What is Worth Choosing
For Illinois residents, especially those in the Chicago area, La France Bakery is worth choosing for several key reasons that extend beyond the simple allure of fresh-baked goods. It is a business that successfully balances specialty offerings with essential community accessibility.
The primary reason to choose La France is its dedicated focus on high-quality, unique cakes and desserts for celebrations. While specific menu details may vary, the bakery’s commitment to being a reliable source of sweetness for important family events is clear. Customers return to the bakery because they have trust in the overall quality and the bakery's earnest desire to get every order right.
Crucially, the bakery's approach to customer service, particularly when problems arise, stands out. Acknowledging that "accidents happen" in the complex process of custom baking—especially with environmental factors like weather or humidity affecting delicate decorations—the response is paramount. The factual account of a prompt, no-hassle refund, coupled with polite and concerned staff, demonstrates strong professionalism and accountability. This means that while a custom cake may occasionally miss the mark, patrons can be confident that the business will treat them fairly and respectfully, which is an invaluable quality in a local service provider.
Finally, the acceptance of SNAP/EBT alongside modern mobile payments is a defining feature. This choice clearly signals that La France Bakery is not merely a commercial entity but a committed community resource dedicated to ensuring that its baked goods are financially accessible to all neighbors. Choosing La France Bakery means supporting a local business that prioritizes not only the taste of its specialty cakes and pastries but also the convenience and respect of its entire clientele, making it a reliable and responsible choice on the Southwest Side of Chicago.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1$47 for this cake , completely wrong. The design is different from the one I picked plus the color is wrong . The border is loose looks lazily made in a hurry. I ordered and paid for this cake a week in advance and this is what I picked up.
May 19 · Gigi SFirst of all accidents happen.I was refunded my money without a problem and the girl was nice and showed concern about the situation. The reason for this is unclear to me but it's possible this happened due to hot weather or humidity.I've visted this place before so it's not my first time I stop by here. This was however the first time this occurs. It's not like they did this intentionally but is still unacceptable especially when children eat stuff like this. When you stop by this place (or any bakery), pay close attention for details such as these.
July 05 · JayI ordered this $100 cake on Thursday and at first it was meant to say "Feliz cumpleaños Jesus". Nothing wrong with that but I asked to change it the next day Friday to "Happy Birthday Pa". Told me it was not a problem and that it will be good to go on Sunday. This is what I got.
August 30 · EdwinMe and my family are loyal customers for years but now they are changing they make less small tres leches cakes and than the worker put them away for the other persons it's suppose to be come as serve and not separating the cakes for other people. They should make at least two or three extra small cakes cause their good and when there no especial occasion I can't take the bigger one cause it's going to the garbage that's why I like getting the small one and also to take to my sister in law. Ultimately this year this bakery it's loosing interest on clients also they used to put big images on the especial occasion cakes now it's a small photo for big cake and for paying extra fo picture it's not worth it this bakery its loosing clientele if they keep up they going to go broke . Unfortunately they do make good cakes but once you loose focus on the clientele and quality it's just takes the business lower looking to find a similar bakery if any of the persons from here know of other good bakery let me know
September 21 · Cesar ChavezGot free sample on 18th Street. Bread was good and carmelized goodies on top was good flavors...not too sweet. Reading old reviews hope their customer service got better as sweets are well made.
