In the vibrant and bustling neighborhood of New York's Chinatown, a true culinary experience often comes without pretense. King Bakery, located on East Broadway, is a shining example of this very ethos. This establishment is a beloved spot for those in the know, offering authentic and incredibly delicious Chinese baked goods. While its exterior may not be the most glamorous, as one reviewer aptly noted, the moment you bite into one of their creations, all distractions fade away. It's a place where the food, and only the food, is the star of the show. The bakery is particularly famous for its meat buns, which have been described as "amazing." The focus here is on tradition, flavor, and value, making it a cornerstone of the local community. It provides an authentic taste of Chinese bakery culture, a stark contrast to the slick, modern bakeries found in other parts of the city. The simple plastic chairs and straightforward counter service are part of its charm, creating a welcoming and no-frills environment where the sole purpose is to enjoy a great meal. King Bakery is a testament to the idea that in New York, the best food often comes from the most unassuming places. It is a true local gem, a spot that has earned its reputation not through fancy decor but through consistently delivering delicious, affordable, and authentic baked goods that keep people coming back for more. It's a must-visit for any New Yorker looking to experience the true flavors and spirit of Chinatown.

May 24 · Jiarui HanMeat buns are amazing. The place is uum like not great to look at but just sit on a plastic chair and bite into a bun and all will be well.
February 02 · Joris PeelsAggressive and deceitful.Attempted to buy sugarcane. The man refused to let me and my wife choose which ones and proceeded to cut the canes while arguing. Claimed we needed to pay for them. Woman coworker came out to support him. I told him we did not want them. The woman said she would call the cops. I have never had a worker at a store choose an item for me to buy and threaten to call the cops because I did not want to buy it. Attempted to walk away and the woman physically tried to block me on the sidewalk. I should have called the cops after leaving. Avoided her while leading my wife around her.
January 02 · Ash ChristopherHole in the wall but the steamed meaty buns are amazing, and it's $1.25 for a giant one or $5 for 12 frozen ones. Be careful, they don't speak Cantonese and sometimes not Mandarin. If you want the meaty buns, they're usually to the right. Just point. Otherwise, they'll try to give you the not-as-good veggie ones.
