Sasoun Bakery Introduce
Sasoun Bakery in Reseda stands as a cherished culinary destination, bringing the rich, traditional flavors of Armenian and Middle Eastern baking right into the heart of the San Fernando Valley. This isn't just another local bakery; it's a piece of cultural heritage, celebrated by the Los Angeles community for its dedication to authentic recipes and high-quality ingredients. Located conveniently in Reseda, the bakery has carved out a loyal following, often praised for its excellent service and the consistently fresh taste of its savory and sweet offerings. For California residents seeking a true taste of traditional flatbreads, flaky pastries, and hearty baked goods, Sasoun Bakery offers an unforgettable and deeply satisfying experience.
The foundation of Sasoun Bakery’s reputation lies in its mastery of a few core, time-honored dishes. These specialty items are what draw customers from across the region. You will find staples like the iconic lahmajun, often referred to as "Armenian pizza," a thin, round dough topped with fresh, lean ground beef mixed with finely chopped vegetables and spices. However, the true stars that define the bakery’s distinct flavor profile are the various forms of savory 'beorek' and the aromatic 'manieshe' bread.
Beorek, which may also appear as 'borek' or 'beirek' on the menu, represents a family of baked or fried pastries made of a thin, flaky dough (like phyllo) and filled with savory stuffings. Sasoun Bakery's beoreks are legendary. Customers consistently rave about the Cheese Beorek, a triangular-shaped pastry filled with a perfect, blended mix of cheese, onion, and parsley. For those who prefer a little heat, the Spicy Cheese Beorek elevates the experience with a hint of red pepper, creating an explosion of flavor within the freshly rolled dough blanket. The menu also typically features a vegetarian-friendly Spinach Beorek, a delightful blend of fresh spinach, onions, and secret spices, and a Potato Beorek, which consists of a puree of potato, fresh herbs, and spices. For meat lovers, the Beef Beorek is a warm pocket of dough generously stuffed with seasoned, freshly ground lean beef. These pastries are comforting, filling, and perfect for a quick, flavorful meal or snack.
Equally as essential is the Manieshe bread (also called Manoushe or Manakish). This is a truly unique flatbread experience, consisting of a soft and fluffy dough thinly spread with a custom, house-blended mixture of thyme, spices, sesame seeds, and vegetable oil—a blend known as za'atar. It is a quintessential Middle Eastern breakfast and street food item, praised for its aromatic and earthy flavor. The Maneishe is a simple yet profound offering, embodying the bakery's commitment to delivering authentic tastes. One customer specifically advised: "You have to taste the manieshe bread."
The high quality and freshness of the food, coupled with friendly and accommodating staff, are recurring themes in customer feedback. Even non-Armenian patrons report feeling welcomed and appreciate the effort by the staff to answer questions about the traditional food offerings.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This location is inside Jon's Market. The employee was very kind and patiently answered my questions. I ordered 2 different beorek. 1 stuffed with spinach. The other with cheese. Both were excellent. The cheese stuffed beorek is a little spicy. We had wanted to try a cake too, but this location only had bread and yogurt drinks at 1 pm, Wednesday, September 10.
September 10 · Paulette PagliaThe food was delicious, fresh, and of excellent quality! There were so many different meat, potato, and cheese dishes. Moreover, several new dips. You have to taste the manieshebread. The staff is incredibly warm and accommodating. We absolutely plan to return andsample more pastries, and you need do as well! Strongly advised.
June 29 · Itzel GarciaThank you Sasoun for making great food that's as just as delicious at home cooked Armenian food in your beautiful bakery. Your takeout process is so smooth and service is always delightful. I'm very grateful to places like yours for affordable food that does not compromise on flavor. Truly top notch service! Five stars out of five! If you have never been I would say start out by trying the Lahmajune as the lamb is delicious.
May 10 · nathasha pinedaDiscovered this bakery in Reseda today and found the food to be very good. We ordered a mix of different beorek, cheese spicy, spinach and beef. The meat was so good. Next time I think, I’ll just have the lamb pizza as it looked good when it came out of the oven but we have already paid for our order. Can’t wait to go back!
April 27 · Santiago DuarteI don't usually come to this area but had some errands to run and find myself near this bakery in Glendale. I was hungry so headed in for a quick bite to eat. I wasn't sure what Armenian food was but was up for trying something new. I got the cheese borek and some tahini cookies, both of which were nothing special but really good quality. I definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for some fresh, easy to grab food vegetarian options! Nice staff and good service.
