What is Worth Choosing
For a first-time visitor or a long-time local looking for a definitive Macrina experience, the depth and variety of the menu offer several compelling choices. When considering what is truly worth choosing, the focus should be on the items that best showcase Macrina's fundamental strength as a baker and café.
For a Savory Breakfast, the undisputed choice is the Brioche Egg Sandwich or the Ham & Cheese Brioche. These are frequently rated as top favorites by customers, leveraging Macrina's own velvety, slightly sweet brioche bread. The Brioche Egg Sandwich, in particular, combines savory ham, Flagship cheese, and a fried egg with a sweet Dijon apple butter spread, creating a harmonious and hearty start to the day. For a more robust meal, consider the Quiche Slice, with both Carne (meat) and Verdura (vegetable) options, demonstrating their mastery of flaky crusts and rich fillings.
On the Sweet Side, an essential selection is any of their brioche-based pastries, such as the Cinnamon Swirl Brioche or the beloved Pecan Sticky Bun. The sticky bun, featuring toasted pecans and rich brown sugar caramel atop their pillowy brioche dough, is a notoriously decadent treat. Alternatively, the Morning Roll, a simple swirl of yeasted croissant dough, is a perfectly flaky classic.
Finally, to experience the foundation of their business, take home an artisan loaf of bread. The Greek Olive Loaf or the Sliced Ancient Grains Loaf are excellent representations of their commitment to unique, flavorful, high-quality baking and local grain sourcing, making Macrina Bakery & Cafe a true Washington institution worth visiting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Nice atmosphere - modern, clean and open. The place is pretty large but it's also pretty popular, so it might be a crowded, but there's also outdoor seating. I had chocolate banana bread (not sure if I remember right) and it's tasty and filing my and the cappuccino nice too. It's a great place for having nice bakery stuff and coffee with a warm atmosphere!
September 03 · Andre LeeI really wish I could give this Bakery Cafe a higher rating b/c I love going to/supporting neighborhood spots. The food here is excellent. I feel like they use quality ingredients and great recipes. Customer service is also typically very friendly. Where they lose points with me is cleanliness (the lack thereof). I understand that Saturdays are a busy day but having folks take the time to tidy should also be a priority. The floor, tables and seats in the front nook area where I was sitting were all dirty. And the ground in food/dirt on the floor looked like it came from way more than just one day of not being swept and mopped. I really hope on my next visit that I find things a little cleaner to improve the overall customer experience.
May 04 · Imani OBAmazing!!!! Almond milk Cortana and Carne Quiche were perfect! My wife got the Sticky Bun and a Mexican Chocolate Mocha. Great atmosphere and vibe, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Will be returning often.
April 30 · Kyle McMillanAbsolutely delicious food. Despite coming mid-day, everything still felt super fresh. Very friendly staff too. And they have sparkling water on tap!
July 12 · JoshA large assortment of pastries and desserts and delicious coffee paired with the light and airy atmosphere makes for a great experience. Would definitely come back to try some of their lunch offerings but it’s a great place to grab a bite!
