Marchiano's Bakery, LLC Introduce
For decades, **Marchiano's Bakery, LLC** has stood as a true pillar of the Philadelphia culinary scene, specifically in the Manayunk/Roxborough area. It is far more than just a bakery; it is a living legacy of Italian-American tradition, flavor, and community spirit. This family-run small business, which proudly identifies as women-owned in its latest generation, is renowned across Pennsylvania for mastering two iconic Italian-American staples: their legendary **Tomato Pie** and an extensive, beloved selection of savory **Specialty Stuffed Breads**.
The story of Marchiano's began in the small home kitchen of Nunziata Marchiano, whose genuine, time-tested Southern Italian recipes quickly became an irresistible local draw. Today, the bakery continues to operate on the foundation of those ancestral recipes and rituals. Everything is prepared with a deep commitment to quality—the dough for both the famous pies and specialty breads is mixed and rolled fresh daily, preserving the authentic, wholesome taste that defines the Marchiano name. The air that fills the shop isn't merely the smell of baking bread; it's the comforting fragrance of family pride and four generations of culinary dedication.
Marchiano's Tomato Pie is frequently hailed as the best in Philadelphia, a distinction that speaks volumes in a city where tomato pie is a genuine cultural institution. This thick, Sicilian-style square pie features a focaccia-like, spongy crust, generously covered with a rich, vibrant tomato sauce, crisped to perfection, and dusted lightly with Parmesan cheese. Local wisdom, passed down from Mama Nunziata, suggests it is best enjoyed at room temperature, which allows the full flavor and texture of the tomatoes to shine through.
Equally celebrated are the Specialty Stuffed Breads. These hearty, meal-sized loaves of Italian bread are carefully filled with a blend of cheeses and savory ingredients, offering a perfect solution for a quick dinner, a hearty breakfast, or a must-have appetizer for any Pennsylvania gathering, from Super Bowl Sunday to holiday parties. The consistent quality and deep-rooted tradition ensure that for many local families, a visit to Marchiano's is simply a homecoming ritual.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It really doesn’t get much better than Marchiano’s. I’d leave 10 stars if I could. This is one of my favorite places to get that classic, Philadelphia tomato pie. My family has been coming here for years and Marchianos produces their products with the same quality they did when we started coming. They sell tomato pie in two sizes. I’ve been going for years and have no plans on stopping. Highly recommend.
August 12 · Patrick McCauleyA Roxborough/Manayunk institution. Great for a breakfast bread, or a quick lunch or dinner, but a must when my kids come home to visit "Can we get some Marchiano's?"Stuffed breads with our favorites being the pepper, egg and cheese, and the steak or chicken steak - with sauce and onions. But sometimes switch it up with one of the many other combos they offer. Just great flavors, never been disappointed.
July 13 · Road AbodeI had to try this place in my daughter's neighborhood. Everything was very good BUT tomato pie was like a big sheet of bread with sauce on it and Parmigiano on it. Was good but. Ok I am used to Frank Pepe tomato pie. If you've ever had it you would know what I mean. The other things I got, the bread, the broccoli, the cheesesteak, and the pepperoni, were all great. I only spent 56.00 I think so that's a deal. I took most of it home but husband had no interest in tomato pie.
May 31 · Janet FranklinMy dad used to know the owners, they were friends in the 80s, and every February we get the Pepperoni Bread and Tomato Pie for the superbowl!😀
September 13 · Aurelia (Sky-Laz)If it’s good enough for Frank Sinatra, it’s good enough for me!A staple of the area, here you will find Philly’s most iconic tomato pie! Fresh and delicious, with reliably consistent sweet garlic tomato sauce that will transport you to nirvana every time you have a bite of this mouth watering goodness. Prepare to be satisfied!Service is welcoming and friendly, and I haven’t been disappointed to date. Whether you are coming from out of town or another part of the city, you’ll be glad you did!Be mindful the tomato pies come in half or whole - no buy by the slice here (but honestly how could you buy just one slice?!), and be aware CASH ONLY!
