★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My go-to place for certain homemade sweets when I'm in the mood. The owners are so nice and helpful on every trip that I make to their fabulous store in Pochantas. Saturday is the best, as every case is filled with goodies. So some of my homemade favorites are: carrot cake, ding dongs, creme horns, sugar cookies with icing, german chocolate Long John's, coffee cakes, donuts, and homemade breads. Not to mention the antiques, plants, homemade crafts, pantry goods, and old-fashioned candy, soda pop. You have to check this place out, I recommend early morning or you might miss out on their sweets. Big shout out to always being stocked up and follow on FB to see what's new.
May 21 · RoseOn our way home to Missouri from Eastern Illinois we stopped in this quaint little town and visited some antique shops before stopping at the Sweet Shop and Mercantile. I bought a cheese danish. It was without a doubt the best sweet roll I have tasted. Be sure to visit this charming little shop and buy some delicious pastries. Your taste buds will thank you!!
March 03 · Shelly CoxWonderful visit! Bakery items are truly phenomenal! Superb customer service as well. Highly recommended 😊
July 06 · Will LaneI didn't buy any food. But, the selection of plants for sale was outstanding. Very good quality. The owner, Jennifer is a very nice woman. She is a down to earth person. Very knowledgeable about plants and other products that she sells. Highly recommended.
June 11 · Ron WallaceStopped there on a bike ride with my dad! Friendly on purpose, cozy environment, great bakes, and we were even offered free coffee and a place to sit. The German chocolate pastry was awesome! The owner took time to talk to us as well, and it was neat to hear how he’s made efforts to preserve the history of the downtown area. Glad we visited & we’ll stop by again when we’re in that neck of the woods!
