What Is Worth Choosing
Choosing a favorite from Heirloom Bakery & Cafe's diverse offerings can be a delightful challenge, but several elements truly stand out and are consistently praised by California patrons. The core of what makes Heirloom a worthwhile choice is its unwavering dedication to quality and the fact that everything is "made from scratch." This commitment is best experienced through a few key categories.
For the true bakery enthusiast, the scratch-made bread and pastries are non-negotiable. The croissants, particularly the Chocolate Croissant ($5.50) and the Chocolate Almond Croissant ($5.95), are often highlighted as superb examples of classic pastry technique. Don’t overlook the rustic-style breads, which are praised for their thick, tasty, and soft texture. For a sweet treat, the Key Lime Pie ($5.75) and the signature chocolate Hostess-style cupcakes are incredibly popular local indulgences that showcase the pastry chef's exceptional skill.
For a satisfying meal, whether it's the start of your day or a mid-day lunch break, the breakfast sandwich (often featuring applewood smoked bacon, egg, and cheese on toasted country white bread) is consistently rated as "superior" and a perfect savory start. For lunch, the Croque Nicole or the daily specials, which often include a frittata or omelet, are excellent choices that leverage the fresh ingredients and homemade bread. The Old Fashioned Cobb Salad is also a hearty, high-quality option for a lighter but fulfilling lunch.
Beyond the food, what is truly worth choosing is the atmosphere. The cafe has successfully cultivated a space that feels quiet, clean, and welcoming, with both great indoor and outdoor patio seating. June 09 · James DeCarliWell, stopped by the town to see the Michael Meyers house. Was very surprised by the service, awesome food, and great outside seating. Definitely will be back next year when we visit again.
June 03 · Eric CroweQuiet place near the train station in So Pas. Had a breakfast meeting and tried out the breakfast burrito. Not the best I ever had, but good sized portion and delicious nonetheless. Service was quick and efficient, I was one of three total customers at 8am. Indoor and outdoor seating. I imagine if I took the train on a regular basis that it might be my go-to spot to grab a coffee and breakfast on my way into work.
August 10 · Chris AllenStopped by during my lunch break to give this cafe a try and I was absolutely satisfied. The counter service was inviting and I loved the plethora of options for food and drinks. I ordered the vegan burrito and it’s definitely one of the best burritos I’ve had- a great blend of vegan proteins and healthy carbs. My sugar free vanilla latte hit the spot! I’ll definitely be returning again.
July 05 · Stacey PFood was very tasty. Burrito was very filling, notably the salsa tasted very fresh. We also got a red velvet cupcake and an apple pie bar to go, both of which were also good. Place gets a little busy but it's overall a nice chill vibe.
