Honey & Rye Introduce
Introduction / Overview: A Taste of Minnesota Heritage and Artisan Craft
Honey & Rye, nestled in St. Louis Park, is a beloved neighborhood fixture that has cultivated a strong following across the Twin Cities metro area since its founding. More than just a bakery, it proudly identifies as a woman-owned venture, rooted in the personal passion of its founder, who grew up baking with her mother in rural Minnesota. This heritage informs the core of the business: a rustic, comforting “urban farmhouse” style that focuses on high-quality, artisan baking techniques blended with Midwestern comfort favorites. The bakery is a true multi-hyphenate destination, serving simultaneously as an artisan Bakery, a vibrant Coffee shop, a dedicated Dessert shop, a reliable Takeout Restaurant, a fresh Sandwich shop, and a specialist Wedding bakery.
The core philosophy of Honey & Rye is a commitment to local sourcing and quality ingredients, partnering with numerous Minnesota farms and makers, such as Tiny Footprint Coffee, Hope Creamery, and Ames Honey. This dedication ensures that everything from their flaky croissants and signature cakes to their renowned breakfast sandwiches and classic monkey bread is made with the best available products. Patrons consistently rave about the exceptional quality of their offerings; for instance, the Caramel Oat Milk Cold Brew is called one of the "best cold brews" tasted, and their breakfast sandwich, particularly when served on their slightly spiced scone, is deemed "top 3 that I've ever had."
The experience at Honey & Rye extends beyond food and drink. The establishment fosters a strong sense of community, featuring a lovely mini-marketplace inside that showcases a curated selection of local, house-made, and women/BIPOC-owned products. This unique feature solidifies its role as a supportive hub in the St. Louis Park community. While the indoor space is tight—optimized for ordering and its marketplace—the consistently kind and helpful staff ensure a welcoming, professional atmosphere, urging customers to take their time and guiding them through the extensive options, a level of service Minnesotans truly appreciate.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute cafe & bakery! They had so many options for both drinks and food!! I got a Caramel Oat Milk Cold Brew and YUMMM!! This place has one of the best cold brews I've tasted. I also had the Savory Monkey Bread which was also super tasty! I got a regular chocolate chip cookie and a brownie too. Both of them were pretty mediocre, and I likely wouldn't buy again. As the other reviews mention, this place does seem to be a tad overpriced. The taste does not match the price, but it's still a really nice cafe. I wouldn't want that to take away from the employees or the environment because the staff here were some of the kindest baristas I've met. Although I came when it was busier, they urged me to take my time and helped me decide what to get. Amazing people. They only offer outdoor seating here and there is nowhere to sit indoors, not even for waiting for your order. This was really disappointing for me. I was hoping to sit down inside and read a nice book on a cozy chair, but realized pretty fast that the metal chairs and the outdoor breeze were the coziest I was gonna get haha. Nothing bad about that, but not quite what I was expecting for a pricey cafe. They also have a lovely mini market inside where a ton of sellers have their items displayed! I loved this because it showed how local this cafe is and how much they care for their community! -Although this was a nice addition, I would sooner recommend replacing them with benches or some sort of seating. Market items could be moved around the corner near the fridge area to utilize the now empty space. Just my input, but this place was truly lovely. I'll be coming back next summer on a nice sunny day to visit.
September 23 · Espen DinneenI consider myself a breakfast sandwich connoisseur and the one here is top 3 that I've ever had. I got the ham one with a scone for the bread. To my surprise, the scone had some spice to it. I like spice so I really enjoyed it, but if you're not a fan of spice, it could take you by surprise. We also had the french toast pastry which was fantastic, but probably would have been better warmed up. I only gave the atmosphere four stars because it's pretty tight in there while waiting for your order. Overall a great spot! We will be back!
August 04 · Brady OtternessSmall and cozy space with seating outside, everyone was so polite and friendly to me which I really appreciated since I did need a moment to look over the menu. The peaches and cream danish was delicious! Not too sweet with a great balance of flavors and I can definitely tell it was baked fresh just by how flaky and soft it was. I also enjoyed the monkey bread latte. I’ll definitely be back again for sure
August 25 · Markeda D.Hard to beat the atmosphere and friendly staff at Honey & Rye Bakehouse on Excelsior Boulevard. Stopped in for the first time after a workout at LA Fitness. The latte, scones and outdoor seating area were superb. Thank you. Until next time!
September 15 · Steven MosborgSaturday morning too busy for me but that's because the pastries are very good. I would recommend order online & pick up, it looks like they just set it out in the vestibule area & it's honors system.Pretzel came out warm with a satisfying crunch, but soft on the inside. Texture was soft & not chewy like many pretzels, served with amazing stone ground mustard.Morning bun good, 🥐 definitely worth trying too. High quality
