Kalye 80's Bakeshop Introduce
For residents and food enthusiasts in the Central Virginia area, Kalye 80's Bakeshop represents a delicious and culturally significant new addition to the Charlottesville culinary scene. More than just a traditional bakery, Kalye 80's is the first dedicated **Filipino Bakery** in the city, bringing authentic, fresh-baked Filipino flavors to the community. The name itself, "Kalye 80's," is deeply rooted in the concept of "kalye" (street) bakeries from the Philippines in the 1980s, reflecting a desire by the owners to recreate that sense of warmth, nostalgia, and community gathering around simple, heartfelt bread.
Located conveniently in Charlottesville, this bakeshop offers a unique array of pastries and breads that are often hard to find outside of major metropolitan areas. For local Virginia users, this means direct access to freshly baked items like **Ensaymada** (a sweet, fluffy brioche-like roll topped with butter, sugar, and grated cheese) and the vibrant **Ube (purple yam) baked goodies**. The quality and authenticity are immediately apparent, drawing in not only adventurous eaters but also members of the local Filipino community, which is often seen as a reliable endorsement of genuine flavor. As the owners, including bakers Oscar and Mark, have translated a lifelong passion into a thriving new venture, Kalye 80's Bakeshop stands as a beacon of cultural connection, where "bread tells stories, sparks nostalgia, and builds cultural connections."
The reviews consistently praise the freshness and variety, noting that the "yummies" are "fresh baked." This dedication to baking continuously is a hallmark of quality that Virginia patrons appreciate. It has quickly become known as a great place for a quick stop to pick up a treat for the family or a unique dessert for an event, adding a distinct and enriching layer to the diverse food landscape of Charlottesville.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Pretty pastries mainly in what I would call yeast roll dough. I really liked the large cake dough cupcake and the twisted pastry with the brown filling. Was confused about the pricing for a half dozen because I wasn’t sure what was named what and I got an assortment and my first time in but all very reasonable. Looking forward to coming back in. Wishing you much success in your new venture.

September 19 · kathleen eastThis place is amazing! The customer service is outstanding and the baked goods are out of this world delicious!! It is a bit hidden in the shopping center so just drive around the back. You do NOT want to miss out on giving them a try!!
September 27 · Nikk WarI had a fantastic experience the customer service was lovely. The lady explained what everything was and was so nice. I tried a few items like the Torta, Ube Pandesal and the Choco German. I suggest trying everything it was delicious and will come back again! The only thing is it's hard to spot the store front so make sure to go the side of the building and you'll see the door and signs!
September 27 · AslatielVery friendly staff when I came in today. The Spanish bread wasn't available yet but I decided to get a torta instead (in addition to a half dozen pandesal). While finishing the transaction, I had a pleasant conversation about Cebu and Iloilo and how happy I was to see this place nearby. With the food, it will be like my girlfriend is with me.
