This isn’t just another coffee shop; it’s a destination where the rich flavors of the Philippines are brought to life through expertly crafted cakes, breads, and desserts. Whether you're a long-time fan of Filipino cuisine or are simply curious to try something new, Kape't Torta offers a friendly and welcoming environment where you can explore a world of unique and satisfying treats.
The name itself, "Kape't Torta," which translates to "Coffee and Cake," perfectly encapsulates the core offerings of this charming establishment. It’s a place designed for both a quick stop and a leisurely sit-down, with a cozy atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy the moment. The bakery has earned a dedicated following for its standout items, most notably the ube and mango cakes, which are celebrated for their incredible moisture and balanced flavors. These are just two examples of the kind of quality and passion that go into every item on the menu.
While the cakes may be the star of the show for many, Kape't Torta also excels at savory and less sugary options. Their pandesal, a traditional Filipino bread roll, is described by fans as "pillow soft" and a must-try for anyone who appreciates a good carb. This bakery isn't just about satisfying a sweet tooth; it's about providing a comprehensive taste of Filipino baking that covers a wide range of flavors and textures. The attention to detail in everything they create, from the softest pandesal to the most decadent cake, is what truly sets them apart in the competitive New York food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- We came here with such high expectations, looking to try several items but were told most were unavailable, like the iced drink offerings. Several people, including ourselves were looking to get slices of cakes, like flan, but these were sold out and it was only 12pm. The only option was to buy a full cake. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t cut a full cake, considering a few asked for the slides. Nevertheless, we tried the Halo Halo, which was okay, not the best. The atmosphere was nice and cozy with a few tables and chair, but we were bummed out that we couldn’t really enjoy the full experience due to the lack of items available. Overall, considering the extensive travel we made to visit, it was just not worth it. But, if you’re in the neighborhood, I suggest you try. July 20 · Kayrose
- What's Tagalog for "yes"?*Looks up on Google Translate*Oo. Amazing. Oo.Well, Kape't Torta is all the oos. It's eternal oos. It's a gauntlet of Infinity Oos worn by Phanos, the Filipino Thanos. If you've never been here, come here yesterday. Buy everything. Taste better gluten than any snooty French baker could ever comprehend. The regular Ube Cake is an exercise in moist, purple deliciousness. Ube itself doesn't really have a flavor--it's mainly used for its great color--but you won't notice because it's got a great, mildly sweet flavor that suits every palate. The Mango Cake, on the other hand, is a similarly made flavor bomb of tropical vitamin A that will make you realize you've never had good mango cake until now.And for something less sugary, try the pillow soft pandesal--proof that God exists and wants us to eat carbs.I'd truly come back here every day if I lived anywhere remotely nearby. - So in-love with their ube cake! Must if you really want to get a good ube cake!Location: It is located along Queens Boulevard. The store was typical bakery, few seatings inside. Good display of breads, cakes and items from the Philippines.Service: not much interaction cause I just bought cake and go.Food: UBE CAKE: omg it is so good! The cake itself is moist even few days after I purchase! The frosting is like cream type, its a bit a lot but it taste good because it taste ube as well. Unlike other ube cakes that the cream does not taste ube! I almost eat half of the cake because it is so good!Price rating: 7/10, $45 for a round cake. Thats the usual price now for more stores!Definitely will come back here I will try their other flavors! But get the ube cake!! August 24 · Mark Nowell
- When ever I’m by Grand Avenue and Queens Blvd, my favorite quiet place to relax and enjoy one of their delicious tasty cakes is Kape’t Torta. Their Ube cake so tasty along with their coffee, nothing more than that to relax in their well pleasant, decorated bakery, super friendly staff excellent customer service. Highly recommended. - My goodness this place smells heavenly! We finally decided to drive to Queens to check them out. First impression was good, they were strictly observing social distancing and allowed only 2 customers at a time.I called earlier during the day to place my order of Ube Cheese Pandesal (the reason why we went to Queens in the first place) and when we were picking it up, we loved that they were just packing it in a box because they gave us the freshly baked ones! The staff was really amazing. Such warm friendly Cebuanos and mga Bisaya. Jerome who assisted my order was also so nice. Thanks again guys! And since we were already there, we thought of getting other stuff worth trying. We got the Pork Asado bun and also the famous Ube Custard cake (or Ube with Leche Flan). Happy they cut us 2 slices from the whole cake, really appreciated it!When we got home and for the next few days, here's our verdict: The Ube Cheese was delicious. Probably in my Top 3 in NYC. Not as much Ube Halaya inside as others but so delicious nonetheless! The Pork Asado bun was sooo good! Took me back to my younger days in Manila when I would enjoy a delicious Asado Siopao! My husband loved this too! And for the finale, the Ube Custard Cake was amazing! If you can only get one thing from this place (which trust me would be impossible!), you can never go wrong with this cake!Cannot wait to be back! Thanks Jerome and Team! 😊 July 14 · Joanne Uy (JT)
