★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hungarian pastry shop in the upper west side and I was blown away by their incredible cherry strudel. As a self-proclaimed pastry aficionado, I've tried my fair share of strudels, but this one was truly exceptional. The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery, with a delicate balance of crunch and tenderness. It was clear that the bakers had spent years perfecting their craft, as every bite was a masterclass in texture and flavor. The sour cherry filling was sweet and tart, with a depth of flavor that was both refreshing and indulgent. The cherries were perfectly balanced, neither too sweet nor too sour, and the filling was generous without being overwhelming. What truly set this strudel apart, however, was its authentic Hungarian flavor. Every bite was a taste of traditional Hungarian baking. The caramel custard was also delicious. The toffee top shell was a bit too sweet howeverRating: 5/5 starsPrice: $$ 5.50Recommended for: Pastry lovers, fans of traditional Hungarian baking, anyone looking for a delicious dessert.
March 08 · Firdous KhanBest neighborhood coffee shop on the UWS. Phil and his parents have worked hard to make this café a great place for locals and tourists to hang and it has been for decades upon decades. Don't let the long line deter you - have often times had great conversations with other patrons while waiting. Love how they're dog friendly (and sometimes even give our dog whipped cream). Highly recommend the Russian hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. And for warmer days, an iced apple cider hits the spot!
March 01 · Eleni TountasThe place is packed, you may have to wait on line for a while. People share tables. Some work on their gadgets and others chat with groups. It is pretty noisy. The deserts are so colorful and my black coffee is good. This is one of the most popular coffee shops in Upper Westside of Manhattan. Try it.
April 01 · Ching JuhlOne comes here for the pastries. The coffees are excellent and the dining room is relaxing and chaotic at the same time which is part of the charm. The pastries are fantastic. The strudel with cherries and cheese and the chocolate croissant are not too doughy, perfectly flaky and sweet and satisfying. The strudel is definitely a grander undertaking as it is dense and rich
April 18 · Nilesh PatelThe counter staff was very friendly and took their time to answer questions despite their being a line out of the door. I purchased the raspberry sandwich cookies (delicious), the tres leche (very tasty), and the cherry pastry not the pie (also very nice). I came there around 6pm and everything tasted fresh. There were also seats available. I would go here again.
