La Bagel in Edison presents several features and highlights that define its unique appeal and customer experience within the New Jersey bagel scene.
- Exceptional Bagel Texture and Flavor: Many customers rave about the bagels themselves, noting they have "so much flavor" even without cream cheese, and possess a desirable texture that is "kinda crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside." This distinct chewiness is often highlighted as a key differentiator.
- Wide Variety of Bagels and Spreads: The extensive range of bagel flavors, from classic to more inventive options, paired with a broad selection of cream cheeses (including excellent choices like the scallion cream cheese), allows for significant customization and caters to diverse tastes.
- Speedy Service (Often): Despite often having "all the other customers," service can be "very quick," indicating an efficient operation during busy periods, which is crucial for a popular breakfast spot.
- Comprehensive Menu: Beyond bagels, the full deli menu with breakfast sandwiches, hot and cold lunch sandwiches, platters, salads, and other baked goods makes it a versatile establishment for all-day dining.
- High-Quality Base Product: The sentiment that "the more I chewed the better the bagel tasted" suggests a fundamental quality in the bagel dough itself, a hallmark of a good bagel.
- Potential for Improvement in Customer Service and Cleanliness: While some customers highlight positive experiences with speed, other recent reviews indicate significant concerns regarding employee behavior ("rude behavior," "appalling" response to inquiries) and cleanliness ("witnessing bagels getting kicked around"). These are areas noted by customers that detract from the overall experience.
- Order Accuracy Issues: Some reviews suggest issues with order accuracy, including missing items or incorrect sandwiches, and unhelpful responses when trying to resolve these problems.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can't believe l've deprived myself of the joy of eating these bagels all these years. At first I thought they didn't look that appetizing but DON'T LET APPEARANCES FOOL YOU. The bagel itself has so much flavor — if I didn’t have any cream cheese I would still enjoy it! And it's kinda crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. The more I chewed the better the bagel tasted. Also the scallion cream was excellent too. Service was very quick too despite all the other customers. Definitely going to visit again!
February 15 · Sophie GaoBeware: If you are ok with a food establishment that kicks bagels around as if they were in a soccer tournament.I have gone in weekly to get bagels for my office and continue to witness rude behavior from employees taking orders. But just recently I have noticed that they lack cleanliness. Walked in on Friday to pick up bagels and witnessing bagels getting kicked around was absolutely appalling. When I asked staff about this, her response was even more appalling. She simply said that it was not my problem and that I should mind my business. I grabbed my bagels and disposed of them when I got into the office.Decided to give them a another try and once again it was a bad experience. Ordered 6 sandwiches, when asked her to repeat order, she rudely responded that she got my order and refused to repeat it. Order was picked up and sure enough, sandwiches were missing items or made incorrectly and we were 1 sandwich short. Called in and person who answered phone was not apologetic at all, just said she would give me the items that were missing from sandwiches and that I can put them on to sandwiches myself, when asked about incorrect sandwiches she again said ok and moved on. As for the missing sandwich she told me I would need to reorder it and pay for it.....again!
February 26 · LouieLa Bagel – A Local Gem with Great Food and Even Better PeopleI’ve been going to La Bagel since I was a kid, and it’s always been a special place for me and my family. From the very beginning, the staff has treated us like more than just customers—they’ve always been kind, welcoming, and made sure we were taken care of. It’s the kind of place where they know their regulars and treat everyone with the same warmth and respect.Beyond the great service, the food is just as good. The bagels are always fresh, the sandwiches are made right, and the prices are fair. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick breakfast or grabbing something to go, you know you’re getting quality.La Bagel isn’t just a bagel shop—it’s a staple in the community. They do what they gotta do, and they do it well. If you’re looking for good food and good people, this is the spot.

April 08 · Zeshan AI just been to this place and it's my first time. The lady at the counter is not even ready to talk to me and when placing the order, she is not listening to me properly and kept a growling face but she is fine with others. I didn't create any fuss and placed my order. When I'm ready to pay, all I asked is 'is salt and pepper added on my bagel'..she didn't answer at all and when I asked her again she yelled at me saying,' you already told that for your bagel'. Not sure if these people show any racism as that lady is talking nice to others. I dont understand why people treat others like this and if they're not interested to provide good service, why would they have a restaurant...All I wanted is nice bagel for a good morning and this lady spoiled my day already.
