The Coffee Talk Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For those of us in the Waukesha area, and indeed across Southeastern Wisconsin, finding a truly local spot that combines a warm, inviting atmosphere with genuinely exceptional, homemade food is a treasure. The Coffee Talk Bakery, nestled on Saylesville Rd in Waukesha, is exactly this kind of 'diamond in the rough.' Far from a sterile chain, this establishment offers a unique and deeply satisfying experience rooted in quality baking and friendly service, making it a beloved stop for regulars and a delightful discovery for newcomers.
The first impression of The Coffee Talk Bakery is one of quaint, rural charm. Housed in what customers describe as a converted barn, the structure possesses a unique, slightly unexpected character. This rustic exterior, which might initially cause one to pause, gives way to an interior that has been lovingly remodeled into a cozy, small restaurant space. This setting manages to strike a perfect balance, blending a country kitchen feel with the function of a modern cafe. It’s an environment conducive to relaxation and conversation, or even just a quick moment of peace before starting the day. Patrons frequently remark on the welcoming, almost giddy feeling they get upon seeing the truly generous and tempting array of baked goods displayed inside.
While the name suggests a focus on coffee, it is the phenomenal bakery selection that truly 'blindsides' visitors—in the best possible way. The offerings are not only large and plentiful but are also incredibly affordable, defying the often-high prices of gourmet treats. From massive slices of chocolate cake to generously frosted scones and a wide selection of coffee cakes and cinnamon rolls, The Coffee Talk Bakery has cemented its reputation as a premier destination for anyone seeking a substantial and high-quality sweet treat in the Waukesha County area. It's a place where the community clearly converges, a good sign given the reported presence of many loyal regulars, a true testament to the consistent quality and charm of this local Wisconsin favorite.

What is worth choosing
For any local in Waukesha or a traveler passing through, The Coffee Talk Bakery is worth choosing for several compelling reasons that extend beyond simply grabbing a quick bite. This establishment offers a distinct experience that a major corporate chain simply cannot replicate. The central appeal lies in the baked goods themselves. They are not merely small, standardized portions; they are substantial, fresh, and created with a clear dedication to home-style quality. Whether you choose a scone with a generous amount of frosting or face the "tough choice" of which coffee cake to select—be it the praised Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake or another variant—you are guaranteed a satisfying, delicious item.
Furthermore, the value here is significant. Customers are repeatedly "blindsided" not just by the selection, but by how affordable such high-quality, large portions are. In a state that appreciates good value and hearty food, The Coffee Talk Bakery delivers on both counts. The atmosphere of a "country kitchen" inside a converted barn provides a much-needed break from the typical fast-paced environment. It is a setting that encourages one to sit down, sip on a great Chai Latte or cup of coffee, and truly savor the moment. Even if you only have time for a 'Quick visit,' the staff packages your selection beautifully, allowing you to take that giddy feeling of discovery and deliciousness with you.
The dedication to making visitors feel comfortable is also evident in the practical amenities, such as accessible facilities and free Wi-Fi. This bakery is more than just a place to get coffee and cake; it is a community anchor where "nice folks" serve "excellent baked goods," making it a uniquely Wisconsin place that deserves to be on every local's must-visit list for breakfast or a mid-day treat. The evident loyalty of the customer base—those many "regulars"—is the strongest endorsement possible, indicating a consistent, high-quality experience that keeps people coming back again and again.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I stopped in for a quick coffee and was blindsided by the amazing bakery selection. Pieces of chocolate cake large enough to feed at least two people (see photo with my hand for scale), scones with generous amounts of frosting, and savory options for those looking for something more substantial. And all of it is incredibly affordable. I came in for coffee and left with that and some cake and a brownie. They packaged it beautifully and I left feeling giddy and this little diamond in the rough. If I didn’t need to be somewhere I would have stayed to sit down and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. It’s like sitting in a country kitchen. I cant recommend this place enough!
May 03 · Jessica MarieStopped in for the first time. Right as they opened at 8am. The place is a little odd, but charming at the same time. It's a converted barn, and from the outside you might actually think that it's still being used. There is parking behind the barn, and some seating outside. (posted signs about Bees, and some places are off limits, but I didn't see any beehives?)The lower level of the barn had been converted/remodeled into a small restaurant space. There are several wooden tables. What is so very suprising was the large selection of home made bakery and pastry items. They all looked fresh and LARGE.I love a good scone, which they had, but they also had a selection of different coffee cakes, and cinnamon rolls. It was a tough choice but I ended up getting the Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake. They also made me a Chai Latte, in a mug. A was a great combination. The coffee cake was a little dry/crumbly (which I like), so it paired well with the hot chai. The place was busy. And from the sound of it, there were lots of regulars. That's always a good sign. Some people ordered breakfast and egg dishes. They all looked goo. It's a nice place, with nice folks, and excellent baked good. I would have preferred a bit more inside seating, but they are working with limited space. The outside could benefit from some better landscaping, and seating areas.
May 31 · Scott WA real gem! Stopped into the Coffee Talk Bakery for the first time and we were delighted with everything. Tempting selection of bakery items, but we decided on lunch (we did grab a peanut butter bar for the ride home). The soup and sandwich (Cubano) were delicious. Owners are very friendly -- there's a rich family history to this place. Will definitely be back.
