## What is Worth Choosing
Choosing El Paisano Bakery is about selecting authenticity and supporting a dedicated local, family-owned establishment. For Harrisonburg and surrounding Virginia residents, this bakery offers a truly distinctive experience, particularly for those seeking authentic Mexican baked goods. Customers frequently highlight the delight of discovering a variety of baked goods they may not be familiar with, with staff who are helpful and friendly in explaining the selections. For a taste of the diverse culinary offerings in the Shenandoah Valley, the bakery's Mexican sweet bread and specialty cakes are a must-try.
However, it is important to note that customer experiences can vary, as is true with any small business. While many customers rave about the freshness and taste of their daily pastries and cookies—with items like the pineapple-filled pastry being described as "fantastic"—others have expressed occasional disappointment with custom orders, citing issues with decoration and freshness, such as a birthday cake being described as "sloppy" or "dry." This suggests that while their day-to-day fresh pastries and bread are generally excellent and highly recommended, those considering a large, high-stakes custom cake should plan carefully and communicate their vision clearly to ensure satisfaction.
Ultimately, the value of El Paisano Bakery lies in its commitment to traditional flavors and its role as a proud Latino-owned pillar of the Harrisonburg small business community. Whether you're in need of a stunning custom cake for an important event or just a delicious, authentic Mexican pastry for your morning coffee, this local spot offers a cultural and culinary experience worth exploring.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Grabbed some pastries, cookies and donuts after Klines next door. Everything we got was delicious and surprisingly fresh for late Sunday evening. The pineapple filled pastry was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, friendly and explained the pastries we were not familiar with. We will be back again soon!
April 06 · Bill B.I ordered a birthday cake from this bakery and was really disappointed. The cake did not look like what I had asked for — the decoration was sloppy, and it honestly looked rushed. The taste was even worse; it was dry, overly sweet, and didn’t feel fresh at all. Guests barely touched it, which was embarrassing at a birthday party. For the price I paid, I expected much better quality. Unfortunately, I won’t be ordering from here again.
September 21 · Zhwan MuhamadThe customer service I received from the two ladies who serviced me could definitely be better. I came for the churros but it was self serve and it seemed as if they have been sitting out all day (cold & hard). I also ordered the street corn and that was good but it was also served cold.
September 21 · AWe ordered a cake well in advance for our daughter’s birthday, and this bakery completely forgot about it. No call, no message—nothing. We showed up expecting a finished cake on her special day, only to be told they didn’t make it. They seemed completely unbothered and gave a half-hearted apology like it was no big deal. This wasn’t just a cake—it was for our child’s birthday, something we trusted them with. Their lack of organization and accountability ruined an important part of our celebration. What kind of business forgets an order and then acts like it’s just another day? Unprofessional, unreliable, and clearly lacking basic customer service. We will never be ordering from them again, and I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere if your event actually matters to you.
September 21 · Hayman AkYesterday 11/02/2024 I ordered a birthday cake for my son, pick up today at 3pm 11/03/2024 for the celebration. The cake was supposed to have 3 leches (a famous hispanic recipe), and they charged me almost $50 bucks. What a disgusting surprise to find out. The cake was burned in the bottom and not a 3 leche at all. I called back to the paisano, and they said, they could do nothing if the cake was already eaten 😐 like, what I can do if you have a bunch of children around you screaming for cake?. I'm really disappointed,
December 29 · hilariously for you
