Nino's Bakery Introduce
Nino's Bakery has rapidly become an essential destination for discerning pastry lovers and coffee aficionados in Washington, D.C. Located on L Street NW, this small, women-owned business has earned a stellar reputation, particularly for its world-class croissants. In a city with no shortage of bakeries, Nino's stands out by delivering an authentic, high-quality European pastry experience that patrons consistently compare to the best they've tasted in Paris.
The core identity of Nino's Bakery rests on its dedication to excellence in baking and coffee. Every pastry, from the classic Croissant ($4.00) to the inventive Pistachio Croissant ($5.00), is celebrated for being light, buttery, flaky, and perfectly balanced in sweetness—a testament to traditional, precise baking methods. This small bakery isn't just a pastry shop; it is also a coffee roastery, ensuring that every cup of Brewed Coffee ($3.00) or rich Cappuccino ($3.75) is crafted with the same commitment to quality as its baked goods.
For the downtown D.C. community, Nino's serves as the perfect spot for a quick, gourmet start to the day. Its focus on takeout and a streamlined menu is ideal for busy professionals and commuters passing through the central business district. The small size of the shop contributes to its charm, emphasizing the artisanal, high-demand nature of its products. It’s the ultimate destination when seeking out spectacular, authentic croissants in the District of Columbia.

What is Worth Choosing
For a first-time visitor or a downtown regular seeking the best of what Nino's Bakery offers, the focus should be squarely on their acclaimed baked goods and quality coffee.
The Signature Croissant Experience: The absolute must-try is the Almond Croissant ($4.75). Customers consistently highlight this specific item for its perfect blend of light pastry, rich almond filling, and ideal sweetness. Equally essential are the classic Croissant ($4.00) and the decadent Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant ($4.75). A simple croissant here is anything but simple, showcasing the pinnacle of their baking skill.
The Italian Specialty: Be sure to sample the Sfogliatelle ($4.50). This unique, shell-shaped Italian pastry is known for its many thin, crisp layers and citrus-infused filling, offering a taste of authentic European dessert tradition.
The Perfect Pairing: Since Nino's is also a coffee roaster, their coffee is an essential complement to the pastries. Order a classic Latte ($3.95) or a straightforward Brewed Coffee ($3.00) to taste the quality of their freshly roasted beans. The strong, high-quality coffee cuts through the richness of the buttery croissants perfectly.
For Group Sharing: If you are picking up for an office or family, the Box Of Assorted Sweet Croissants ($26.50) is the most efficient and satisfying option, providing a selection of their best sweet pastries, ensuring every taste is covered.
Nino's Bakery is a hidden gem in downtown D.C., where a small space yields massive flavor. It’s an essential stop for anyone living or working in the District who demands truly spectacular pastries and excellent coffee.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The amazing reviews of Nino's Bakery are spot-on! We went based on the google reviews, and I'm so glad we did. My husband and I both said that the only better croissants we've ever had were in Paris itself. We ordered two almond croissants, a pistachio croissant and a chocolate croissant, I seriously don't think I could pick one as my favorite - each one was out of this world. Light, flaky, buttery but not greasy, just sweet enough - really spectacular. We got there on a Saturday morning around 8:50am (they open at 9am) and there was already a line which I now realize is totally justified. The actual store is tiny inside, there's really no where to sit and eat, so I would consider this a to-go place. They do have a couple of tables outside, but it gets a bit awkward to sit and eat at one when there's a line of people waiting to get inside. All in all, if you're considering a visit to Nino's, I would say RUN don't walk!
September 19 · Amanda MortonI’ve been searching for good bakeries in DC ever since I moved from Korea, and I finally found one. The croissants here are so soft and not overly sweet! it’s the first time I’ve had this kind of flavor in DC. I went twice just last week, and I really hope this place stays around for a long time.
September 02 · Taeri BeecroftSmall bakery with the most incredible and unique pastries. The black sesame almond croissant is the best croissant I've ever had! Super crispy and the filling was amazing. The Sicilian pistachio cookie was delicious too and like no other cookie I've ever tasted.
May 30 · Sunni LampassoI went on a weekday morning around 9–10 am, and there was already a line. The shop is super cute, adorable design and cozy vibe!I ordered the pasticho croissant, the sesame croissant, a scone, and a coffee for takeout. The coffee and scone were pretty standard, nothing special. But the croissants? So good! Both were filled with cream and packed with flavor. The pasticho one especially was amazing!Definitely recommend stopping by to try the croissants.
June 02 · Selkie Oceanhands down the best croissants in dc! the bakery is rather small so seating is very limited but i tried various bakeries in dc and nino’s croissant was outstanding, and fresh off the oven. the bakers were also very sweet!
