Pinklady Cheese Tart Introduce
Pinklady Cheese Tart is a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of New York City’s bustling Chinatown. While its name might suggest a single specialty, this cozy spot has become a local favorite for a variety of delightful treats, from their signature Japanese-style cheese tarts to a refreshing selection of juice-based drinks and smoothies. This isn’t your typical large, sit-down café; it’s a small, vibrant space dedicated to crafting high-quality, delicious desserts and beverages that are perfect for a quick snack or a special treat. The shop's unassuming exterior on Mott Street belies the rich, creamy, and flavorful creations waiting inside. It's a place where locals can pop in for a quick pick-me-up or grab a box of tarts to share with friends and family. The menu is thoughtfully curated, focusing on a few core items done exceptionally well.
The core of Pinklady's appeal lies in its dedication to a specific, and often unique, style of dessert. Their cheese tarts are based on the popular Japanese Hokkaido-style, known for a lighter, fluffier texture than traditional American cheesecake. This gives the tarts a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth quality that keeps customers coming back. The shop's commitment to using quality ingredients is evident in every bite, with a buttery crust that perfectly complements the rich, creamy filling. But it's not just about the tarts. Pinklady has successfully expanded its offerings to include other tempting items that cater to a wide range of tastes. From Basque cheesecakes to a variety of milk teas and smoothies, they’ve created a full-fledged dessert destination. The atmosphere, while small, is welcoming and efficient, with a digital ordering system that makes getting your treats a breeze, especially for those on the go.
Beyond the baked goods, the drink menu is a standout feature. Customers rave about the fresh, tangy flavors in their smoothies and yogurt drinks. These aren't overly sweet, sugar-laden beverages; they are a perfect balance of fruit and creaminess, offering a genuinely refreshing experience. Whether you’re looking for a burst of tropical mango or a classic yogurt blend, the drinks provide a perfect counterpoint to the rich desserts. The shop’s friendly and efficient staff contribute to a positive customer experience, making every visit a pleasant one. It’s a place that feels both authentic and modern, a true reflection of the diverse culinary landscape of Chinatown.
The success of Pinklady Cheese Tart is a testament to its founders’ vision. Inspired by the popular cheese tarts in Malaysia and Japan, they brought their own unique, less-sweet, and fluffier version to New York. Everything, from the tarts to the smoothies, is made in-house, ensuring a level of freshness and quality that mass-produced alternatives can’t match. This dedication to craft has earned them a loyal following, with many customers considering it their "guilty pleasure" and a mandatory stop whenever they are in the neighborhood.
Pinklady Cheese Tart is situated at 11 Mott Street, New York, NY 10013, placing it right in the heart of Chinatown. This prime location makes it a convenient stop for anyone exploring the area, whether they're coming from the nearby financial district, Little Italy, or the Lower East Side. As is typical for this vibrant neighborhood, the area is heavily trafficked by both pedestrians and vehicles, so it's a bustling and lively spot.
The shop is highly accessible by public transportation. The nearest subway stations, including the Canal Street station (serving the J, Z, N, Q, R, W, and 6 lines) and the Grand Street station (serving the B and D lines), are just a short walk away. This makes it easy for New Yorkers from all over the city to get there without a car. For those who do drive, parking can be challenging, as Mott Street is a one-way street with limited spots. Street parking is often scarce, and finding a garage may require a walk. The shop itself is small and primarily designed for takeout, which is perfect given the high-traffic location. It does offer a small amount of standing room inside, but it's most suitable for a grab-and-go experience. The shop is also wheelchair accessible, which is a great feature for a business in this area.

Authentic Japanese-Style Cheese Tarts: The main draw of the shop is its signature cheese tarts. They are celebrated for their unique texture—a buttery, firm crust paired with a fluffy, creamy, and slightly gooey cheese filling that is less sweet than traditional American cheesecake. They are made in-house daily.
Diverse Flavors: In addition to the classic original cheese flavor, Pinklady offers a rotating selection of other delicious varieties. These include Ube, Matcha, Black Sesame, Chocolate, Strawberry, Lemon, and Blueberry, ensuring there's a flavor for every palate. The ube and black sesame flavors are particularly popular.
Refreshing Drink Menu: Customers consistently praise the selection of drinks. The fruit smoothies, like the mango smoothie, are noted for their fresh, "zingy tang" and a thin, refreshing consistency. They also offer a variety of yogurt drinks, milk teas, and coffees.
Basque Burnt Cheesecake: This is another highlight on the menu, offered in both vanilla and ube flavors. It’s described as being incredibly creamy and not overly sweet, with the signature caramelized burnt top that makes this style of cheesecake so popular.
High-Quality Ingredients: The shop prides itself on using fresh, high-quality ingredients, with many items being homemade. The yogurt drinks, for instance, are made with fresh milk yogurt and real fruit, without artificial colors or preservatives.
Social Media Presence: The shop has gained a strong following on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, thanks to the visually appealing nature of their desserts and the satisfying "ooze" of the warm cheese tarts, making it a popular spot for foodies and content creators.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Small and unassuming. The tarts are small, and buying two is what makes the most sense. Good digital ordering system. The texture is lighter than a typical cheesecake. Solid little snack. The fruit smoothie has an awesome zingy tang to it (I had mango). Smoothie is thin liquid with ice, very refreshing.
May 25 · Michael RichardsonThe Vanilla Basque Cheesecake was nice and creamy without being too sweet. Got the 4" one and it was a pretty decent size. I didn't see any spoons available and one was not provided. Would have been good to have. The yogurt drink tasted fresh.
March 03 · Carrie SuenFirst time here. The shop smells delicious! Got this cute 6 pack for $22. Totally worth it! The tart is like a light, airy-flavored mousse. Can't wait to eat the rest! You can have it warm or cold. 5 stars!
March 16 · Liz WongI ordered a box of cheese tarts. They were packed in a nice, sturdy box, two levels with separations between each tarts. They were really delicious; they were not very sweet, but still a strong and delicious flavor. It was great to sample different flavors with friends. While I was there, I also enjoyed an ube cold brew. I'm not the biggest tube fan, but woah - this use cream really delicious, and the cold brew had a great taste. The cold brew was a bit on the sweeter side, so I will go for less sweet next time. This bakery is is the perfect level of sweetness for the Asian palate with great Asian flavors, like ube and matcha.
July 18 · EmOur experience was a bit mixed. The crust of the cheese tarts was much firmer than what we expected, while the filling was a touch too soft, which left a contrast that made each bite a little less satisfying. That said, the flavors themselves were quite nice, and we enjoyed the distinct taste of the Pandan, Ube, and Black Sesame. Note this is mainly a takeout spot with just a bit of standing room inside.
