Mt. Bagel Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Tucked away in a residential pocket of Seattle, Mt. Bagel has quickly transcended its humble beginnings to become a certified, cult-favorite institution for bagel aficionados across the Washington region. Far from a typical chain or large-scale operation, Mt. Bagel is a passionate baker’s endeavor focused on achieving bagel perfection. The shop has garnered an intense and loyal following for producing what many local food critics and customers consider to be the finest bagels in the entire city, often selling out early and generating lines that speak to its extraordinary reputation.
What sets Mt. Bagel apart is its singular focus on quality and technique. Customers consistently praise the bagels for their ideal texture: a crackly, crisp exterior that gives way to a soft, fluffy, and perfectly chewy interior. This balance is achieved through careful, artisan preparation, likely involving natural fermentation, boiling, and then baking, resulting in a product that often surpasses what’s available elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest. While the menu is intentionally lean—focusing solely on seven classic bagel types and three house-made cream cheese spreads—this minimalist approach allows the team to dedicate all their expertise to flawless execution. The operation is reminiscent of a beloved local gem, providing a charmingly clean and friendly atmosphere, where the aroma of freshly baked goods is the ultimate invitation. Whether you're an East Coast transplant or a native Washingtonian, Mt. Bagel offers a morning experience that elevates the simple bagel to an artisan craft.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Mt. Bagel is a choice for purity, quality, and a commitment to perfecting a single food item. For Washington residents, it represents the definitive answer to the often-asked question: "Where is the best bagel in Seattle?" It’s a destination worth visiting for the product's flawless execution, which elevates the morning meal.
The singular choice that is absolutely worth making is the Everything Bagel. It is consistently heralded as the shop’s masterpiece, perfectly seasoned and demonstrating the ideal balance of their signature crackly crust and fluffy interior. To complete the iconic Mt. Bagel experience, you must pair it with the Spicy Scallion Cream Cheese. This combination is often cited by customers as being "phenomenal" and the reason why the shop maintains its elite status. The powerful, savory heat of the cream cheese complements the rich, malty flavor of the bagel beautifully.
Beyond the Everything, we also recommend the Garlic Bagel, known for its intense flavor from the visible minced garlic baked onto the crust—a distinctly special item you will rarely find done this well. Regardless of your flavor choice, be sure to grab a dozen if you are making the trip. Since the shop only sells whole, untoasted bagels, you get to enjoy them at the peak of their freshness, taking them home to build your own perfect sandwich or simply enjoy them with their incredible cream cheese. Given the high demand and potential for long lines, utilizing the pre-order service on Monday mornings is the most strategic choice to guarantee you secure your favorite selection for the following week.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is hands down the best bagel in Seattle. Personally, I think the perfect bagel should have a chewy texture without being too hard—and even when toasted, the inside should stay soft. That’s exactly what they do here. They don’t toast the bagels or serve bagel sandwiches. They simply bake and sell bagels.Even around 10 a.m., there’s usually a long line, but thankfully, they still have plenty of bagels available. The shop is tucked away in a residential area, so you might be surprised there’s even a store here. It feels like a beloved local gem—and it truly is. Next time, I’m definitely getting a dozen.I got garlic, onion, and everything bagels. So far, I’ve only tried the garlic one, and it was incredible. There were bits of minced garlic on the crust, which gave it an amazing flavor—and it’s the kind of bagel you can’t find at most places, so it felt extra special. I imagine the onion one will be even better. The inside is super fluffy, the outside is crisp, and they’re nice and thick—each one is quite big. Each bagel is $2.85. Totally worth it.(2nd visit) I came back because the bagels were so delicious last time I visited. The staff is always kind, and the store is incredibly clean. Even though it was a weekday, people kept coming in—so impressive!Today, I bought two bagels and a muffin. As always, the bagels were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I made a bagel sandwich as soon as I got home, with egg, tomato, some veggies, cream cheese, and Chick-fil-A sauce—it tasted just like something you’d get at a restaurant! The bagel’s flavor is just amazing.I also tried the muffin, and it was fantastic—the crumb topping was super crunchy, and the inside was moist and soft. It tasted like something homemade, which I really loved. Most muffins are way too sweet for me, so I usually avoid them, but this one wasn’t overly sugary and you can tell they use quality ingredients.I’ll definitely be back again for more bagels and muffins!
July 09 · LThis maybe technically the best made bagel I've had. Unfortunately the first one I bit into was the garlic one which has the unmistakable flavor of burnt garlic. Might be harsh on it but $3 a bagel is a lot for something fundamentally flawed. The everything bagel is excellent crisp without needing it to be toasted.I don't get what new Yorkers are on about but this apparently is one of the few acceptable bagels to the in the city. But it's not life changing to me.Interesting enough the chocolate chip cookie is amazing. Maybe the best I have ever had with sea salt and brown butter carmelization most similar to kenjis chocolate chip cookie recipe.
August 30 · Alan WongCool bagel shop located in the middle of a residential neighborhood perched on a giant hillside. Bagels were delicious and so was the spicy scallion cream cheese. Highly recommend. Also got cold brew coffee which was also delicious. 😋No seating though :(
July 17 · Matt SmithWhat an excellent bagel. These are chewy crust bagels of your dreams. The outer shell has a sheen and good tear to it, while the inside crumb is moist, delightfully chewy and with a good malty flavor. The bagels are well coated too. The poppy seed is covered on both the top and the bottom so that if you split it both sides are great. And the salted is excellent with a bit of a sourdough bite.Service inside this shop was extremely friendly - a wonderful place to walk buy and stop in on the weekend. Don't miss these!
July 05 · Charles McClintockIf a place can make a plain bagel that I can eat and enjoy without cream cheese, that's a pretty damn good bagel place in my opinion. The inside of the bagel was perfectly soft and fluffy, with a nice chewy outside crust that did not feel like chewing through leather. Amazing service, too. Added bonus is that their chocolate chip cookies are amazing.
