice service, offering a personal touch that enhances the customer experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ha! First post. This place is awesome. It's inside the K-Market food court. They only make bung eu pang aka taiyaki. But I think they're a million times better than Rice Culture. If you eat it while it's hot and fresh it's soo crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I'm pretty sure they use sweet rice flour aka mochi which gives it it's chewy glutinous inside and crispy outside texture. Selection is a bit smaller on flavors compared to rice culture. But I think they're far better. If you order a different flavor than the red bean you might have to wait a few minutes for them to make you a fresh new one. Totally worth the wait.I've had the red bean, Nutella, pizza, and kimchi, and custard. All were great!I believe it's a small family owned business. They're really nice.Bring cash if buying less than $10. Minimum credit card order is $10.Edit June 13 2025: They have Bingsoo now. Basically shaved ice. I got the Mango one: has mochi balls, mango, corn flakes at the bottom. Really good!!!!Also only open friday, saturday, and sunday.
June 13 · David YiThis place is a gem. Definitely recommend. Our family loves Somi Somi because of the crispy outside and the gooey inside next to the creamy custard. I can say that Bung Da Bang rivals Somi Somi in texture and taste. Their Bingsoo was awesome as well. Ideally sweetened with mango toppings and cornflake base layer.
July 05 · Mark AndrewBest taiyaki in the dmv, Underrated spot! I will try their binsoo next time. Satisfied ☺️
