La Bake Shop Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For over three decades, the name L.A. Bake Shop has been synonymous with exceptional quality and classic baking in the Pasadena area of California. Established in 1984 by the Smith Brothers Restaurant Corporation, this local institution was initially created to ensure their restaurants could serve the absolute finest desserts and breads. Today, it stands as a specialized production kitchen, creating signature baked goods not only for the acclaimed Smith Brothers establishments but also for a discerning clientele of cafes, bakeries, and restaurants across the region.
Unlike a traditional storefront bakery, L.A. Bake Shop operates with a unique focus: crafting high-end, classic items in small batches with an unwavering commitment to quality. The philosophy is simple—use real butter, the finest fruits and nuts, and avoid all artificial ingredients. This dedication to fresh, superior components results in desserts and breads that are both sophisticated and deeply flavorful, delivering a sense of authentic, scratch-made goodness that California customers appreciate.
While the logistical structure of the business may require a note of caution for walk-in visitors—as its operational base is physically situated within a restaurant property—the quality of its Desserts, Pastries, and Breads speaks for itself. Customers who successfully order from L.A. Bake Shop are rewarded with items born from decades of culinary excellence, including legendary creations that have graced the menus of some of Pasadena’s most celebrated dining rooms. This bakery is an ideal source for event planners, local businesses, and individual customers seeking exquisite, custom-made confections.
Location and Accessibility
The location of L.A. Bake Shop is unconventional, which is crucial for local customers to understand to ensure a seamless experience. The bakery functions primarily as a production facility and is co-located with one of its main clients, a well-known local restaurant.
The bakery’s base of operations is listed at: 536 S. Arroyo Pkwy. Pasadena, CA 91101, USA.
Public information confirms that the location for L.A. Bake Shop was moved to the Arroyo Chop House and continues to prepare products there. This unique arrangement means the physical address may display the restaurant’s name and hours, leading to the customer confusion noted in a public review. It is strongly recommended that customers call ahead before attempting a walk-in visit to ensure the bakery staff are available for individual sales or order pickups, or if the best path is to pre-order.
Despite the complexity of the location, the facility is equipped to be accommodating:
- The site offers a Wheelchair accessible entrance.
- There is a Wheelchair accessible parking lot to facilitate easy access for all customers picking up orders.
- The nature of the service—mainly pre-ordered pickups—is designed to be a Quick visit once the logistics are coordinated with the staff.
Services Offered
L.A. Bake Shop's services are tailored to both the commercial kitchen needs of the Smith Brothers Restaurants and the custom requirements of individual and corporate clients in the California area.

- Wholesale and Distribution: The bakery's core business involves preparing and delivering baked goods to a selection of the "finest and most discerning cafes, bakeries and restaurants in the Pasadena area," ensuring high standards across all products.
- Baked Goods and Pastry Orders: Orders can be placed for their wide range of classic pastries and breads (though direct walk-in availability is limited and should be confirmed by phone).
- Advance Ordering: Due to the production-kitchen nature of the business and its location within a restaurant, customers should use the provided phone number to place and coordinate all individual or large-scale orders well in advance.

La Bake Shop Reviews
Bakery claimed it was open online, gps took us to a restaurant that didn't have the name La Bake shop.. apparently the bakery is inside the restaurant but the restaurant wasn't open. Very confusing and disappointing because we were excited to get some pastries and went out of the way to go here. Bad rating is not due to quality of food but is due to a lack of it.
