Burrow Introduce
Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn’s vibrant DUMBO neighborhood, Burrow is an exceptional bakery that has quietly carved out a reputation as a local favorite. Unlike the bustling, high-traffic storefronts you might expect in New York City, Burrow operates with a quiet confidence, feeling more like a cherished secret among those in the know. Founded by pastry chef Ayako Kurokawa, who trained in some of the city's most prestigious kitchens like The Modern, this bakeshop offers a truly unique culinary experience. It’s a place where classic French patisserie techniques are expertly infused with subtle Japanese flavors, creating a menu that is both familiar and refreshingly new. This fusion results in pastries that are beautifully balanced, never overly sweet, and crafted with meticulous attention to detail. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a clean, minimalist aesthetic that allows the pastries themselves to be the stars of the show. The cozy, humble shop vibe is a stark contrast to the grandeur of the city outside, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for a daily indulgence, a special treat, or to discover a new favorite dessert that you'll be thinking about long after the last bite. Burrow is a testament to the fact that in a city with endless options, a focus on quality, subtlety, and craftsmanship is what truly makes a place stand out. It's an essential stop for any New Yorker who appreciates artisanal baking and is on the hunt for something truly special.
Burrow is located at 68 Jay St #119, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA. Finding this bakery is part of its charm, as it’s tucked away in the lobby of a building rather than on the street with a large storefront. For many locals, this “hidden gem” quality is a major part of its appeal, creating a feeling of discovery with every visit. The location is incredibly convenient for those in the DUMBO area and is easily accessible via public transportation. The York Street F train station is a short walk away, as is the High Street A and C train station, making it a simple trip from various parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. For those who enjoy walking, the bakery is also just a stone's throw from Brooklyn Bridge Park, a great spot for a scenic stroll after picking up your pastries. While the neighborhood can be busy, the bakery's specific location offers a sense of calm away from the main thoroughfares. The limited hours of operation—generally Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—mean that planning your visit is key. This focus on a concise window of time for retail ensures that every pastry you purchase is as fresh as possible. The bakery's humble location and focus on quality over a large retail space contribute to the overall feeling of being a cherished local secret. It's a place that rewards those who make the effort to seek it out, providing an intimate and focused experience centered entirely on the exceptional quality of the baked goods.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Get the tiramisu chiffon and rhubarb tart, and the texture and taste of both are so amazing. The chiffon cake is soft as a feather. Price is reasonable. Also love the cozy humble community shop vibe. Will go back soon.
April 18 · Hedy Yeyummy pastries with a subtle touch of asian/japanese flavors. my favorite so far is the marron pound cake! their cookies are consistently good as well. i love coming here before work for a little pick me up :-)+i gotta say i disagree with some of the reviews that the man at the register is rude? i’ve been here several times and never had a bad experience. it might not be the warmest service, but no complaints from me. i just get my pastry and go. (also might be a controversial opinion… but i’m against expecting over-the-top friendliness from customer service workers, coming from another cs worker)
December 21 · Courtney MinIt’s almost impossible to make it to @burr0w because they have the weirdest hours and only on weekdays! I’m so glad I finally got to visit on Good Friday though.Their pastries are delicious and remind me of both Taiwan and Japan! So authentic. The mocha biscuit and caramel butter cream of the coffee cake was amazing! Matcha cake was great as well!
April 10 · VickiNot sweet at all! Might be a bummer for Americans but we Asians love it!!! The signature basque was like sunshine. And I loved the coffee cake.
May 17 · Sharon WuBurrow, nestled discreetly within an apartment building, is a true treasure waiting to be discovered. If you are looking for pastries with a subtle sweetness, this is your destination of choice. I love how the patissier incorporates seasonal ingredients into her creations, resulting in delicate and meticulously crafted treats.
