★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fantastic French bakery! Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through Issaquah. To start with, the pastry case is loaded with traditional French pastries, but often blended with unique flavors. You absolutely must get a cream puff (the raspberry, or anything fruity, is my favorite). But beware: these aren't your nanas cream puffs. These are hefty, the size of a baseball, with a lovely crunchy topping and plenty of cream. I'd also recommend at least one kind of croissant (I like the savory ham one) and a kouign amann—both super flaky and delicious, especially warmed up. Lastly, the blackberry almond financier is an unexpected favorite. It tastes like the best muffin you've ever had. Definitely grab one of those. In addition to the pastries, they have a cafe serving hot and cold drinks. I tried the house-made hibiscus lemonade and I'd highly recommend it if you like a sweet drink. They also offer an extensive menu of entrees. The reuben (supposedly legendary) is indeed delicious—it's not particularly unique, just a classic executed really well. The fried egg sandwich is also really tasty. The quiche is delicious, but I gotta be honest: it's mostly cheese, so it's pretty dense and heavy. If you're into that, it's delicious, but if you're looking for a more traditional, light quiche, you might wanna skip this one. The French toast is fine but nothing special, similar to what you'd find at any diner.Crumble & Flake is worth going out of your way for! Truly excellent food!
September 05 · Kyle CooleyWe did not to want to eat yet another hotel breakfast. We Googled and found this place. Oh my, what a treat! I ordered the fried egg sandwich and my husband ordered a cubano. Each sandwich came with a bag of Tim’s Cascade chips and 4 of the tiniest, yet tastiest pickles I’ve had. (Btw, I’m a pickle snob.) We also ordered one tart each to enjoy later. We took our food to go because we had seen a park nearby and had decided to have an impromptu picnic there. The atmosphere was bright, clean, and inviting and had the weather not been agreeable, we would’ve stayed to eat there. Back to the food - the sandwiches were so good! Nothing overpowering and just enough that each ingredient complimented the others. We haven’t eaten our tarts yet and I will edit my review if needed…but I doubt I will need to. Whether you are looking for something sweet or savory, snack size, or meal size. They have it and it is worth the stop.
August 30 · Rebecca LongVery cute place with alot of outdoor seating. The chocolate croissant and black sesame Kroign Amann were absolutely delicious, flavors and textures were perfect. We were however very disappointed in the peach blueberry and sour cherry almond tarts. They were basically tasteless, extremely dry, and the crust was bland; more like a scone than a tart. Maybe they weren’t fresh or they simply weren’t to our liking. Will go back for other things but staying away from the fruit tarts. Service was friendly and outdoor patio was very relaxing.
September 05 · Deborah HennenI was curious to try this place because of the name. It definitely has its victorian charm, there were at least a couple of pastry options you’d not find in other places and I liked that the pistachio filled gateau was not too sweet. I wish the food options were not regular sandwiches, I was expecting a little more exciting options for food. There is no espresso machine so you get regular coffee, which is not a big deal for me personally
November 02 · MDHBest in my life blueberry claufuti. I normally don’t write reviews but this pastry deserves all the praise. The pastry is ideally flaky, the filling a perfect buttery match and the blueberry very refreshing.
