Mike's Pies Inc Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents and businesses across Florida, the name Mike's Pies Inc is synonymous with exceptional, high-quality, and award-winning desserts. Originating in a modest 700-square-foot retail store in Tampa in 1992, this local business has blossomed into one of the country's most respected gourmet bakeries, all while remaining deeply rooted in its Tampa heritage. Mike's Pies is not just a place to buy a dessert; it’s the culmination of three generations of family tradition, with all recipes traced back to Mike Martin’s Grandma Smith and passed down by his mother, Jean.
The bakery’s success is a testament to its unwavering commitment to quality. Mike's Pies proudly operates on the motto: “We cut no corners at Mike's Pies because pies have no corners.” This philosophy translates into using only high-quality ingredients you would find in your own kitchen, explicitly forbidding fillers, preservatives, and artificial additives. This dedication has paid off handsomely, securing Mike's Pies an incredible record of 15 National Championships at the annual Great American Pie Festival, solidifying its place as a dessert powerhouse in Florida and nationwide.
While the company's primary focus is on wholesale distribution to restaurants, grocery stores, and food service partners across the lower 48 states, the Tampa headquarters welcomes local Florida customers for in-store purchases and takeout. This unique setup means that locals can access the very same gourmet, award-winning desserts served in nationally recognized restaurants, including locations at Walt Disney World, right from the source in Tampa. The company produces about 65 different varieties of frozen pies and cakes, ensuring the flavor and consistency remain locked in from their kitchen to your table.

April 07 · Daniel WunderThe key lime pie is definitely a must try. The filling is pretty straight-forward and most definitely a good tart key lime flavor with that rich sweet condensed milk, which really compliments that great Graham cracker crust that is not sweet but does have a perfect crunch. Good stuff, I applaud them. Only thing I wish Google maps did a better job of directions in that area where there are lots of businesses and warehouses. Only down side, Call them if you're heading there when you get to the warehouse area so they can help you out with directions...Google get your stuff together with directions smh. Just made it before they closed for the weekend 👍🏼👍🏼
April 20 · Aga R. RamosIt’s better to just by the pies at the store. Being meaning to visit this place for over 6 months based on the photos. I’m a super fan of the pies. It’s very underwhelming and impersonal from what I thought the place would be. The person at the front immediately tried to sell me pies. That’s not a bad thing but I was really there to kind look at where these famous pies come from and maybe ask a few questions about the history of Mike’s Pie. I was very disappointed because it took me over an hour to get there because the map was wrong(Thanks Google). It just felt so transactional when I got there. I felt like I should did something wrong. My experience was so transactional. Mike’s Pies has another bird in hand and doesn’t even realize the amount of money being left on the table. I’ll continue to eat the pies though.
June 26 · Micah WI must be the only person who didn't know that Mike's Pies is hidden in an office/warehouse space on Windhorst near Falkenburg Road. They've been there for 3 years now. I was still getting their key lime pies at Winn-Dixie up until this past week. For those who are not local, they started their business in Tampa over 30 years ago. The pies can be found nationally at restaurants and grocery stores. They happened to be one of many contestants in a pie contest on GMA recently which prompted me to look up their address. They are closer than I thought. As others have said, it's hidden. Thankfully I read the reviews stating that because it still took me a while to find it. I had also read that you need to call ahead if you want something specific, or during the holiday rush for pies. I went on a whim to see what they had available. They had many frozen pies, and I believe some were being held for pick up orders. She said there was one seasonal guava cheesecake left. At that point, I didn't even really care what other flavors they had. I think they had key lime, pecan, and others. It was guava that screamed the loudest to me. It was a very quick transaction after that. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.I kept it in the car for a while because I had other errands to run. It defrosted enough were I could pull out a slice of it and pop the rest into the freezer (yep, it can be refrozen). These cheesecakes are already pre-sliced which is very convenient. Mind you, these are larger than any of the Mike's Pies sold at grocery stores. There are 12 big slices in this cheesecake. I couldn't wait for my slice to defrost. I went ahead and ate it partially frozen. It was the best cheesecake ever! The guava is not just on top of it. It's mixed inside the cheese cake. It had guava in every bite. It ended up being so creamy towards the end as it continued to defrost. Maybe because I took my sweet time savoring each bite. I so wish this flavor was on their regular local menu. I remember seeing it on the menu at Fat Willie's Fish Camp back in September but they ran out of it. I feel like this cheesecake was meant for me to find. I will get it again whenever it's back on the local menu. This cheesecake will have to last until then.
January 07 · Karen VNot a retail location per se. It is a factory that sells a very limited offering from their office entrance. You can however get any item you want from their selection if you call 2 days ahead. My very first visit and my Apple Crisp pie was amazing. The pie and slices are huge. They ship all over the US and their pies can be frozen. Care and heating instructions provided. It's not easy to find so use GPS. When you arrive, it's the huge building on your left, no sign, entrance is around the front at the end of the parking lot. Masks required. A definite special occasions destination for me in the future. They close early at 4pm.
