It’s a sensory experience that combines nostalgic flavors with an unexpected level of sophistication. This is more than a place to grab a dessert; it’s a destination that makes you pause, savor, and truly appreciate the power of a perfectly crafted baked good.
The story of Janie's Life Changing Baked Goods is a testament to the idea that passion and quality can turn a simple idea into a local sensation. The bakery was founded by Janie Deegan, a self-taught baker who started her business with a simple mission: to make people happy through her creations. Her journey began with her signature pie crust cookies, a unique treat born out of a desire to create something innovative and delicious. She quickly gained a loyal following, first at pop-ups and markets, and eventually, her success allowed her to open her brick-and-mortar location in the West Village. The name of the bakery is a reflection of the feedback she received from her early customers, who often told her that her treats were "life-changing." This personal, heartfelt origin story is woven into the fabric of the business. Janie's commitment to using high-quality ingredients and her knack for creating perfectly balanced flavors are what drive the bakery's success. It's a place built on the joy of sharing delicious food, and that ethos is evident in every bite.
Janie's Life Changing Baked Goods is located at 82 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014, a prime spot in the historic West Village. This neighborhood is known for its beautiful residential streets, charming boutiques, and lively atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for a local bakery with a lot of character. The bakery's address places it in a highly accessible area for both locals and visitors. For those using the subway, the Christopher Street - Sheridan Square station on the 1 and 2 lines is just around the corner. Additionally, the West 4th Street - Washington Square station, a major hub for the A, B, C, D, E, F, and M lines, is also a short and pleasant walk away. This makes it incredibly convenient for anyone traveling from other parts of Manhattan or from different boroughs. The bakery's location on a "residential street," as one reviewer noted, gives it a special, neighborhood-staple feel that is highly valued by local residents. It's the kind of place you might stumble upon while exploring the charming streets, and its discovery feels like a personal win.

What is a Pie Crust Bite? When we started producing our famous Pie Crust Cookies in large quantities we were left with a dilemma: What should we do with all the scraps of leftover pie crust?! While searching for ways to repurpose them Janie was struck by a memory of her Granny's kitchen. Granny Conly would carefully trim her pie then re-roll the trimmings, make a mixture of sugar, melted butter and a good dose of cinnamon, slather it on the pie crust, roll, cut and bake. Voila! These treats which she called "Grasshoppers" were fought over by all her grandchildren. Now to honor Janie's Granny we are making the same addictive treats and calling them Pie Crust Bites: Flakey and buttery pie crust rolled with cinnamon and sugar then baked to caramalized perfection. Since they are hand made and hand rolled using scraps each Bite is like a snowflake, some a little more crispy, some a little more flaky, we love them all!!! 30-40 bites per bag!

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Truly life changing!! The half-baked chocolate chip was INSANELY good - perfectly buttery and slightly crunchy on the outside, and divine melt-in-your-mouth soft chocolate on the inside. The milk chocolate is definitely on the sweet side, but the cookie overall just stops short of being sickly sweet. No exaggeration, the type of cookies you'll have dreams about! The triple berry pie crust was also really good - really nice berry flavours with that same crispiness of a fresh baked pie.Bonus that for specialty cookies, they're super reasonably priced. Tucked away on a residential street, it definitely feels like a local neighbourhood staple.
May 25 · KatTruly life changing! We discovered Janie’s after we’d had an early dinner but didn’t get dessert at the establishment. The chocolate chip cookie is also very delicious.Must try!
May 25 · Jardy SantanaSometimes, the best spots are the ones you stumble upon by chance. After a night out grabbing coffee, my friends and I happened to pass by this bakery on a Wednesday night. Something about its quiet glow and inviting display case drew us in, so we decided to step inside and see what it had to offer. The space had a sleek, modern feel—clean lines, warm lighting, and a display that made it clear they took their pastries seriously. Despite it being later in the evening, the atmosphere was relaxed, with a few other customers enjoying their late-night sweets. The staff greeted us warmly, making us feel welcome even though we hadn’t planned on stopping by.We decided on the chocolate Dubai pie, a name that instantly piqued our curiosity. One bite in, and it was clear this dessert was something special. It leaned on the sweeter side, but what made it stand out was the texture—it felt like a fusion of baklava and pie in the best possible way. The rich chocolate paired with the layered, syrupy crunch created a unique balance, making each bite both indulgent and intriguing. It wasn’t just a dessert; it was an experience. For a spontaneous stop, this place turned out to be a gem. Whether you’re looking for something new to try or just a late-night sweet fix, the chocolate Dubai pie is worth a taste—especially if you enjoy the richness of baklava with a creative twist.
March 03 · Mohammed AlsalmanTHE PIE CRUST COOKIES. The pie crust cookies are super delicious, the savory flaky crust balances so well with the sweetness of the cookies and fillings. They had a passion fruit curd pie crust cookie that I have spent alllllll of this morning thinking about after eating one yesterday afternoon. The cookies aren't very big which is nice because then you can eat more of them, haha. The chocolate chip cookie is also very good. I think the ratio of cookie to choco chips is pretty perfect. The dough is a good flavor, not too sweet. The texture is chewy. I would get it again. There is no seating inside, but there's a counter.
May 04 · Jessica YangTruly remarkable cookies!!!
