Cupcake Royale Introduce
**Introduction / Overview: Seattle's Sweetheart Bakery Since 2003**
For over two decades, Cupcake Royale has been a beloved institution in Washington, pioneering the gourmet cupcake movement on the West Coast. Founded in 2003, it holds the distinction of being the nation's first cupcake bakery and café outside of New York City, cementing its status as a true Seattle original. More than just a place to satisfy a sweet craving, Cupcake Royale’s mission, championed by its queer and woman founder, is to create joy and foster community connection through the simple pleasure of a beautifully crafted treat.
This is where the art of the cupcake meets the rigor of craft coffee. Every cupcake is made from scratch daily, using real, high-quality, local, and sustainable ingredients—from the flour sourced from Eastern Washington farmers to the local, growth hormone-free dairy and cage-free organic eggs. The result is a consistent, delightful product that customers have loved for years. Whether you're indulging in a signature flavor like the **Triple Threat**, a decadent chocolate cake with rich chocolate buttercream, or perhaps the celebrated seasonal **Margarita Cupcake**, you are enjoying a dessert baked with purpose and dedication. They also skillfully pair their sweets with locally sourced, artisan espresso under their house brand, ensuring the Seattle tradition of exceptional coffee is always met.
The Capitol Hill location, in particular, stands as a cornerstone of the business, continuing the legacy of a company that has not only sold millions of cupcakes but has also actively used its platform for social good, making it a proud local business for Washington residents to support.
**Location and Accessibility: Right in the Center of Capitol Hill**
The Cupcake Royale shop is strategically located in the heart of Seattle's dynamic and culturally rich Capitol Hill neighborhood, making it a convenient destination for locals and visitors alike.
The specific address is **1102 E Pike St, Seattle, WA 98122, USA**.
This Pike Street location places the bakery directly in a high-energy corridor, easily accessible by public transit and a central hub for walking traffic. For Washington users planning a quick visit, the location's prominence on a major street means it's straightforward to find. Furthermore, in alignment with a commitment to serving all community members, the bakery ensures accessibility with a **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, making the experience smooth and welcoming for everyone. Whether you’re grabbing a latte and a quick treat before work or picking up a box of cupcakes for an evening gathering, this spot is built for convenience.

**What is Worth Choosing**
Choosing Cupcake Royale means selecting a piece of Seattle history, backed by an unwavering dedication to quality ingredients and community spirit. For Washington locals, the experience is defined by the incredible flavor of scratch-made cupcakes and the convenience of a modern café. As one reviewer attested, certain flavors are a "masterpiece," featuring a cake that is the "perfect physical equivalent of the image that appears in my mind when I think of a cupcake - light, soft, airy, delicious - like eating a cloud." This speaks to the meticulous baking process and commitment to traditional, yet elevated, techniques.
The bakery’s unique positioning as both a gourmet dessert stop and a respected coffee house makes it an ideal destination. You can grab a top-tier Stumptown coffee alongside an indulgent **Salted Caramel** cupcake. Furthermore, the availability of specialized, beloved products like **Deathcake**, whether in its seasonal form or a gluten-free option, offers a unique local delicacy that cannot be found elsewhere. The Capitol Hill shop provides a "cute" and welcoming environment with "friendly and helpful people," making the act of buying a treat feel like a genuine moment of joy.
While some long-time customers have observed changes in the size of the cupcakes over the years—noting that the cost-cutting measures have been "unfortunate"—they consistently acknowledge that the quality and "delicious as ever" taste have endured. The core product remains exceptional, and the commitment to using premium, local ingredients justifies the price for many seeking an authentic, high-end bakery experience in the greater Seattle area. For a celebration, a quick, delightful indulgence, or simply the best buttercream in the state, Cupcake Royale is worth every penny and every visit.

Cupcake Royale Reviews
The MARGARITA cupcake was a masterpiece, and quite possibly the best cupcake i will ever eat. The cake part, which was lemon flavor, was the perfect physical equivalent of the image that appears in my mind when I think of a cupcake - light, soft, airy, delicious - like eating a cloud that was turned into cake! The icing was the perfect, sweet, thick complement to this, with the perfect amount of sweetness (not TOO much). I would give this cupcake 6 stars if that was possible, and I will remember it forever!
May 23 · David L BowmanI love the Cap Hill location. Really friendly and helpful people. The store is cute with a lot of fun party stuff. It's exactly what I want when buying cupcakes. It's really unfortunate that the cost -cutting has reached the cupcakes I have loved for over 15 years. They look like they are half the size that they used to be. They used to barely fit in the box, they were so big.I'm glad they still taste as delicious as ever, but it makes it difficult to justify the purchase. I'm grateful to have known Cupcake Royale at its peak, and hope to see it there again.
December 13 · Carolyn NjieMy absolute FAVORITE GF cupcake! I get a few every time I’m visiting Seattle. My friends who eat gluten also love their regular cupcakes. Friendly service and great coffee as well!
May 16 · Lydia McConnellGood cupcakes but just a little small for the price.
July 26 · Linda GundolffOrdered from here once, 3 yrs ago. Now it seems like I'll be getting spam email from them for the rest of my life. Impossible to unsubscribe. I get emails weekly and I no longer live in the area. Please stop sending me emails.
