Supermoon Bakehouse’s identity is built around a blend of masterful technique and playful imagination. The team behind the counter is committed to creating pastries that are not only beautiful to look at but also packed with flavor and texture. Their signature items, like the Banana Split Sunday croissant, are a perfect example of this philosophy in action. Customers rave about the crisp, flaky layers of the croissant dough and the amazing, flavorful fillings that are generously piped inside. The bakery is also celebrated for its unique twists on other favorites, such as the "do-nutella" and the "Ferrero cronut," which have been described as some of the best pastries customers have ever had. This dedication to quality and inventiveness is a key reason why the bakery has garnered such a strong reputation, even being recognized by major publications for its work. The fact that the pastries are filled to the brim with deliciousness is a consistent point of praise, ensuring that every bite is as satisfying as the last.
The experience at Supermoon Bakehouse is also defined by its distinctive atmosphere. The shop has a "cool vibe" that some customers describe as a bit "weird" in a good way, which fits perfectly with the artistic and eclectic spirit of the Lower East Side. However, it's important for locals to know that the space is focused entirely on the creation and sale of these treats. There is no seating area and no public bathroom, making it strictly a take-away spot. This design choice puts the full emphasis on the product itself and the efficient service of the friendly staff. This guide will provide you with all the essential information you need to make your visit a success, from finding the bakery to navigating the menu and understanding the overall experience, so you can be prepared to grab your pastries and enjoy them on the go.
Supermoon Bakehouse is located at 120 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002. This address places it firmly in the heart of the Lower East Side, a neighborhood famous for its dynamic culture, artistic scene, and independent food shops. The bakery is situated on a street that is bustling with activity but can be a bit tricky to spot due to its unique exterior. The aesthetic of the shop adds to its "cool vibes," making it a destination for those who appreciate design as much as they appreciate good food.
The location's accessibility is a key part of its appeal for New Yorkers. It is conveniently situated within walking distance of several major subway stations. The F, M, J, and Z trains at the Delancey Street-Essex Street station and the F train at the 2nd Avenue station are all close by. The neighborhood is highly walkable, allowing locals and visitors alike to stroll through the streets and take in the vibrant surroundings. The shop's popularity means it can get busy, but the efficient take-away model ensures that the line moves along at a reasonable pace.
Supermoon Bakehouse offers an exciting and ever-changing menu of inventive baked goods, with a strong focus on croissants and doughnuts. Their selection is known for being highly creative and delicious.
- Inventive Croissants: The bakery specializes in high-quality croissants, often with surprising fillings. The NYC croissant, a lox and cream cheese-filled version, is another example of their creativity.

- Soft Serve: Supermoon also offers unique soft serve ice cream, including a croissant butter flavor and others like Thai tea. These are a great treat on their own or paired with a pastry.
- Take-Away Only: It is important to note that the bakery operates on a take-away-only model. This means there is no seating inside, so customers should plan to enjoy their treats on the go or elsewhere.
Supermoon Bakehouse stands out in the crowded New York City bakery scene due to a few key features that define its brand and customer experience.
- Inventive and Delicious Pastries: The bakery is celebrated for its highly creative and "game-changing" pastries. The use of unique flavor combinations and a generous amount of filling in each item is a major highlight.
- High-Quality Laminated Dough: Customers consistently praise the quality of the laminated dough used for their croissants and cronuts. It is described as perfectly crisp, flaky, and buttery, which is the foundation of a great pastry.
- "Cool" and Distinctive Vibe: The bakery's aesthetic and take-away-only model create a unique, "cool" atmosphere. This vibe, combined with the visually stunning pastries, makes it a popular spot for social media and a fun place to visit.

Supermoon Bakehouse - Gelato Pints & Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Thai Iced Tea & Kaya Toast - Gelato Pint US$16.00
We've been making Thai Iced Tea Eclairs, Croissants, Doughnuts & Soft Serve for years! (And it's always a best seller) For this gelato we wanted to add some more depth to it and introduce something new that we haven't used at the bakehouse before: Kaya Toast! Kaya jam is a creamy, tropical spread made from coconut milk, sugar, eggs, and pandan leaves. Paired with buttery toast (aka Kaya Toast), it becomes a beloved Singaporean and Malaysian breakfast treat. In lieu of bread, we made some honey butter waffle cones to add that crunchy burnt toast! Thai Tea Gelato, Kaya Jam Swirl, Honey Waffle Cone Pieces Contains Dairy, Egg, Gluten, Coconut
- White Sesame, Honeycomb & Sweet Soy - Gelato Pint US$16.00
We wanted to create a flavor that truly blows minds... and this was it. Super complex - sweet, salty, nutty, creamy and just downright insanely delicious. White Sesame Gelato, Homemade Honeycomb, Honey Sesame Snaps, Sweet Soy Swirl Contains: Sesame Seeds. Soy, Milk, Egg, Honey
- Passionfruit Mojito Sorbet (V) - Gelato Pint US$16.00
Inspired by our favorite things to have in the Summer: Passionfruit, Mojito's and the infamous (in Australia anyway) Pornstar Martini (a passionfruit flavored martini) we bring you Passionfruit Mojito Sorbet! Passionfruit, Mint, Lime and Lyre's Non-Alcoholic Rum. And yes, it's Vegan, Non-Alcoholic, Gluten Free.
- Banana Dulce De Leche Brûlée - Gelato Pint US$16.00
This is a baby of 2 gelatos we were testing: a Salted Dulce De Leche and a Banana Pudding Gelato. And as we were testing them, someone in the kitchen said "what if we mixed them together" (and did the thing with their hands where they intertwine the fingers of each hand) So we took a spoon of each, put in our mouths and fell in love. Salted Banana Dulce De Leche Gelato, Banana Miso Caramel, Brûléed Banana and Toffee Pieces. Contains Dairy, Eggs, Bananas.
- Salted Malted Chocolate - Gelato Pint US$16.00
Simply what we think is literally the perfect chocolate gelato. So far the fan favorite, but you tell us (aka our friends who have tested our gelatos) Salted, Malted Valrhona Chocolate Gelato with Valrhona Chocolate Stracciatella Stracciatella is just a fancy Italian way of seeing really fine chocolate flakes drizzled throughout the ice cream (The name comes from stracciatella soup, which has beaten egg drizzled in and forms little eggy flakes) Contains Dairy, Gluten (malt)
- Ube, Condensed Milk & Honey Joys - Gelato Pint US$16.00
We really love Ube at Supermoon. Really really love it. This is our take on our Ube Eclair and the garnish from our (rated top 5 cookies in NY times) Honey Cornflake cookie. And, if we don't say so ourselves, is phenomal. Ube Gelato, Condensed Milk Swirl & Honey Joy Clusters (i know the name is not very inventive) Honey Joys are gooey honey & butter roasted cornflakes treats that are usually served at kids birthday parties in Australia. We think they should be served in Michelin star restaurants (and refuse to grow up). Contains Dairy, Gluten, Honey
- Twizzler, Lychee & Rose - Gelato Pint US$16.00
We start by melting down heaps of Twizzlers, spinning them into a vibrant, twizzler-infused gelato. Then, we balance the sweetness with delicate floral notes of a lychee rose jam swirl. Twizzler Gelato, Lychee Rose Jam Swirl. Contains Dairy, Eggs, Soy
- Ube Pandan Ice Cream Sandwich (New!) US$11.50
Our best selling (and most viral) frozen baked good ! Our first ever Ice Cream Sandwich. One layer of Ube, Cornflake & Condensed Milk Gelato, One layer of Pandan Gelato and Kaya Jam sandwiched between two homemade Ube Blondies (Purplies?)
- Salted Malted Double Stuff Cookies & Cream - Gelato Pint US$16.00
Our signature Salty Malty Vanilla Bean Gelato with plenty of Double Stuf Oreos crushed and swirl through. Warning: This is very addictive Gelato!
- Calpico Strawberry Yuzu - Gelato Pint (New!) US$16.00
Calpico gelato (Japan’s beloved sweet and tangy drink). Swirled with homemade strawberry-yuzu jam for the perfect harmony of citrusy zest and fruity sweetness—a refreshing twist you won’t forget!
- Miso Crème Brûlee - Gelato Pint (New!) US$16.00
Salty. Sweet. Creamy. Crunchy. Umami. This ticks all the boxes. Miso Crème Brûlée gelato infused with crunchy toffee pieces. Each bite brings that irresistible crème brûlée caramelized crunch with a delightful umami twist.
- Black & White Cookies And Cream Ice Cream Sandwich US$11.50
Ever wondered what happens when you cross a classic New York Black & White Cookie with Cookies & Cream ice cream? We did. (In fact, we spent the last 6 months testing this to make sure it was perfect). The result: one of the best ice cream sandwiches we’ve ever tasted. Four layers of deliciousness—two unique takes on Cookies & Cream gelato sandwiched between two decadent brownies. On top, a fudgy chocolate brownie; next, creamy salted vanilla gelato loaded with classic Oreo crumbs; then a luscious salted chocolate gelato packed with sweet golden Oreos; and finally, at the bottom, a buttery blondie—all stacked in perfectly inverted layers. Each bite delivers playful contrasts of color and flavor, turning this nostalgic duo into an irresistible frozen masterpiece (at least, that’s what we think!).

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently visited Supermoon Bakehouse in the Lower East Side, and it was honestly a game-changer for my pastry experience! The moment I walked in, I was drawn to their stunning display of inventive pastries. I tried their Banana Split Sunday croissant, and it was a delicious twist on a classic. The layers were perfectly crisp, and the banana cream filling was amazing. The staff was so friendly, and the vibe of the bakery made it a fun place to hang out. If you’re in NYC and love pastries, this place is a must-visit!
March 01 · Dana SalvatoreHonestly, this was such a weird place! 😃 Quite hard to spot due to the exterior. Cool vibes. The pastry was delicious, some of the best we have ever had. We tried do-nutella, ferrero cronut and pain au nutella. All amazing. With a lot of filling. The place was busy. There is no seating area, no bathroom, so just for a take away.Highly recommend and hopefully they will soon clean the window (or is that part of the vibe?). 😃
April 17 · AnnaFinally made a point of visiting this high performance bakery. Very spartan concrete & steel space with the functioning bakery behind a red toned industrial polyurethane curtains. All available items are placed on a 16’ stainless steel island. A little over 20 items were displayed on my visit from ice cream sandwiches to sweet pastries to baguette sandwiches for take away.I chose the passion fruit custard donut, mango lime custard donut, Thai iced tea bi-color croissant, ube éclair along with one scoop of Thai iced tea and Kaya toast gelato & a scoop of sesame honeycomb and sweet soy gelato in a cup.The gelato texture was quite excellent and the flavor was certainly unique and rich. I enjoyed them both. We saved the pastries for an after dinner dessert. The flavor of the passion fruit custard donut & ube éclair were absolutely exemplary. The mango/lime custard donut was very tasty as well. The croissant was larger than most due to the luscious Thai iced tea custard lurking within! All the pastries were filled abundantly! The two gentlemen at the island were all smiles & clearly confident of all the offerings. They were knowledgeable & helpful too.The items are expensive but that’s more a statement of the quality ingredients & labor intensive demands of each handmade product. I highly suggest a visit. It is a very worthwhile trip.
May 29 · Thomas FallsThis bakery is a must-visit for pastry lovers. I’ve tried countless varieties, and they’re always a hit. The flavors are never too overwhelming, and each pastry is bursting with taste. If you’re in town, make sure to check it out.The staff is incredibly friendly. Despite not having any seating or accommodations, the bakery offers a phenomenal takeout experience. Lastly, follow their instagram to keep up with their selection.
April 26 · Haitham AbuWe went around 5pm in the afternoon and the storefront was completely empty, save for the one employee manning the front. As other people have mentioned, the store decor itself is very minimalistic, save for the metal counter that displays all the pastries for sale and the red plastic/vinyl cover to their back room. Unfortunately by the time we got there, most of their most popular pastry items were already sold out, but we asked for their recommendations of the things that they did have and ordered based off of that. We got the apple pie eclair and the Black Forest chocolate croissant and they bagged it up for us to take on the go, as there's no indoor seating. My favorite was the apple pie eclair - crispy choux pastry piped with cream in both the inside and outside topped with dehydrated apple slices. The cream tasted EXACTLY like an apple pie, with some nice texture from the pastry and the apple slices. The Black Forest chocolate croissant was also great! Only small complaint is that I wish it had more filling (or was more evenly distributed throughout the croissant) since it took like 3-4 bites to get to the filling itself. The entire croissant had great strong cherry and chocolate flavor and the croissant itself retained its crispiness even hours after we bought it.I would love to come back and try some of the other (sold out) things that they offered, everything looked so yum!
