March 14 · Christine HigginbottomA Disappointing Experience with Piro’s Bakery – Poor Service and No AccountabilityI rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience with Piro’s Bakery was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share. I placed a cake order for a holiday celebration and expected a smooth and professional transaction. What I received was the exact opposite.Upon arrival, I was told my order was lost. Then, suddenly, it was found—only for me to be handed the wrong cakes, one of which was clearly old. The writing was barely visible, the decorations were bleeding, and the overall presentation was completely unacceptable. When I voiced my concerns to the staff, I was told there was nothing they could do because it was Easter weekend. I asked to speak with a manager and was informed "no manager was on duty"—on one of the busiest weekends of the year.To resolve the issue, I was told I needed to bring back the incorrect cakes in order to receive the correct ones. Not only is that inconvenient, but it also raised a serious question about food safety. If cakes are returned, are they just being resold to other customers? When I returned to the bakery, I was again told there was no manager available. However, to my surprise, another staff member placed an internal call and—suddenly—the manager was located in the back of the store the entire time. When she finally came out, her response to my concerns was: “Well, you have the correct cakes now. Have a great weekend.” No apology. No ownership. No attempt at meaningful resolution. It was clear she just wanted me to go away. After I called her back and demanded a refund, she implied I was at fault because I had “gotten an extra cake” and continued to cite how busy the bakery was due to the holiday. I reminded her that if a business cannot manage the volume of orders, it is their responsibility to limit orders—not penalize customers with poor service. My time is valuable too, and I intentionally hired a bakery to alleviate the stress of a busy holiday. In the end, I did receive a refund—but not without being told to leave the property. What was most baffling was the manager’s attitude. She acted like she was the one being wronged, when in reality, I was the paying customer simply asking for what I ordered.Mistakes happen. But how a business handles them speaks volumes. At no point did anyone at Piro’s take responsibility or try to make things right in a respectful or professional manner. Blaming the customer and hiding behind the excuse of being “busy” is unacceptable.I will not be returning—and I sincerely hope they rethink how they treat their customers moving forward. It is the lying, victimization, and lack of professionalism that will keep me from returning.
April 21 · Kate Lamanna-ChavousCalled in a couple days in advance. Asked for a blue bake with chris written on it but asked to keep putting “s” until they ran out of room. They made a beautiful cake and it exceeded my expectations. Cake was good and my boyfriend had a good laugh. Great bakery!
April 30 · Shannon UphamStopped in to buy a plate of Italian cookies because I’ve heard good things. Walked in the front door and was overwhelmed by the delicious smells and sites. Cakes, cookies, pies, cupcakes, fresh breads…it all looked amazing. Bought several items and all of them were good. Will totally be back. What kept it from being a full 5 stars was the price. The Italian cookies seemed a bit overpriced to me. But other than that everything was great. I don’t mind paying more for quality but I was sticker shocked for sure at the register.
December 21 · Wade YoungWe ordered our wedding cake through Piros and it was amazing! We ordered a smaller size cutting cake and a sheet cake–it made things so easy both for prep/serving the cake as well as being so much more cost effective! The cutting cake was decorated exactly how I envisioned it, and the ordering process was very easy. We got the strawberry cake and it was the best cake we’ve ever had. We have received more compliments on the cake from guests than anything else–almost everyone had some at the wedding and took a piece home! We would absolutely order from Piros again and would recommend them to anyone!
