Midsommar Bakery - Market Stall Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents across the Puget Sound, finding truly authentic, high-quality artisanal goods often means seeking out local small businesses that specialize in a craft. **Midsommar Bakery - Market Stall** is exactly this kind of hidden gem, bringing a taste of Scandinavian tradition right to the heart of Tacoma, Washington. This small business is not a traditional brick-and-mortar storefront but rather a cherished, dedicated stall operating primarily at the vibrant Proctor Farmers Market.
Midsommar Bakery specializes in Swedish baking, celebrating the rich heritage of Swedish pastries, most notably the *bullar*, or Swedish buns. Named after the celebrated Swedish Midsummer festival, the bakery aims to share the warmth, flavor, and tradition of *fika* (the Swedish concept of a coffee break) with the local Tacoma community. Their focus on time-honored recipes, coupled with modern, seasonal flavor twists, has quickly earned them a devoted following among Washingtonians looking for something beyond the typical bakery fare.
The bakery’s unique offering is its commitment to flavor and freshness. Their products, such as the widely praised cardamom buns (*kardemummabullar*), are not just baked goods; they are an experience—soft, moist, and aromatic, often utilizing freshly ground spices to achieve a bright, complex flavor profile. This commitment to quality and genuine Swedish tradition sets Midsommar Bakery apart as a standout local purveyor in the Pacific Northwest’s evolving food scene. For local users, a visit to this market stall is often highlighted as an absolute must on a Saturday morning outing.

What is Worth Choosing
For any Washington resident—especially those in the Tacoma area—a visit to **Midsommar Bakery** is a choice for an authentic, delightful culinary experience that strongly supports local entrepreneurship. The most valuable choice here is to embrace the Swedish tradition of *fika* and indulge in their signature items.
What is truly worth choosing, without question, are the **Cardamom Buns**. These are the bakery's absolute claim to fame. They offer a flavor profile that is distinct from most American pastries—less focused on heavy sugar and more on the bright, floral spice of the cardamom. They are perfect for pairing with a hot cup of coffee on a crisp Northwest morning.
Additionally, for a truly unique and intense flavor experience, the **Ginger Cardamom Balls** are an absolute must-try. Reviewers consistently point to them as a standout item, highlighting that they are "so delicious and packed with flavor," making them an excellent choice for a quick, potent burst of Scandinavian sweetness.
Finally, Midsommar Bakery is worth choosing for any occasion where you need party-quality desserts. Opting for the **Petite Buns** for a baby shower or event provides guests with a memorable, sophisticated array of flavors (like pistachio rose or chocolate hazelnut) that taste fresh, soft, and are far superior to mass-produced baked goods. By choosing Midsommar Bakery, local users are not just buying a pastry; they are investing in the community, supporting a passionate small business, and treating themselves to one of the most exciting and authentic European baking experiences available in the Tacoma region.
