The Famous Strawberry Whipped Cream Cake: This cake is the undeniable star of the show. It's described as tasting "exactly as I remember" from decades ago, retaining "the identical recipe" of a beloved closed bakery, Snowflake Bakery. This speaks volumes about the consistency and quality. It’s lauded as "hands down the best cake in Syracuse" by a long-time local, praised for being "made from scratch, moist flavorful cake, delicious fresh strawberry filling, light whipped cream, not too sugary."
Nostalgia and Tradition: The bakery is run by Fran, a former baker from the much-missed Snowflake Bakery. This connection ensures that cherished recipes and baking traditions are preserved, offering a genuine taste of the past for many customers.
Exceptional Quality and Taste: Customers consistently rave about the superior taste and quality of the products. Phrases like "creme de la creme of cakes" and "can’t think of a better tasting cake" highlight the high regard in which their offerings are held.
Scratch-Made Goodness: Emphasizing "made from scratch" reinforces the bakery’s commitment to authentic, traditional baking methods, ensuring fresh and high-quality ingredients in every product.
Hidden Gem Appeal: While "unassuming" and "all the way in the back of the plaza," its discreet location only adds to its allure as a "find" for those in the know. Discovering this spot feels like uncovering a local secret.
Cash Only Policy: This "old school" approach, while requiring preparation from customers, adds to the bakery’s unique character and simple, traditional business model.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1When I was a kid, everyone’s most requested birthday cake was the strawberry whipped cream cake with chocolate diamonds from Snowflake Bakery (it closed many many years ago). However, Fran, a former baker at Snowflake has his own Bakery now. I decided to go down memory lane, and let me tell you, 35 plus years later it tastes exactly as I remember! The identical recipe! Pure nostalgia in each and every bite! This is hands down the best cake in Syracuse and I’ve been to all the bakeries here. Made from scratch, moist flavorful cake, delicious fresh strawberry filling, light whipped cream, not too sugary. He also has many other fillings to choose from. This is a 10/10 cake! The creme de la creme of cakes! I truly can’t think of a better tasting cake! Run to get yours! Only $39 for a 9” round! His store front is very unassuming, not to fret, you won’t regret getting this cake, it will be the talk of the town at any gathering! So glad I found this spot! We will be back for everyone’s birthday again! He’s all the way in the back of the plaza, you can’t see it from the road. Lots of other cookies, and he does trays for Christmas. Who knew, but Jamesville truly has all the gems! 🎂🍰🎂No website, he’s old school. 💕 CASH ONLY!
June 14 · Allison KrupkeWhat a find! This place is amazing. Pastry Palace was able to make a same-day special order of an incredible buttercream black forest birthday cake. It was delicious!
July 22 · m KThe owner (Fran, I rhink) spends ti.e with you talking about his goods. Super warm and friendly place with good baked goods. It's a small neighborhood place. He said he does catering.I got a bunch of stuff (kind of a carb addict). Everything was fresh and delicious. The place wasn't the cleanest I've seen but far from the dirtiest. I wish it were a little more polished but not a deal breaker in light of the warm welcome and great pasteries. Will definitely be back.
December 10 · Kevin Lucas ArtGreat ice cream. Hill top in pompey learn this lesson. The portions here are what your supposed to get when you order a large!!! You leave here satisfied and get what you pay for!!!
June 08 · truth hunterI’ve been here several times over the last few years, and I’d go more often if I didn’t live clear across town. Everything tastes so good. I usually buy rugelach and hamantaschen or other fruit filled cookies. Francis is always very willing to whip up cookies when I call and even makes extras since he knows others will buy them too. This last time, he even made me nut-free rugelach. He makes them with a traditional Jewish recipe using cream cheese. My husband went down to the city this week and came back with some rugelach and hamantaschen, but although they were good, they weren’t awesome like Francis’s. I was upset to find that Harrison bakery was no longer doing hamantachen for Purim last year or this one, but realized after having another of Francis’s that it doesn’t matter. His are so good.Plus he’s always up for a chat even though he must get so tired being on his feet all day. I can also recommend his flaky apple and cherry pastry slices and other cookies. I have yet to try the beautiful strawberry cake, but I will eventually. They look so good. I think it’s his biggest seller. He does mostly cookies, cannolis, cakes, and the pie rectangles. I don’t think he does bread or donuts. It’s literally pastries. So don’t expect everything. He’s only a one guy show. If you ask for something though, he’ll do his best to help you.Take cash, because he doesn’t accept cards. If you forget, the gas station in front has an ATM.Also give him a try if you haven’t. It’s worth it!
