Features / Highlights
The reputation of Emporium Pies is built on several standout features and signature items that have delighted the Dallas community:
- The Lord of the Pies: This is arguably the shop’s most famous pie. It’s a spectacular deep-dish apple pie, towering in height, filled with a massive quantity of apples—reportedly ten per pie—that are soft-baked in the bakery’s own house-made caramel. The whole masterpiece is topped with a crispy cinnamon streusel and encased in a buttery, flaky crust. Customers consistently call it one of the best apple pies they have ever tasted.
- The Drunken Nut: A year-round crowd-pleaser and a quintessential Texas favorite, this is Emporium Pies' take on a pecan pie. It features Texas pecans in a sweet sauce of butter, bourbon, and brown sugar, all nestled in a buttery shortbread crust. Crucially, it's made without corn syrup, resulting in a rich, pure flavor that many consider their 'most perfect pie.'
- The Smooth Operator: A chocolate lover's dream, this is a French silk chocolate pie piped onto a salty pretzel crust. The combination of silky-sweet chocolate and the savory, crunchy pretzel crust creates an immaculate balance of flavor.
- Seasonal and Rotating Flavors: The menu changes with the seasons to feature the freshest ingredients, meaning there are always exciting, limited-time offerings like 'Cloud Nine' (a butterscotch, caramel, and meringue creation) or 'Drop Dead Gourdgeous' (spiced pumpkin in a gingerbread crust).
- Handmade, Whole-Ingredient Philosophy: The shop commits to making every pie from scratch using quality, local, and whole ingredients, completely avoiding artificial preservatives, hydrogenated oils, dyes, or corn syrup.
- Charming Location: The original Bishop Arts location operates out of an adorable, remodeled 1930's Victorian bungalow, providing a warm, historic, and unique backdrop for your dessert outing.

What is Worth Choosing
What makes Emporium Pies stand out in the crowded Dallas food scene is their elevated approach to a simple, classic dessert. It is worth choosing Emporium Pies for any occasion—or no occasion at all—because you are guaranteed a product made with genuine care and high-quality ingredients.
The consistency and quality are evident in glowing customer feedback. One patron, an admitted deep-dish apple pie enthusiast, described their first experience with the Lord of the Pies as being "beyond incredible." They highlighted the "towering 4-inch depth packed with ten freshly peeled and chopped apples," all baked in house-made caramel, and finished with the perfect crispy cinnamon streusel. This level of meticulous detail and execution elevates a simple apple pie to a gourmet masterpiece.
Similarly, other perennial favorites are lauded for their unique twists on tradition. The Smooth Operator offers a sophisticated blend of salty and sweet that will "get your saxophones going," as one description playfully notes. And for those who prefer the richness of a Texas classic, The Drunken Nut is widely celebrated as one of the best pecan pies in the area due to its bourbon-infused, corn syrup-free filling and shortbread crust.
Beyond the flavors, Emporium Pies provides an exceptional customer experience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Oh my pie! What a cute spot. And the pie tasted even better than this place looks. Lots of options. We went with the chocolate and peach flavors. So good that we inhaled them before we could get a pic. The packaging is so cute and works great to transport carry-out orders. Fabulous!
July 24 · Anne Margaret WhiteLast night, we stopped by Emporium Pies for the first time, and I was excited to finally try their famous “Lord of the Pies.” As a deep-dish apple pie lover, I had high expectations—and let me tell you, this pie did not disappoint! If only I could have warmed it up and paired it with some vanilla bean ice cream, it would have been absolute perfection. Even without it, this apple pie was beyond incredible. Each slice is a masterpiece, featuring a towering 4-inch depth packed with ten freshly peeled and chopped apples. These apples are baked to tender perfection in the bakery’s rich, house-made caramel, giving each bite the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth. But what really takes this pie to the next level is the crispy cinnamon streusel topping, which adds just the right amount of crunch and spice. Encased in a buttery, flaky crust that melts in your mouth, this dessert is the definition of comfort food with a gourmet twist.Whether you’re a local or just visiting Deep Ellum, Emporium Pies is a must-visit, and “Lord of the Pies” should be at the top of your list. It’s easily one of the best apple pies I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth. Next time, I’m definitely coming back with a scoop of ice cream to complete the experience!
April 02 · Jayde HThe pie is so good that I have to post my husband's piece - mine was gone in 2 minutes! Staff is great. 🤗 Can't wait to come back when it's cooler and enjoy the patio.
August 03 · MK BrumelsIf a piece of pie is worth $8 this would be it!The help wasn't friendly and the atmosphere was a little bland.I was the.only customer on a Saturday when the street was busy. They might want to make a better impression than with just the pie itself.
August 23 · John MillerThis was my first time at this Emporium Pies location but my second time at an Emporium Pies and I was slightly underwhelmed. I got the Bonnie + Pie’d and they didn’t even ask if I wanted it here or to go, they just boxed it up to go. I then went to open it right away at one of the tables inside and I’m not sure if this is what all the pies look like or if this is what this one is supposed to look like but it was falling over and presented poorly. For a positive, it tasted good! We were given wooden forks in the to go package and they were a bit uncomfortable to use after a few bites. The customer service was fine, nothing special and unfortunately their only restroom was out of service. I was hoping for a slightly better experience given the raving reviews.
