Butter Love Bakeshop Introduce
In the heart of San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood lies a delightful culinary haven: Butter Love Bakeshop. This charming local spot has built its entire reputation—and its name—around the foundational ingredient that makes all great pastries sing: butter. The philosophy of the bakeshop is simple yet profound, rooted in the idea that "pie is love and love is best made with butter," making it a must-visit for any California local or visitor seeking genuine, scratch-made comfort food.
Butter Love Bakeshop is not just a place for sweets; it’s a full-service bakery specializing in an expansive range of pies—both sweet and savory—alongside a tempting assortment of cakes, cookies, and other daily-baked goods. They take an old-fashioned approach to their craft, relying on recipes passed down through generations and a commitment to using high-quality ingredients, resulting in products that consistently taste homemade and are crafted with visible care. The moment you step through the door, you are greeted by the sweet, inviting aroma of freshly baked goods and a cozy, quaint atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
While the name suggests a focus on the sweet side, the bakeshop is equally famous for its substantial and flavorful savory pies, which have garnered high praise from the local community. Whether you're in the mood for an indulgent breakfast treat, a hearty lunch, or a celebratory dessert, Butter Love Bakeshop offers an impressive variety for every occasion and craving. It’s an ideal spot for a quick, high-quality visit in the busy San Francisco day.

- Payment Flexibility: They accept a variety of modern payment methods, including Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments.
What makes Butter Love Bakeshop a standout destination for California bakery enthusiasts are its distinct characteristics and celebrated menu items:
- The Incredibly Buttery Crust: This is the bakery's signature feature. Their pie dough is made with all butter, creating layers that are perfectly flaky, rich, and truly exceptional—the foundation for all their acclaimed pies.
- Famous Savory Pies: Beyond the sweets, their Chicken Pot Pies are legendary, frequently called the best by customers. They also offer a range of other savory comforts, including Vegetable Pot Pies, Shepherd's Pie (Lamb), Cottage Pie (Beef), and Breakfast Pies.
- Signature Butter Pie: This specialty pie is a must-try. It is similar to a pecan pie but without the nuts and is often described as a dense, less eggy cross between a toffee-like confection and a pastry.
- Diverse Pastry and Cake Selection: The bakeshop excels in variety, offering items like bread pudding, Nutella filled donuts (praised for their flaky, buttery layers), classic and seasonal Scones, cakes (such as Jessa's Birthday Cake, Angel Food Cake, and seasonal cakes), and various cookies and buns like Sticky Buns and Cinnamon Buns.
- Inclusion of Gluten-Free Options: The bakery makes an effort to serve customers with dietary needs, offering gluten-free baked goods, such as brownies and carrot cake, typically available on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Specialty Coffee Offerings: To perfectly complement their baked goods, they offer a full coffee menu including Drip Coffee, Pour Over Decaf, Au Lait, Housemade Chai, and Hot Chai Cider.

For anyone visiting Butter Love Bakeshop, the key is to indulge in the items that best exemplify their commitment to a buttery, homemade experience. While the rotating selection of cakes and fresh scones are excellent, there are a few items that stand out as essential choices.
First, you absolutely must try one of the Savory Pies. The Chicken Pot Pie receives unanimous high praise for its fresh, flavorful filling of chicken and vegetables, perfect consistency, and the sheer comfort of its renowned, all-butter crust. It’s hearty enough for a satisfying lunch or dinner and is a testament to the fact that pie is truly for all meals, not just dessert. Other savory options like the Vegetable Pot Pie or seasonal Savory Galettes are also highly recommended for a delicious and comforting meal.
Second, on the sweet side, the Butter Pie is the bakery’s namesake specialty and a singular experience. It is unlike traditional nut or custard pies, presenting a dense, toffee-like interior with that unforgettable buttery crust. It's a rich, celebratory choice that embodies the bakeshop's identity.
Finally, for a smaller, indulgent treat, the Nutella Filled Donut is a perfect choice. Praised by customers for its perfect balance of flaky, buttery layers and sweet filling, it showcases the bakery's technical skill with laminated dough and its flair for decadent flavor combinations. When paired with one of their specialty coffee drinks, like the Housemade Chai, you have the ideal pairing for a cozy moment in the Outer Richmond.

I often walk my dogs to the Golden Gate dog park and then walk up 39th St. to Balboa make a right and either stop at laundromat or at butter love bakery. Usually butter love bakery wins out. And I get myself a delicious pastry and coffee. Today I picked up an Ube and coconut croissant. The sweetness was delicate and tasted of butter and crisp delights. I totally recommend.

January 13 · PJ PasrichaGenuinely the best chicken pot pies I’ve ever had. My partner and I both ordered one each at first, then promptly ordered a second round right after finishing the first. We also got almond butter pie and sweet potato pie, which were both fantastic. Had a little patio in the back to eat at, and the workers were all super sweet!
