Leslie's Pastries Introduce
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Holladay community, Leslie's Pastries stands as a beloved culinary landmark and a testament to enduring local business success in Utah. Operating for over fifty years, this bakery is not merely a place to buy baked goods; it is an institution, a repository of tradition, and a sweet necessity for generations of Salt Lake Valley residents. Originally founded by Alex and Betty Leslie, Scottish immigrants who carried their baking heritage to Utah, the bakery, formerly known as Leslie's French Pastries, has seamlessly transitioned through ownership changes while maintaining its unwavering commitment to scratch-made quality and classic recipes. This long, proud history means that for many locals, a Danish ring at Christmas or a signature Chocolate Rum Cake for a birthday is not just a treat, but a cherished family tradition.
The unique draw of Leslie's Pastries for the Utah consumer is its focus on high-quality, authentic baked goods, particularly its famous French and European-style pastries, alongside traditional American and specialty breads. Customers consistently praise the delightful appearance and taste of the offerings, noting the sheer variety of cookies, cakes, éclairs, and macrons available. In a state that highly values community and supporting local entrepreneurs, Leslie’s Pastries has proven its mettle, becoming a go-to spot for everything from a simple morning coffee to custom-designed cakes for the most significant life events. This dual nature—offering quick daily treats and elaborate custom orders—makes it an indispensable part of the Holladay Village culinary scene.
A critical feature that sets this bakery apart, and one that is deeply appreciated by the local user base, is its dedication to making everything from scratch. This focus on pure ingredients, famously including real butter over hydrogenated oils, results in a flavor and quality that is distinctly superior. The transition to the current owners, Luis and Stephanie Herrera, in 2023 was done with a clear mission to continue this well-established pastries tradition, ensuring that Utah locals can continue to rely on Leslie's for their favorite items. When searching for a bakery experience that combines deep history, authentic quality, and a truly inviting atmosphere right here in the Salt Lake area, Leslie's Pastries is a celebrated choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We found a cute little pastry shop right in the middle of downtown Holladay today! Apparently they have been in business for 50 years. Who knew? Display and decor is cute. The pastries, cakes, cookies and all of the baked goodies looked delightful. I asked the shop girl if I could just have one of everything! We bought a variety of items and they are all delicious. Not to die for delicious, but good. Shop is clean and inviting. Closed on Sunday and Monday.
January 28 · Lorri DanaWow, this place is a little gem! The strawberry jam macrons, the chocolate palmiers, and the eclairs are a can't miss. The girl helping me was also super sweet and answered all my questions. They have discounted sweets by the door from the day before.
December 04 · Blair BauerDecent amount of options - the German Brownie had a little to many nuts for my palate but the sweet cream on top was nice and soft. They brownies themselves were overall a good chew!We also had the cream filled eclairs, the chocolate frosting/cream above tasted like those gas station chocolate donuts - however the cream on the inside was smooth and filling (no pun intended)
February 08 · Nabeel OzmanAll things good here. Everything from breads to sweets with plenty to choose from. The white cake with sprinkles is my favorite but you have to try the strudels that you can’t just eat one of. Friendly staff! Let’s get out and support this business.
May 23 · Kentrell CharlesI was so sad when I learned Glaus bakery in Sugarhouse closed few years ago, taking their chocolate rum pineapple cake with them. I recently discovered Leslie's and was excited to see they also offer chocolate rum pineapple cake, so decided to give them a try.First, the girls at the counter were very friendly and helpful. The pastry was pretty good, though there was something about it that felt not fully satisfying to me. I haven't been able to pinpoint it: It seemed a bit dry? I'm not sure if that was the cake itself needed to be more dense, or if it needed more filling. Or it may have been the chocolate sprinkles. The buttercream frosting was lovely.I also can't pass up a mint brownie, and found Leslie's to be very good. The mint frosting was creamy and not overly minty, and the chocolate ganache layer was a nice finish.I'll probably come back for another sometime and (and to try something new).
