For Washington locals seeking a genuinely unique and high-quality take on the classic American treat, Half and Half Doughnut Co. stands out as an essential destination in Seattle’s dynamic Capitol Hill neighborhood. This is not your average donut stop; it’s an artisanal venture that combines traditional donut-making with a flair for modern, gourmet flavor combinations. Features / Highlights
The core identity of Half and Half Doughnut Co. is defined by its innovative menu items and its commitment to quality ingredients, making it a one-of-a-kind Seattle experience.
- Specialty Old Fashioned Donuts: They are celebrated for their take on the old fashioned donut, which is often described as moist and fresh, winning over customers who traditionally are "not a fan" of the cake-style donut. Must-try flavors include the La Canela Old Fashioned (maple-cinnamon glaze), Triple Chocolate Old Fashioned, and the Black and White Chocolate Old Fashioned.
- Gourmet Fritters and Twists: The Pineapple Fritter is an all-time best seller and a customer favorite, praised for its caramelized pineapple filling. The Georgette Cinnamon Twist is another highly popular, top-liked item, described as a twisted raised donut tossed in butter, cinnamon, and sugar.
- Innovative Filled Doughnuts ("Bombas" and Bismarks): The shop offers unique, filled varieties such as the "Bombas" (mini filled donuts) and Bismarks. Popular unique flavors include the rich Bananas Foster Filled Bomba or Bismark (with banana caramel filling) and the Marocchino Filled varieties (featuring a coffee caramel whipped filling).

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Half and Half Doughnut Co. means opting for artisanal quality and adventurous flavors over mass-produced simplicity. For Washington residents, particularly those around the Capitol Hill and downtown core, this shop offers something genuinely different and of superior quality.
What is most worth choosing is their commitment to the old fashioned style and the sheer innovation in their flavors. Unlike many large-scale operations, Half and Half has taken the often-overlooked old fashioned—a dense, cake-style donut—and perfected it, making it moist and delicious enough to convert non-fans. You must try the La Canela Old Fashioned or the rich Triple Chocolate Old Fashioned.
Secondly, their specialty fritters and filled items are a must-have. The Pineapple Fritter is legendary in local circles and for good reason—it’s an elevated, caramelized take on the classic fritter. Additionally, the filled "Bombas" and Bismarks, like the Bananas Foster flavor, showcase their talent for incorporating complex dessert profiles into their fried dough, ensuring an indulgent and memorable bite.
Finally, the combination of a gourmet donut paired with their great coffee makes this an ideal stop for a high-quality, quick breakfast or afternoon pick-me-up. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming, and perfect for the solo diner, allowing you to enjoy your delicious treat and coffee in a comfortable Capitol Hill setting. In a city with many donut shops, Half and Half Doughnut Co. stands apart by providing a true "one of a kind" experience focused on premium ingredients and bold, handcrafted flavors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Half and Half was awesome! I am so glad that I found this donut shop!I had the black and white flavor old fashioned donut as well as the La Canela flavor old fashioned donut. Both flavors were delicious. I am usually not a fan of an old fashioned donut, but these were different, and I am a fan! The donuts were fresh and had a delicious taste and were moist. It is a small shop with a very hipster type of vibe and my wife and I loved it. I definitely recommend half & half for delicious donuts!
April 08 · Victoria HGreat glazed mochi and banana caramel Bismark donuts. The old-fashioned was dry, but had good yuzu flavor. I was hoping for a greater selection of donuts, especially on National Donut Day. Drip coffee is good. Glad we could try it on our trip to Seattle.
June 12 · T LewisBeen going to this place for a few years but it's really getting on my nerves lately. The donuts are excellent don't get me wrong, this place is just never open or even bothers making donuts.A while ago they changed their operating hours. Don't be misled by Google saying it's temporarily closed, it isn't. The owner for some reason won't fix it. They're supposed to be open Wednesday through Sunday. Except sometimes they'll just not open one of those days despite the sign on the front saying they're open. No explanation and no notice since the Google page still hasn't been fixed. This isn't even the mention that there's been times where I've been there when they're open within the first 30 minutes and they haven't even started making donuts yet?? How??? They also were closed all through pax weekend despite that falling under their normal operating hours. I saw so many people try to go in walking to the convention center just for it to be closed.Like the food is amazing and I WANT to give this place my money. They are just not consistently open or even have anything to purchase. Blows my mind they don't make donuts early it seems.Unfortunately I expect to see an article one day announcing it's closing and I'll have to be in the comment section saying how it's because they're never open.
September 08 · Damian MStumbled upon this shop today, 11/23/24 and saw the donuts through the window. It’s a small cute shop and the donuts are delicious! In the photo (yes I have tried each) are the triple chocolate, the vanilla old fashioned, the chocolate covered vanilla old fashioned, and the Georgette. All of them taste fantastic!! 10/10 no notes!
November 24 · Noah StarerI really enjoyed the donuts from Half and Half, I would recommend them even if they're on the road pricier side. I personally really like the Mexican chocolate original and the pineapple fritter most but the chocolate hazelnut donut was also pretty good. The filling wasn't that sweet, which is what I really liked about this place. The dragon fruit one wasn't my favorite but if you like sweets I think you might like it. I personally don't love the tea here, they could have a better selection but what can you do? Seattle is a coffee city.
