brown bag cookies Introduce
For California residents, particularly those in the densely populated and culinary diverse Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, **Brown Bag Cookies** offers a focused and high-quality bakery experience that has quickly become a local favorite. Despite its unassuming name, this establishment is far more than just a purveyor of cookies; it is a dedicated **Bakery** specializing in a fantastic array of classic French and gourmet treats. It brings a sophisticated yet accessible approach to everyday indulgence.
The core identity is built on classic, carefully executed sweets. Customers are immediately greeted with a showcase full of delicacies, from the buttery elegance of **madeleines** and **financiers** to the rich, caramelized perfection of **canele**. Their namesake, the **cookies**, are described as "amazing," "soft, buttery, and full of flavor," and—crucially for many LA palates—"not too sweet, just right."
While the shop maintains a streamlined "grab and go" model, which enhances the efficiency of a **Quick visit**, the quality and decent pricing ensure that patrons are happy to walk away with more than one item. The ambiance of the "gorgeously designed outlet" creates an inviting, upscale feel, contrasting pleasantly with the busy exterior. With prices that are "decent enough for LA standard," Brown Bag Cookies provides an accessible luxury, making gourmet French and specialty pastries a routine pleasure for the local community.
Brown Bag Cookies is ideally situated in a high-traffic area, ensuring ease of access for local residents and visitors alike. The bakery is located at **3450 Wilshire Blvd Ste 106, Los Angeles, CA 90010, USA**, placing it firmly within the bustling heart of Koreatown. Its location within a commercial plaza is a significant advantage, particularly regarding one of Los Angeles' most challenging features: parking.
While the outlet is slightly "tucked in" and may not be immediately visible from the main road, the address on Wilshire Boulevard makes it a major draw. Critically, the establishment offers a standout amenity for this part of the city: **validated parking** for the plaza's **Paid parking lot**. This feature alone is a major "plus point" for any California user navigating urban dining.
Accessibility is also a priority. The bakery features a **Wheelchair accessible entrance** and the convenient **Wheelchair accessible parking lot** directly serves the needs of all patrons. Though there is no seating inside the gorgeously designed shop, the availability of outdoor benches at the center of the plaza offers a pleasant spot for customers who "just couldn't wait to enjoy the goodies." All these factors combine to make Brown Bag Cookies a convenient, high-quality stop, perfect for a quick indulgence.
The service model at Brown Bag Cookies is tailored for efficiency and convenience, focusing on getting fresh, expertly made products into customers' hands quickly, whether they are on foot or need delivery.
- **Takeout:** The primary service style, with a well-organized counter designed for customers to select their items and quickly pay.

- **Coffee Offerings:** The shop provides high-quality **Coffee** to perfectly accompany their sweets, catering to the needs of patrons seeking a complete morning or afternoon break.
Brown Bag Cookies' reputation rests on its masterful execution of classic European and American baked goods, providing a refreshing focus on quality over sheer quantity.
- **Unbeatable Canele:** A standout specialty, praised for its flawless execution—"crispy coating, moist center, and just the right sweetness level"—a quality that is notably hard to find in Los Angeles. The unique Matcha flavor further elevates this treat.
- **Gourmet French Pastries:** A diverse selection of sophisticated French petit fours, including soft **madeleines**, moist and rich **financiers** (available in creative flavors like Ube), and the buttery, chocolate-filled **tigre**.

- **Whole Cakes & Slices:** Offers larger baked goods for celebrations, including the decadent **basque cheesecake**, the light and fruity **victoria cake**, and the beautiful **gâteau au fraises chocolat**.
- **Friendly and Helpful Staff:** Customer experiences highlight the staff's professionalism, noting they are "super helpful" in assisting customers with their choices and recommending favorites from the vast showcase.
- **Affordable Indulgence:** The prices are considered decent for the high quality in the LA market, encouraging patrons to "opt for more than one or a couple" items.

Choosing **Brown Bag Cookies** is a choice for accessible, high-quality craftsmanship, particularly for those in the California region seeking authentic and exceptionally executed baked goods. The most compelling reason to visit, which earns the shop its "creme de la creme" status among customers, is the **canele**. The ability to find a canele in LA that is "comparable to favorite one in London" is a rare and significant culinary achievement that must be experienced by any serious dessert lover. The use of unique flavors like Matcha demonstrates a commitment to elevating classics.
Furthermore, the shop’s operational efficiency and urban-friendly amenities make it a practical choice. The fact that the bakery provides **validated parking** in a busy area like Koreatown is a major time and money saver, ensuring a visit is stress-free. The **Takeout** model is quick, and the array of beautifully presented and affordable treats makes it easy to grab a perfect gift or a selection of items for a small party.
Beyond the canele, the full range of classic French pastries (madeleines, financiers, and the buttery, flavorful cookies) provides a consistently delightful experience. When you factor in the decent prices and the friendly service, Brown Bag Cookies delivers high-end European quality without the usual LA pretense. It is a definite must-visit destination on Wilshire Boulevard for a taste of authentic French baking and, without a doubt, the best canele in the neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was almost lost when trying to find the outlet since it's located in a plaza that might not be visible if you're by the road side. Worry not about parking at the plaza since they apparently validated parking (yep! plus point for sure). The gorgeously designed outlet only served grab and go since there's no seating on the spot. There were some outdoor benches at the center of the plaza though if you just couldn't wait to enjoy the goodies. They offered bunch of sweets from Canele, Madeleine, Financier, Cookies, Cheesecake, and more; all of which did come in multiple flavors. So yeah, be prepared to be indecisive in front of the showcase. They were super helpful though in assisting you making your choices by recommending the favorite ones. It was nice that the price was decent enough for LA standard, so you could definitely opt for more than one or a couple. For my initial visit, I started with the Ube Financier, which was kept in the chiller, maybe due to the cream on top. It came in spongy yet not too airy texture with luscious ube cream topping. It was decent, but not really my top choice. My second was their Earl Grey Milk Chocolate Tigre, which was basically buttery cake kinda similar to financier IMO, with milk chocolate ganache at the center. I definitely loved this more than the financier, especially the combo of earl grey and milk chocolate which to my surprise was awesome and helped balancing the taste to be not overly sweet. Another one I tried was their thick salted chocolate chip cookies, which decadently had crispy edge though I wish being more gooey inside as it's tad dry. Nonetheless, flavor wise I felt like classic chocolate chip with a sprinkle of sea salt indeed never failed. The creme de la creme, however, was certainly their canele which I was beyond thrilled to finally find in LA. I had my favorite one in London which I thought unbeatable, and it's impressive that LA now had something comparable to satisfy the craving without having to fly over 5K miles away. It flawlessly had that crispy coating, moist center, and just the right sweetness level. I surely made the right choice going with matcha as Brown Bag definitely elevated the overall taste with this matcha flavor and that matcha cream top. It was no brainer that their canele is NEVER TO BE MISSED if you ever paid Brown Bag a visit.
August 10 · Jessica GabrielaThese cookies are amazing!Every single one is soft, buttery, and full of flavor. Some have nuts, some are a little chewy inside — all of them are super tasty. Perfect with a cup of coffee (like in the pic)! They’re not too sweet, just right. You can tell they’re made with care. I’d totally get these again — great for sharing or just enjoying on your own.
May 03 · Aleksandr SilkinThis is truly my dream bakery especially as someone who’s Asian and find most baking goods to be too sweet. This is one of those places you want it to go viral bc it’s amazing but also lowkey want to gate keep it lol. I would literally drive 35min from Pasadena to get their pastries. My favs so far are the milk cream scone and Madeline. The canele is top notch too!
February 21 · Yun ChiuVery clean shop. Staff is nice and helpful. Nice variety of sweets and not so sweets. Got three things thinking, one when I get home, one after dinner and something for tomorrow morning. They are gone already. Caneles are great. The black sesame Financiers, so good. And you can never go wrong with chocolate chocolate chip cookies.
June 21 · David ShallenbergerTheir Canele is superb. The crispy outer layer and soft inside combination blew my mind. Flavor wise, both earl grey and ube are great. The texture really shines.
