Grindstone Coffee & Donuts Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a delicious escape from the city, or for those enjoying the charm of Long Island's East End, Grindstone Coffee & Donuts in Sag Harbor is a destination worth noting. This popular shop has established itself as a go-to spot for freshly made, high-quality donuts and expertly brewed coffee. It's a place that captures the relaxed, coastal vibe of Sag Harbor while delivering a product that stands up to the high standards of a New York palate. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm, sugary donuts is an inviting promise of the treats that await inside.
The philosophy at Grindstone is simple: create a memorable experience through quality ingredients and a commitment to flavor. The shop prides itself on its donuts, which are described by customers as fluffy, fresh, and truly homemade. This dedication to craftsmanship is evident in every bite, from the simple perfection of a cinnamon sugar donut to the rich filling of a strawberry jelly one. The menu is thoughtfully curated to include both classic favorites and exciting seasonal options, ensuring there's always something new to try. This approach keeps locals and seasonal visitors alike coming back for more, eager to discover the latest flavor sensation.
Beyond the donuts, Grindstone is also a serious coffee destination. Their offerings, from a simple cup of fresh coffee to a perfectly crafted iced latte, are designed to complement the sweetness of their pastries. This combination of a high-quality coffee program and a standout donut selection is a key part of the shop's appeal. It’s the kind of place where you can get your morning caffeine fix and a sweet treat all in one stop, making it a convenient and delicious part of a daily routine.
The shop’s popularity is a double-edged sword, as noted by some residents. Its success, especially during the busy summer season, can lead to long lines, making it more of an "off-season / mid-week only treat." However, this popularity is also a testament to the quality of the product. The demand for their donuts and coffee is a clear indicator that Grindstone has successfully carved out a niche in the competitive Sag Harbor food scene. For many, the brief wait is a small price to pay for a taste of their delicious offerings.
While a recent review mentioned a perceived change in quality, with one resident noticing a difference in the product, the overall sentiment remains positive. The focus on fresh, homemade taste, exemplified by a customer's praise for the "cinnamon sugar one" and "strawberry jelly donuts" with "a lot of jelly inside," highlights the general satisfaction with the shop's products. The seasonal blueberry jelly donut is also a highlight, showcasing the shop’s creativity and ability to adapt its menu to the seasons. This kind of attention to detail and customer feedback is what makes a local business truly special.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As a Sag Harbor resident, it has been a fun ride with Grindstone, but that seems to be coming to an end. The stores popularity makes it a off season /mid week only treat, however that isn't the issue. The issue is the quality of the product. Even at $5 a donut, something has changed with the quality of the donut. The whole family (ok, the two kids and dad..) tasted it immediately. Did Sysco cause a change in suppliers,? Who knows, but it's definitely different, and not for the better.
July 11 · Christopher JonesGreat great place in Sag Harbor. During the summertime I always find the time to get here and enjoy these delicious donuts with a cappuccino or ice latte. I love all donuts here, tried almost everything so far but the most fav is the cinnamon sugar one. It’s simple, not too sweet, fluffy, fresh and you can taste it’s a real homemade big donut. The strawberry jelly donuts are also SO SO delicious - it has a lot of jelly inside. Seasonally, they have the blueberry jelly which is also a big yes for me. Their coffees are also delicious and fresh!! Can’t wait to be back here and try other flavors too.
July 01 · Dora GNot bad! The cinnamon sugar donut is really good. The chocolate glazed donut tastes like a cake. But i was not a fan of the lemon coconut at all, it Tastes weird. $5 ish per dodo
June 12 · Jack ClaytonStaff were friendly. Went in the afternoon on a Friday and they still had a full selection. $5 a donut is probably acceptable for the location. The strawberry glazed had a deliciously-lemony tang to it. But it was strong enough that I would honestly call it a Strawberry Lemon donut to not surprise you. Jelly donut was very well stuffed; prepare for that.A short step up from Dunkin’ in aesthetics and flavor.
August 12 · Nick JacobsonWhether you’re craving a delicious treat, or need a shot of caffeine, Grindstone is THE place to go for both in Sag Harbor.Grindstone has amazing vibes, thanks to the super friendly and welcoming atmosphere that Kyle and his team provide.Try the maple sea salt for a taste of heaven. You’ll be glad you did.
