Welcome Home Introduce
Are you on the hunt for a true neighborhood gem that serves up some of the best artisanal baked goods in Brooklyn? Look no further than Welcome Home, a bakery that has quickly become a beloved staple in the Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy) community. This isn't just another place to grab a coffee and a pastry; it's a warm, inviting space built on a foundation of quality, community, and an undeniable passion for baking. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the irresistible scent of fresh bread and sweet treats, a testament to their commitment to crafting everything in-house with the highest care. Welcome Home has carved out a unique space for itself, blending classic techniques with a creative and seasonal menu that keeps locals coming back for more. It's a bakery that feels like it has always been here, a place where people connect over a shared love for fantastic food.
Welcome Home’s story began with a simple, powerful idea: to create a bakery that was truly for the neighborhood. Its founders, Isa Steyer and Billy Wright, were inspired by their own experiences in the service industry and wanted to build a business with a strong ethical core. This means ensuring fair wages for all staff—both front and back of house—and fostering a workplace where creativity thrives. This philosophy extends to the menu, where bakers are encouraged to develop their own unique recipes, leading to a dynamic selection of items that reflect the diverse talents of the team. This innovative approach to business, combined with a focus on high-quality ingredients and incredible flavor, is what sets Welcome Home apart. It’s more than a business; it's a community hub where every loaf of bread and every pastry tells a story of passion and dedication. The bakery’s commitment to its values is evident in every detail, from the thoughtful service to the perfectly executed baked goods, making it a place that truly feels like home.
Welcome Home is perfectly situated at 1047 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11216, right on the corner of Bedford and Greene Avenue. This prime location in Bed-Stuy makes it easily accessible for residents of the neighborhood and beyond. For those traveling by public transportation, the bakery is conveniently located near several subway lines. The Nostrand Avenue stop on the A and C trains is just a short walk away, as is the Bedford-Nostrand Avenues stop on the G train. This connectivity makes it simple for people from different parts of Brooklyn and even other boroughs to visit. The bakery’s location also sits on a well-trafficked thoroughfare, making it a great stop for commuters, dog walkers, and anyone just passing through.
For those who prefer to drive, there is often street parking available in the surrounding area, though it is a busy part of Brooklyn, so it's always a good idea to factor in a little extra time. The bakery itself is a welcoming sight with its cheery green storefront and large windows that flood the space with natural light. The corner spot is a perfect meeting point and a place to watch the neighborhood go by. The accessibility of its location is a key part of its appeal, seamlessly integrating the bakery into the daily lives of the local community. It is a place you can easily stop by on your way to work or make a special trip to on a lazy weekend morning.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can’t believe I’m only now leaving a review after so many visits—this bakery is truly unreal! Every time I come by, there’s something new and exciting on the menu, but their classic staples always keep me coming back. The “Pig in Bed” and cinnamon roll are absolute must-tries. The Pig in Bed is a savory pastry with perfectly seasoned meat wrapped in the flakiest, buttery crust imaginable. And the cinnamon roll? I’m not usually a cinnamon roll person, but this one converted me. The dough is pillowy-soft and melts in your mouth, while the icing has just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess—perfection.I stopped by today later than usual (around 1:30 PM) and was pleasantly surprised by how much was still available. I picked up a baguette and tried the seasonal Chili Mango Danish—and WOW. The mango filling is bright, flavorful, and so addictive I could eat a whole tub of it.You really can’t go wrong here—every pastry I’ve tried has been amazing. Don’t skip the milk bread either—it’s super soft, buttery, and pulls apart like a dream.Bonus points for the dog leash hooks outside—such a thoughtful touch that shows they care about all their customers, even the ones with pups in tow.Whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time, this bakery is a gem worth going out of your way for.
June 22 · Shefali IngaleAbsolutely fantastic. They have both high quality breads (I loved the rosemary loaf) as well as incredible pastries. They have the delicate and perfectly cooked french pastries as well as my personal favorite: a delicious iced cinnamon bun. They have a great space and a great location so even if you are driving there is likely somewhere to grab a spot.
April 20 · Tia Lendothe best cinnamon roll i’ve ever had in my life. chocolate croissant was so light and crispy.first bakery in nyc that has baked goods that taste natural and made of real ingredients without being overly heavy or sweet. vibes are immaculate too
April 19 · sI've been here three times since it opened in my neighborhood. The croissants are *chef's kiss* delicious and flaky and I've tried them all - butter, almond, and chocolate. Chocolate chip cookie is also superb, I think the cinnamon roll is a tad over rated but I think that is more of a personal preference since I don't like too sweet things. Texture is great tho. This shop is cute and cozy, and everyone has been really nice. I'm happy this place opened here near me! Next time I am going to try the savory items.
April 25 · Chelsea ZhouI just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the two lovely ladies who served me during my visits. I came to the bakery twice because, after trying the croissants I simply had to come back to try the cinnamon buns, they were both honestly the best I’ve ever had! I even brought some back home to the UK, and everyone loved them just as much as I did. What made the experience even more special was how kind and welcoming the two lovely ladies were. Their warmth and exceptional service truly made my day. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in NYC—this place is now a must-visit for me. Thank you again!
