Empire Baking Co. Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For over three decades, Empire Baking Co. has stood as Dallas’ longest-operating craft bakery, establishing a deep-rooted tradition of artisan excellence right here in Texas. Born from a shared passion for real food and a desire to fill a void in the local market for high-integrity, traditionally made bread, Empire Baking Co. has become an essential stop for DFW residents. This is far more than just a place to buy bread; it is a full-service bakery, cafe, and catering resource, specializing in products made with minimal ingredients—primarily flour, salt, water, and time—and absolutely no preservatives.
Empire Baking Co. takes pride in its commitment to simple, yet rigorous, artisan methods. They utilize seven unique starters to produce a variety of naturally leavened breads, a process that ensures a natural, nutrient-dense product. The focus is always on freshness, with most breads intended to be enjoyed within 48 hours, a testament to their dedication to quality over shelf-life. While the heart of the business lies in its acclaimed bread—favored by many of the finest restaurants and foodies across North Texas—the retail locations, including the one near SMU, offer a vibrant selection of hand-formed pastries, gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, and desserts, making it an ideal spot for a quick breakfast or lunch on the go.

Customers often praise the variety of offerings and the friendly service. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 107/08/23: I went to Empire Baking this afternoon to pick up an order. Can’t believe I’ve never been here before. Everything looked delicious!!!! I wanted a sample of all the goodies. Can’t wait to go again.*****Be aware that google maps will take you to the back of the bakery aka the delivery truck entrance. That’s what happened to me today. The main entrance is off of University. There are around 6-8 parking spots in front. The parking lot is pretty small, so is the bakery itself. Not a shot at the bakery, just sharing..*****
July 08 · Sophia NIt has a lot of varieties of bread desserts and snacks like sandwiches salads cookies. The place was a bit small. But very friendly service and a bit pricey. Otherwise very nice.
September 20 · Ivonne McGeeAway from the Inwood Village hub-bub, but it still has the basics & then some. Picked up some walnut bread & baked goodies, including lemon shortbread cookies, muffin & cinnamon roll. There's also prepped foods in the refrigerated area.Parking is very limited.
September 13 · Alice L.I knew a head of time that this was a small storefront located at the bakery, so I wasn’t anticipating all the menu items located in Inwood Village. There’s a chocolate chip cook with sea salt that is delicious. I have to hold myself back from eating them all in a sitting. The muffins are okay. But the real star is the bread. My all-time favorite is the jalapeño cheddar. It’s amazing! I’ve had a handle of different types, and I’ve never been disappointed.
July 20 · Chelsea LeeLearned about and experienced Empire Baking from a too-good-to-go pickup, and will definitely come back as a regular customer. Very high quality, good selection, and a pretty store make this a place worth coming for.
