Maplewood Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
The Maplewood Bakery, nestled conveniently on Frost Avenue in St. Paul, is celebrated by locals as one of the few truly authentic, "old-world" bakeries remaining in the Twin Cities metro area. It is a long-standing, beloved institution that has earned a loyal following over decades, thanks to its commitment to quality, traditional recipes, and fantastic value. This is not a trendy, minimalist spot, but a genuine, hardworking establishment where the focus is firmly on the freshness and flavor of the baked goods themselves.
Customers frequently praise the bakery for its dense, flavorful products and the nostalgic feeling of walking into a classic, community-focused shop. June 13 · Jill LThis is one of the “real” bakeries left, no fake chocolate frosting here!!! I’ve been going to this bakery for over 20 years I bet… it’s just up the street to the left … ( okay, if you’re driving east on Highway 36, take a right on Frost Ave, drive down until you reach English street, then drive around the Roundabout -exiting on English St…it’s Just a couple shops up on the left side of the street, you’ll see a tall sign that says Bakery and Liquor Store (they’re two different entities but located next to each other. The REASON I’ve gone to that bakery for so many years is because of their “Carmel Pecan Pastry or roll (whatever you want to call it.Of course when I went there today around 1:30 ish… They were ALREADY SOLD OUT…it’s better to show up early, but I suppose it varies everyday, no guarantees …🤗 or 😱! Another thing thing that calls me back there is the Birthday cakes they sell! The small individual size. They look like a mini birthday cake about 3“x 3” AND NOT JUST FROSTING ON THE TOP…BUT ALL 4 SIDES!!! I like to keep one around in my freezer, so when I in a mood for something sweet, I take the cake out of the freezer and put on top, one very huge scoop of vanilla ice cream (preferably Häagen-Dazs Vanilla or VANILLA BEAN!) Good good stuff if you get in the mood, it’s there at your fingertips, I had one in my freezer for a month now but I feel a SWEET TOOTH ALL coming on!!!
September 28 · Gloria JohnsonThis bakery is amazing! The prices are unbeatable and the donuts and donut holes are some of the best I’ve ever had. The only 2 things that are a bummer are that the hours are so short (would love some Sunday hours!) and that the apple fitters(my personal favorite type of pastry) have a slight chemically after taste and there’s barely any apple in them. I’ve tried them multiple times and each time they just don’t hit for me. BUT, every place has a thing that doesn’t work for someone and I will definitely be going back to get more donut holes and try other types of donuts and breads as well. The dough can’t be beat!
March 27 · Nicole NicoleWe came near the closing time, so there weren't many things left. I grabbed a raspberry filled chocolate cake. It is absolutely delicious. The raspberry spread inside tastes like fresh raspberries. The frosting isn't too rich and overpowering. All around, I am very happy with my purchase, and I will be returning to try more things.
March 14 · Margarita MartinezMy friend recommended me to go there for cinnamon raisin bread....I was not impressed and It was over priced 😞Cub used to have a fantastic, what I would describe it as a 3# roast, It was so huge....Nicely priced 😉
