Kroger Clackamas Bakery Introduce
When local Oregonians pick up a loaf of fresh bread, a box of donuts, or a custom cake from their neighborhood Fred Meyer store, there is a good chance that product originated right here in Clackamas County. The **Kroger Clackamas Bakery**, located at **16253 SE 122nd Ave** in Clackamas, OR, is not a typical retail shop; it is a significant manufacturing and **Wholesale bakery** facility that acts as a vital supply hub for the entire Pacific Northwest region.
Established in 1977, this large-scale industrial bakery is owned and operated by The Kroger Co., one of the nation's largest supermarket companies. The Clackamas Bakery's primary mission is to produce and distribute a vast, high-volume array of baked goods. It currently supplies all 133 Fred Meyer stores across four states—Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska—ensuring that fresh, consistent quality is available to consumers across the region.
The facility is highly mechanized, featuring multiple production lines dedicated to specific product categories, including Bread, Buns, Cakes, English Muffins, and Bagels. This operation highlights a massive effort in local food manufacturing, serving as a critical infrastructure component for grocery stores throughout the area. While the nature of a wholesale bakery means the day-to-day operations are focused on logistics and large-scale output rather than direct retail service, its presence in Clackamas guarantees a steady supply of baked staples for local shoppers.
It is important for local users to understand that this facility’s core function is business-to-business (B2B) supply. Any interactions, as noted in public reviews, often pertain to the complex logistics of trucking and distribution, which are separate from a standard customer retail experience.
The Kroger Clackamas Bakery is strategically situated at **16253 SE 122nd Ave, Clackamas, OR 97015, USA**. Located approximately 15 miles south of Portland, this address places it within a key industrial and commercial hub, ideal for its extensive distribution network.
As a major industrial facility, accessibility focuses primarily on logistics and employee needs:
Truck and Dock Access: Given its wholesale nature, the facility is optimized for the movement and transfer of large goods, though access to this area for non-commercial vehicles is highly restricted.
Physical Accessibility: As required for modern facilities, the location provides a **Wheelchair accessible entrance** and **Wheelchair accessible parking lot**.
Operational Hours: Based on public data, the facility operates during extensive hours, with noted business hours often running from 8:00am to 4:30pm on weekdays for certain operations, reflecting its dedicated work in manufacturing and supply chain logistics.
The Kroger Clackamas Bakery, through its large-scale manufacturing capacity, produces a comprehensive selection of baked goods that are then distributed to retail shelves across the Northwest. The production lines at this Clackamas location are responsible for creating:
A Wide Variety of Breads: This includes staples like **Sandwich Bread**, various **Dinner Bread & Rolls**, and artisan offerings such as **French & Italian Breads** and **Baguettes**.
Sweet Baked Goods: The cake and pastry lines supply an extensive selection, including decorated **Cakes**, **Cupcakes**, **Donuts**, **Danishs**, **Muffins**, **Pies**, **Cheesecakes**, **Brownies**, and **Cookies**.
Breakfast Staples: The dedicated production lines ensure a consistent supply of products like **Bagels** and **English Muffins** for grocery stores.
Custom and Special Orders: In addition to supplying Kroger-owned retail brands, the bakery produces **custom orders for other distributors** in the area.
Service Option: The facility operates on a **Takeout** model, though this primarily refers to large-scale order fulfillment for delivery trucks transporting goods to the various retail locations it serves.
The significance of the Kroger Clackamas Bakery is found in its enormous operational capacity and its role within the regional economy:
Regional Supply Chain Hub: The bakery is a major supplier for 133 Fred Meyer stores throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska, highlighting its critical role in stocking grocery shelves across the entire Pacific Northwest.
Massive Production Scale: The facility is equipped with six distinct production lines: Bread, Bun, Cake, English Muffin, Bagel, and even Coffee Roasting, showcasing its extensive and specialized manufacturing capabilities.
Major Local Employer: The Clackamas Bakery employs approximately 160 people, contributing substantially to the local job market in Clackamas County and supporting numerous families.
Consistent Product Availability: As a dedicated manufacturing plant, it ensures a constant, high-volume flow of baked products, which stabilizes the availability of these food staples for local consumers.
Long-Standing Presence: Having been built in 1977, the facility represents a decades-long commitment by Kroger to manufacturing and distribution within the Oregon region.
As a large-scale manufacturing and wholesale facility, direct consumer contact is generally handled by the retail stores it supplies. However, for logistical, business, or general inquiries related to the facility itself, the following information is available:

For the typical Oregon consumer, "choosing" the Kroger Clackamas Bakery means recognizing the source of the fresh baked goods found in their local grocery stores, primarily Fred Meyer. While it is not a place to walk in and buy a single cookie, its operations are vital to the convenience and selection available to the public.
What makes this facility worth recognizing is its **reliability and scale**. It is a consistent, high-volume producer of essential baked staples. When you choose a Fred Meyer cake or a bag of their "Bakery Fresh" rolls, you are indirectly choosing a product manufactured locally in Clackamas County. This consistent supply chain ensures that prices remain stable and that products are readily available, which is a significant factor in daily grocery shopping.
Furthermore, by supporting the retail outlets supplied by this wholesale operation, you are indirectly supporting the **160 local jobs** created and maintained by the Kroger Clackamas Bakery. This facility is a crucial piece of the regional economic and food infrastructure. While the publicly available reviews highlight the difficulties often associated with a high-volume, 24/7 industrial logistics environment—concerns that pertain to delivery personnel and not the end consumer experience—the ultimate value for local users is the guaranteed access to a vast and consistent selection of fresh, wholesale-quality baked goods on their neighborhood grocery store shelves. In short, the choice is not the bakery's door, but the high-quality, local products it stocks in our homes.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1People who work here are honestly not very good at they job half the people don't know what they are doing the other half is acting like they the boss of everything we waited 3+ hours to get unloaded our appointment is at 9pm we try to show up earlier they say they don't accept early so we left and came back a 2 hours later then they take more than 3 hours to attend us we unload ourselves and still charge a big lumper fee for what? Their workers didn't do anything just horrible so they don't accept when you go early but take all the time they want to unload honestly I would be glad if we didn't have to deliver to this place again
January 07 · Jenny RiveraJust like all other Kroger locations this place sucks to deliver too. Given doors 37-39. All full and had to wait 2+ hrs for one to open. There yard dogs seem like they don't give a shit and will run you over if given the chance. Very unorganized and dangerous place. I pray I never have to come back. It's places like this that make me question why I got a CDL.
December 09 · LEROY JENKINSArrival must be timed perfectly...No more than 30 min before appointment or you will be sent away . No street parking busy roadsNo sleeping , because they don't call ,,,you have to watch for a green light .2hrs not bad ...big place easy doors .Lumpers are insanely high here.
August 26 · Scott DunhamDear Kroger Clackamas Bakery,As someone who values hard work and fair treatment, I have to say that my experience with the Kroger Clackamas Bakery was disappointing. I witnessed workers being mistreated and overworked, and I heard firsthand the complaints of customers who were frustrated with the payment system and lack of check acceptance. The bakery seemed to be operating like a slave mill, with little concern for the well-being of its employees or customers. The lack of payment options and the reliance on a mobile app or website seemed to be a source of frustration for many people.Overall, I would not recommend this establishment. The mistreatment of workers and disregard for customer convenience is not acceptable in my book.Sincerely,Jaeden Childers
March 18 · Jaeden ChildersIt’s really horrible place, don’t accept any check, what you should do in middle of night. They send you a message and you should do payment for lumper just with app or website.
