Joliet Bakery Deli & Liquors Introduce
In the heart of Joliet, Illinois, there exists a truly unique local business that defies simple categorization. Joliet Bakery Deli & Liquors, affectionately—and unofficially—known by its younger clientele as "The Drunken Donut," is a one-of-a-kind establishment that masterfully blends three distinct functions under one roof. By day, it is a traditional neighborhood bakery and Polish deli, serving up fresh-baked goods and authentic, homemade European comfort food. As the sun sets, however, it transforms into a vibrant, communal hub for the local music scene, hosting live bands and open mic nights. This dual identity makes it an irreplaceable "unique gem" in Will County, offering a deep sense of community that resonates across generations.
The charismatic owner, Stan, is often praised as the heart and soul of the business—a somewhat older, charismatic Polish deli owner who has fostered a genuine bond with both the steady flow of regular daytime customers and the younger music scenesters who gather at night. For decades, he has been known for his culinary skills, particularly his authentic Polish dishes, and his dedication to supporting local, original music. His shop is more than just a convenience; it's a social and cultural institution that offers a welcoming, uncorrupted, and communal atmosphere reminiscent of historic local venues. It is a place where Illinois residents can start their morning with a donut and coffee, and end their week by discovering their next favorite local band.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Stan the owner is a nice man. I began to patron both the bakery/deli during the day and the bar at night almost 20 years ago. The younger scene began there on what I think originally was Thursday nights and 20 somethings began branding it the "drunken donut" and soon after Stan, a somewhat older charismatic polish deli owner, made friends with the music scenesters especially the younger ones that desperately needed a local venue to believe in them. An old friend and former band member Eddie was a big part of this initial and continued bond. À unique gem, not corrupted. The 2010s and 2020s Fireside Bowl of Joliet but even more communal.
December 29 · Jamie AlbertJoliet bakery deli and liqours is a very unique one of a kind place in joliet. During the day there is a steady flow of regular customers getting donuts and baked goods and bu night time it's a place where the musical youth crowd gather for live bands. The owner is a polish gentleman who makes amazing food. Half of his store is the bar/bakery and the other half is a small european grocery section. During the covid crisis he was making homemade carry out pierogies and sausage. Hands down a good price for some homemade food. He has a shop that gives Joliet a sense of community.CHEERSTry the pierogies
June 19 · Mark StrombergPlease note: The bakery portion doesn't exist any longer. There is a band area and a bar area. No bakery.
May 24 · Donna BlagojevicVery nice place I never noticed before. They have small bands playing her in an intimate setting. Beer is ice cold and the setting has a cool vibe to it. Very retro, barkeep is not friendly but if he was I think it would ruin the image. Go here for a cold brew and hot local music
June 18 · Kevin GriffinsFeels like home. Feels like you’re kicking it in a garage with some pals. Seriously if you want somewhere that feels warm and welcoming this is it! Hidden gem in Joliet
